Just missed the piano section and 1 or 2 more hits like Sometimes It Snows, When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette or something like that. Again, a pretty guitar rock based show.

All in all a good show!

But: P has almost 2000 songs registered, his band can play north of 400 songs, why should he play the same hits every evening whilst he has so many other fine songs?

Moreover, he plays 5 times this week (2x Gent + 3x Rotterdam). Lots of people attented most, or in some cases all, of the gigs. A bit of variation is what makes the shows great for lots of fans.

This setlist was much better suited for a Jazz Festival than the set yesterday. Of the 27.000 P tickets sold, only 3000 people didn't go to the North Sea Jazz Festival. I really don't think jazz lovers mind if P plays a more 'difficult' set instead of a greatest hits show.

And the sound of the more intime songs was much better than the harder songs.

Just my 2 cents.

I just cannot believe people get tired of Purple Rain........maybe i'm addicted....and should get some purple rain rehab....

Interesting point about the 400 songs, I think i heard "when were dancing close and slow live for the first time.....and I love "when were dancing close and slow"........loved it BIG TIME....Can't wait for tomorrow's show...

Therefore, the setlist this morning was really great. Together with Viage2, the best gig I've seen during the 2010 & 2011 tours.

I love Purple Rain, and he plays it different en livetrough everytime, but
on this concert it wouldn't have fitted,
it would have spoiled the utter utter utter beauty of this concert,
he teased with it a couple of times,
letting you hear a few strokes, or only one stroke of the song, at the start of another (guitar was one of them, I think)

This show was opening up the gates of heaven,
and letting us in for a couple of hours.

Andy Allo is off course not the most virtuosic musician, but the joy & freshness she brings on stage is really delighting. I got goosebumps on the songs she did the lead vox. Very sexy and uplifting and for me one of the highlights of the set. And she was great on "The Love We Make", too.

Don't get everyone wrong... Purple Rain is fantastic song... but last night he played The Beautiful Ones instead... There was no time left to do Purple Rain, but when Prince had permission to play another half an hour at the NSJ, Purple Rain maybe became part of the setlist...

However... it was such a great concert... crystal clear sound... lots of guitar... and well... Joy in Repetition as an opener... Bambi... Dear Mr. Man... a full version of mountains... When We're Dancing Close And Slow... the Johnny B Good/Peach-thing... Alphabet St...

I loved every second of this show... And maybe he's doing Purple Rain tonight...

Prince made funny faces all the time... He did the little bass-thing during I Want You Back with his voice...

however... I still don't know who released Seal out of his cage during Mountains... he wasn't able to sing the song right... (I think he started too early with the chorus every time)... so Prince took back his microphone and did the song himself...

and Shelby and Liv... well... I haven't see them very much during this 2nd NSJ-show... Maceo, Andy and Prince himself were in the spotlights the whole evening... and I loved that...

it was great... in all the way!!!

Yes, it was pure magic last night! THe first 40 minutes just blowed me away! "Joy in rempetition", "The love we make", "When we were dancing..", "I like it there"... wow Very tight and artistic arrangements! A classic!

Andy Allo is a very interesting musician. Eryka Badu in a mix with Nora Jones!

It was a VERY good show, yesterday!!!

WTF...I went first night and Ive never seen a show like the one on Friday...bad sound, horrible strobing lights, some parts were brilliant, most of it one bad rehearsal. And now this set list..ARRRRGGGHHH!

This is what I had expected the first night....I agree, the hits for first timers and the non hits, but truly awesome ones, for the real lovers...Joy In Repetition, The Love We Make, Bambi, When We Were Dancing and even the hit Peach....I think I would have died and gone to heaven!

Hope someone's been a bad boy or girl and recorded this one.....keep my fingers crossed for tonight..not going myself

This setlist page is not updated. For instance, Sign of the times, he played it on wednesday in Gent, july 6th, during the piano sampler set. He sung the whole first part of sign of the times, with a few times a scream from partyman sampled into it. Much loger than the times I heard him playing it in London. Nasty Girl, also played in Gent the 6th.

No words to describe last nights gig, all elements came together in this one big melting pot;

the perfect setlist, the crowd in such a good mood, Prince very relaxed and doing what he does best...this night was about music. And he's soooo in love

Very brave, no purple rain...I never get bored of that one, but it was time for some other great ones like Joy in repetition...these first beats made the dissapointment of fridays show vanish like smoke.
