Well, he can finish his US tour first before it gets too cold there, as long as he comes to us in the summer wink

(taking in Brazil on his way down south, of course)

I think he relised it wasnt going so well in the States early this year so came to Europe, had such a good time, and now will rest till next summer and Europe again.

It actually started out with a big bang, 7 NYC/NJ shows, the five at MSG sold out without any discounting of tickets. Then the CA and NC shows. Where it failed was when he tried to do the 21 nigth in LA thing and basically performed for little or no money. He should have done 5-10 shows in LA and moved on. Places like Chicago and Detroit were dying to see him (among other smaller markets). Then he could have come back east to Philly, Boston and DC. By now, he could have done another couple shows in NYC and sold them out too.

Something always seems to go wrong when he tries to run everything himself. Look at the Musicology tour when he let someone else do it and it turned into a great success all over the country. Tour, videos for the album, promotion, TV shows, interviews, reasonable ticket prices, the CD give away which, at the time, made it a number 1 album for several weeks until Billboard changed the rules, the HOF induction, the Grammy's performance, etc. If I remember correctly it was the number one tour of the year.

Nah, it was the 21 nights thing that messed it up bcuz he did incredibly well in NY/NJ I know, I was there. cool

I've never been a fan of the 21 nights idea. The shows in NC and SC proved that he is better off touring the country especially in cities he has not done in a long time, those are sure sellouts!

He did very well in the US.

Surely not every concert in L.A. was sold out, but with more than 200 000 tickets sold ( the ad after the concert said 250 000)i would say it was a success. Of course not like in London, where every concert was sold out. But 15 concerts in one city and many quite packed is not that bad... biggrin

And in N.Y.C every concert was sold out...oakland, too...

^Yes Oakland was a success..always has been...always will be...and with 3 days notice. He could do Detroit, Philly, Miami,Oakland, LA, NY, Texas, to name a few and let's not forget Paisley Park would be great! I would love to see him in Europe...the photos look fantastic...nothing but love is such a beautiful thing.

Yesterday at Jazz festival at grant park, one of the sax players played brief sax cover of Purple Rain (yes I know this song has nothing to do with jazz and Prince isn't "technically" a jazz musician...) But OMG I was just beyond happy!!! and people went nuts saying "purple rain! it's purple rain!"!!!!!! It totally made my day it was beautiful mushy

Chicago is sooo ready for u Prince!!!!!!!!!

headbang headbang

I just want him to come back to Dallas, TX. Guaranteed a sold out show. If not sold out, it will be damn near close!!!! Nevermind, the failed private Super Bowl show from last year. The weather sucked with all the snow and ice, plus I couldn't afford to party all the snooty Dallasites at that place anyway!!!!

Just waiting for you Prince!!!! So much love!!!!! biggrin

I would say Prince will be back here when hell freezes over. But since this summer has been hell and it's likely to freeze over again, maybe we'll see him in January? lol

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Last week, I dreamed meeting Shelby J. on a parking lot. She said no future shows are being planned and the proposed fall concerts are not on.

So it's obviously not happening.

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

I could really do with knowing. My passport needs renewing & it takes 6-8 wks. I've been holding onto it hoping.... knowing my luck the thing will expire the day before his show.
