A chick played 3-4 songs, with P as a guest, then he took over with The Love We Make and DMSR. It is possible that he played other song(s) before Pop Life. If memory serves me right, he played Shhh before Joy in Repetition, and ended the gig with Purple Rain. What a night...He showed us a lot of love and he felt it back from us. The show ended at 3.30, started at 12am, and P's set started at around 12.30am.

Heres a slightly more accurate set list - few numbers had been skipped:

Love we make

Dmsr
Pop life
NPG jazz interlude
Musicology with Tighten up, and bass solo finishing with a little America.
Song from back-up singer
Shelby Tate "misty blue"
Controversy
Freak out
Which way is up Shelby
Play That funky music
Break 1
Take me with you
Need Another lover
Dr feelgood guitar solo
Break it down
Nothing compares 2 U
Joy in repitition
Break 2
Pass the peas
What have you done for me lately
Partyman
It ain't over
Break 3
The bird
Jungle love
I like funky music
Love bizarre
Kiss
Break 4
Purple rain
Big extras there - Partyman and NeedAnotherLoverHolenYourHead.
Loved the fact he didn't do any keyboard medley.
Least "spectacle" I've seen at a Prince show - but the best concert ever! Just incredible music. Only used falesto once all night (Kiss). Almost always had the guitar in hand and not ONE lecture on God.
Absolute bliss. The perfect show!
Shhhhh was INCREDIBLE.

Seriously - no lyrics, but that was the bassline that he then destroyed on the guitar.

That would be Motley Cru sometime in the eighties.

Quite a shock to hear that refrain!

I think it's just the guitar outro to Anotherlover, he's been performing that since 2006, and it's usually referred as Rock Lobster, tho I don't know the original...

*IF* Prince had performed Dr. Feelgood last night, it would NOT have been the Motley Crue song. Instead it would have been an Aretha Franklin song that he performed with Rosie Gaines often on the Diamonds and Pearls Tour.

The Aretha Franklin song makes sense to me. Maybe Andy Allo sang it?

Thank you for that.

I'm simply absolutelyovertoomuchhappy that he did Shhh!! Just can't believe it!!!

Nothing compares to you with Shelby was SOOOO powerful!!! It was B-U-TI-FUL!

Best show ever, I can die now, serious!

And that bass solo (what 10 min?) just took me to heaven. THE most incredible thing I've seen, and was actually dreaming to see, that I guess will never be surpassed in all the things I'll see in my life.

So.. what do you all think of Andy Allo on the 1st show versus the 2nd?? In the 1st she seemed shy and learning, and on the 2nd she killed the stage (and made Prince VERY PROUD based on seeing him jumping and clapping when she ended her song! He looked so proud, that was beautiful to see... Maybe she got a candy cool Well, she did get a kiss on the cheek wink

Were you there?

If not why the "If " he played it. I was there, he did - just the refrain under his solo - and no not the Aretha version that Rosie used to sing - I've seen that live during the D&P and this has nothing to do with that. So don't tell me, the person who was there what I could or could not have heard.

Prince has always thrown in some unusual musical choices, often as a bit of a joke, so why would it NOT be Motley Crue?

[quote]Confirmed. I heard him do it at the Forum. Just the refrain, but yeah. I heard it, too. I will look for my ticket stub and figure out which Forum date it was. And, I will also figure out which Forum date he rolled through a bit of VHalen's Eruption! Blew me away that nobody around me noticed, so I grabbed the nearest white guy to confirm it for me. Fortunately I take one with me most everywhere I go. I was wondering when someone else would come out of the metal closet and preach the truth. Confirmed my friend.
