My two cents: Thank you Prince for the experience of a lifetime I'll never forget: two Izod shows, Two Oracle shows, and the last two Forum shows! I'll treasure the memories of music you left us with. cool music

Thanks to Prince for keeping tickets affordable. Going to be tough justifiying "regular" ticket prices again.

Thanks to LA for blowing off most of the run, allowing me to score FIVE DOLLAR tickets twice.

Thanks to ticketmaster for dropping premium seats to $25 at the last minute.

Special mention goes to the offer they give you on checkout for "completesavings.com" which allowed me to make $45 on each of the other 7 Forum tickets I bought thanks to ticket rebates and discounts on giftcards.

That's right, I got paid to see Prince lol. It also paid for The Troubadour.

Also thanks to the scaplers for eating all the loge seats allowing me to change seats when needed. I also got backstage thanks to their greed as I made friends with the person next to me one night after moving down who ended up taking me to 5 afterparties where we drank free all night. The bartenders refused to take our money, if that's not a hook up I don't know what is.

I still don't believe it, but it happened.

All in all 9 shows at The Forum and 1 at The Troubadour and it could not have been better. The concert experience improved for me when Mike Phillips and Maceo showed up as I thought it was weird seeing Prince without horns.

THANK YOU PRINCE ROGERS NELSON! (and Shelia E!)

Spice8890 - Your pic was so fierce that I had to forward it to my friends.

Being a lurker for so long, I decided to register and today is my official first day of posting. I attended 7 shows and was more than satisfied with each one. Many of you have posted "thank you'" that pinpoint my exact feelings and thoughts. Prince and his crew are to be commended for bringing the real funk and soul back to Los Angeles-without getting stale. Never before have I had the desire to attend so many shows of one artist or group in such a short period of time. I think the last time I did was about 7 years ago when I flew to England to catch 3 or 4 Incognito concerts at Jazz Cafe and at some dinky joint in Ascot. Talk about some serious heat. Holla!

Prince came to my area which was so close that I could have ridden my bike, ran, hopped on a bus or train to see. There was no reason for me not to attend. At $25 per ticket, the whole of Los Angeles had a great opportunity to see what music was,is and should always be. I will not forget a man who I came across who mentioned he was attending his third show because he, one day, wants to be as big as Prince. I thought that was cute because I felt as though he really knew music.

Never did I expect to be spoiled by anyone outside of my family but Prince did a good job. I was spoiled to the point of one show never being enough and brought my friends onboard with me. One attended six shows and also wanted more. As much as I still want more, I do not think it is fair that Prince performed as long as he did. Two shows would have sufficed and many would have been cool walking away knowing they were not going to get more. Fortunately we did and unfortunately it is over. I want more!

You said a mouthful! I can't believe some of the complaints of people who had Prince within their city for such a length of time and for so little money, when so many other people wanted to see him and either had to go to LA or go without. "Spoiled" and "entitled" come to mind--words usually applied to Prince on this forum. Maybe some should check their own purple images out in the mirror before they bitch about his... razz lol

I've been a lurker here forever, but this post finally motivated me to register and post something, so a big thanks first to Bronze Funk for that. You've got to wait several days after registering before they let you post which is why I'm doing this as late as I am.

Alright, here I go...

First off, Prince, thanks for making this time in my life shine. You put a hell of a stamp on these two months or so of my life.

Thanks for making me lose myself in your music so many times. Unbelievable. To be able to get out of my head and into the moment like that is just too freakin' great. To do it over and over again is priceless.

Like several other orgers have mentioned, thank you for making ticket prices affordable. I've got a wife and young son and all the bills that comes with that, and still I was able to see 8 of the 15 forum shows without doing too much damage. Plus, like someone else posted earlier, I was able to bring several people who'd never seen you before. All of them were blown away. Those $25 tickets made you a lot of new fans.

Thanks for changing up your shows enough that I never got tired of it.

Thanks for the musicianship.

Thanks for NPG and my new personal favorite, Ida. Beautiful, badass Ida.

Thank you you for giving me the best date I've had with my wife in a long time. That'll work.

Thanks for bringing me together with old friends. Bronze Funk is one of them, and I gotta say, that reconnect alone was worth the price of all 8 tix. My buddy Greg is another and same deal.

