Cologne incident

Did anyone notice the mamy people queing up at the info-point of the arena in Cologne to sign in for a refund and formal complaints due to the ear-threatening loudness? The sound-mistakes made will no doubt fire back to Prince's camp. There's laws in the European Union that regulate decibels at concerts. Apparently those weren't being taken in comsideration last evening by Prince and his crew. I suggest to anyone who is having serious hearing-problems today to contact an otolaryngologist immediately to have your problems researched, monitored and documented.

I sense that there's something seriously wrong with the way the concert last evening might have threatened people's health. Is there any logic involved in paying considerably high sums of money for a ridiculous performance that might have a lasting damaging effect on your health? Step into action, if the harsh, loud sound did effect your hearing.

If a concert is so loud that you HAVE to wear earplugs than there is something wrong. Think about it, if everyone needs to wear them, why don't you just turn the volume down? I thought that was common sense but apparently it's not. rolleyes

BTW there is a difference between "loud" and "so loud that you're thinking your ears are going to bleed". I was at NSJ first show and it was the second kind of loud. Based on multiple comments on the other thread I think Cologne was that loud too. So don't drama-queen the OP. Thank you!

The audience would drown out the band if they did that. neutral

rolleyes Then please tell me why I've never experienced that problem on all the concerts of other big artists I've been to. Or maybe the Prince crowd is twice as loud as the other crowds!

Nope. And I'm proud of that.

My last try to convince you all that the sound was shitty: PRINCE WASN'T HAPPY AS WELL. That's why he apologized after the first NSJ show, and that's why he's apologizing now.

If you all like to have ear-hurting sound levels, well fine then! lol

What's that all about? Why would I need to see NIN? Don't ridicule yourself. Prince ain't NIN. I did attend shows by Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, Pink, Ricky Martin, Cher, Simply Red, Die Ärzte, Stevie Wonder in the Arena, Cologne. I wouldn't want to compare any of them to Prince. But none of the mentioned artists went anywhere near the crap that Prince dared to fire at us yesterday. I hope that he'll never come back. He can disappoint so badly constantly.

Some people one here seem to have enormous problems to handle some serious criticism...

And your point is please?

That nobody should go to a concert anymore?

Especially if it is a concert by Prionce?

We should all better stay at home now?

Huh?????

But thanks for your great advice - you're really a clown! confused

One word (band) : Swans

but besides all that....

I know one thing 4 sure.

I cannot imagine it is Prince's intention to fuck up a show.

Like the perfectionist he is.

Coming back to the original post that started this thread.

What are you getting at? and yes, i can read.

confused

we do not stop playing because we grow old , we grow old because we stop playing

Yes.

I wasn't there on the cologne show. But I was there on the first NSJ show, it had the same problems.

Were any of you guys (except the ones who agree with me) actually at one of those shows?

Once again, I know what earbleed loud is. I own a Mesa/boogie class A guitar amplifier. When I put the master volume at 5 o' clock and put my ear next to the speaker, I get the same feeling in my ears as I had on the NSJ show.

Some of the reactions over here give the impression that it's cool to go to an earbleed level concert. Like NIN or motorhead, "that is LOUD"... My dad used to attend these mega loud concerts. Now he can't hear his own cellphone anymore. he's 46. His friend was a drummer and needs to install special doors because everytime a loud noise occurs like a closing door, he is in pain. I doubt the coolness of that.

It was my 12th Prince show, maybe some of you have been to a lot more shows. But I never had these ridiculous sound levels as I had the last time.

The loudness wasn't even the only concern, it also was blurry, I couldn't "seperate" what the bandmembers were playing, it was just one big wall of sound.

So please don't tell us to stay home and play our records. That is just one stupid thing to say confused

This is exactly the reason why you should wear earplugs or just bring them along just in case.
