As I said afore, I booked ma flight only Friday morning & didny have a pit ticket. Something in ma water just knew I was to be at that bloody concert, & Halleluja!! Thank God I went. Folks must've heard that nuts Scottish chick asking Everybody there if they had a pit ticket for sale. I guess I must've asked over 300 folk that day!! I wasn't caring a jot. Asked tourists, asked shop assistants, bar workers, bouncers, hell I even asked those 2 charity guys who were collecting sponsor money, twice!! Ha ha Didn't get my ticket till nearer 5pm, general standing just would not have been kewl. Waiting in the queue to get in was awesome. Musicology on soundcheck, think I was the only one dancing in that queue- what was wrong wi u dudes!!! Only saw one other guy tapping his feet. Heard Prince's voice over the soundcheck & nearly passed out with excitement! Met 3 lovely guys in front of me & Jenny & Paul who were so nice. But the atmosphere in Malahide b4 the concert was buzzin!! Duffy's pub- Fu o' Prince fans, Prince videos blaring on the tv's, I was in Prince Heaven! I'm sure the G&T helped 2. Listen, I've unleashed the purple funk in me that I laid to rest 16 year ago, for my own sanity. That concert was theeeee best show of my life! Nothing to do wi song choice ( loved them all ) cuz he changed them, made them fresh & funky & new & I have found great love for songs I was once Jaded wi & wud often skip. Hypnotic brass ensemble were so jazzy- Loved them & got us all in the mood. Then the noise started, smoke came bellowing out from the stage, firecracker sounds popped & there he was, camera in hand. My stomach was in a ball. Not happiness or shock, rather perplexity. To me he didn't look very happy, as if something was on his mind, cud see it across his brow. Gold- wow I just froze, taking it all in. Think I was numb, & unsure of him, askin if he'd changed, was it actually the same Prince I saw 1995? After Gold, I let rip & didn't stop shakin ma money maker all night- Mind blowing!!! He was like some musical super-being, guitar, bass, piano, that funny keyboard thing, his dancing, his sweet voice! At times he somehow reminded me of a child studying it's instrument, learning more about it, don't know why. He was LOVING it big time! The happiness just shone from him. But he showed us what he's made of that night, love, funk & lots of deep soul. Unique, ya wud have enjoyed it, u couldnt have failed to have enjoyed it. Just don't miss the next Glasgow show for nothing.... By the ways- any more on those whispered rumours at aw?

Personally, not really. In real time yes, as so many have commented on how good the vibe was despite the hits, but admittedly I guess I'd want the moon on a stick by spending over 100 quid (sterling) on a GA ticket plus transport. I missed the boat not getting a Pit ticket, so when they went, I wasn't that bothered. I can accept it's a hit show, but why so many covers, if he's going to be all jokily self-aggrandizing about the ''too many hits'' why doesn't he play the rest of them?

Sorry weejimmy, just saw this just now. i got my ticket from a guy at the gig. He was tryng to fleece me for 300 euro so I told him to beat it. Went down into to malahide with my friends & saw him hours later still trying to sell his ticket. Got him at 140 euro, which wasn't too bad I thought. Haha, and here's to think my last Prince ticket cost me only £25 for the Gold tour! I would have paid 10 times that for that Dublin concert, I canny believe I am still buzzin over it!

Hopefully see u soon at a gig coming near u!

EllasFell To me he didn't look very happy, as if something was on his mind, cud see it across his brow.

He wasnt happy. He was having on stage sound problems. All new crew. think they were all irish. front of house guy was. backstage before gig, he told promoters he wasn't going to play. Aparently someone was held back from storming his dressing room. Anyways he came on and seemed to enjoy himself.

after he went straight to airport. while his band stayed the night. They were all in some chicken place on south william street next day.

I'm a musician full time. I have a friend who plays in a well known band here. He knew one of the sound crew at the gig. He told my friend.

No offense man, but people love to make up Prince tantrum stories, Im not saying you are, but the friend of a friend of a friend thing slightly concerns me about the validity of the story. I know he did fire some of his sound crew though, so that part is right. And I can't imagine he was in great form after that, so maybe it is true?

Anyways he did a storming show, so perhaps we should hope he is always in a bd mood.!

To me he seemed really engaged with the show & the crowd & yes...happy! In fact I was surprised at what a presence he was - I'd expected a musically brilliant show, I'd not expected such a charasmatic, warm Prince. Then there was Hypnotic Brass who he obviously got a kick out of.

It was my 1st gig (2nd will be Zurich on Wed), so I don't have alot to compare to but I doubt he'd actually get as far as rolling up to a venue & then threaten not going on especially in Ireland, as nothing couldn't be fixed. As he was only 15 minutes late on, I'd be even more surprised if there were backstage rumblings. Or maybe I just don't want the memory of a perfect evening sullied with Prince-the-diva stories!

i've seen both prince and weller playing storming shows whilst being pissed off. weller in particular took it out on the guitar, in fact same with prince. ferocious guitar playing