Thanks for the long intro you did to Cool the Friday before you closed. It seemed so free and organic, like you were just working it out on the spot.

During that same intro, thanks for urging us to "Say what's up to your neighbor!" All of a sudden, I found myself fist bumping with two little old ladies to my left (yep, they were on their feet, partying away), a rasta to my right, a couple of crazy tatooed girls in front of me, and the security guard behind me. Where else but at a Prince Concert?

Thanks for "The Love We Make." B. Funk and I had talked about loving that song on the way down to the Forum that night. Next thing I know, you're opening with it.

Thanks for Stevie Wonder on his birthday. So nice, I gotta say it twice. Thanks for Stevie Wonder on his birthday.

Thanks for Janelle Monae. DAMN, that woman is fearless!

Thanks for being so supportive of your openers.

Thank you for the Question of U - Gingerbread Man mashup from April 29th.

Thanks for that dance break you did at the end of Kiss. It made me both laugh and dance every time.

And lastly, thank you for giving me time of my life.

Thank You for coming to my city and playing so many nights.

Thank You for making tickets affordable enough that I could go see you perform 16 times.

Thank You for coming at the time in my life where I could set most everything aside and go to your shows as much as I did. I really needed it.

Thank You for giving me a reason to hang out with my friends Dave and Albert and see a half dozen shows together.

Thank You for the new Prince fans I met, like Antoinet.

Thank You for every time I saw $25 on Ticketmaster I never saw a fee added to my price.

Thank You for making it affordable enough I could give away tickets when I got better seats.

Thank You for making it affordable enough for me to take people who never saw you perform before, now they get it.

Thank You for changing your set lists so much from night to night, and for changing the order of the songs that repeated.

Thank You for playing 3 hours a couple of times.

Thank You for caring about The Forum, most of the employees there were super nice.

Thank You for giving Magic Johnson's name love in The Forum. Being from LA, this is special for us.

Thank You for giving Michael Jackson respect every single night. Although I was not his fan it seems a LOT of people needed to hear you do this and it was right.

Thank You for the NPG, their commitment to what you choose to do is exceptional.

Thank You for bringing Elisa, Liv and Shelby J and their wonderful voices.

Thank You for that incredible stage.

Thank You for the dance you do at the end of Kiss.

Thank You for the purple confetti during Purple Rain.

Thank You for bringing people up on stage to dance, especially the woman you called your Mom.

Thank You for making the guys behind me laugh when you talk about your 'Walleyed girl'.

Thank You for the scream the sister in front of me let out when you sang 'Insatiable' three minutes after she asked me if you still do that song.

Thank You for having Sheila E. She killed it EVERY time she solo'ed on Glamorous Life and the crowd's love for her was amazing.

Thank You for introducing me to Janelle Monae.

Thank You for the pound or two I lost each night, dancing at your show.

Thank You for the 20 minute version of "When Eye Lay MyHands On U" on Thursday April 22nd.

Thank You for the 14 minute version "The Love We Make" on Thursday May 5th.

Thank You for "just making sure the bass worked" at the first House of Blues show.

Thank You for "Colonized Mind" at the House of Blues.

Thank You for "Sweet Thing" with Chaka Khan.

Thank You for "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" with Alicia Keys.

Thank You for "Nothing Compares 2 U" with Mary J. Blige.

Thank You for "Superstition" and "You Haven't Done Nuthin'" with Stevie Wonder on his friggin' birthday and playing until 1am!

Thank You for "The Beautiful Ones" on closing night, I got watery eyes. I think it was from all the smoke machines.

Thank You for all the cool pictures. I know you don't like it when I take pictures but I don't like it when you play Beyonce or Rihanna songs so can we call it even?

Thank You for playing these songs on nights I was there; She's Always In My Hair, 17 Days, Partyman, Black Sweat, Love, Peach, Sometimes It Snows In April, Adore, Laydown, Future Soul Song, Forever In My Life, Mountains, AnotherLoverHoleInYoHead, Endorphine Machine, Joy In Repetition, GingerBread Man, The One, Strange Relationship, Something In The Water (Does Not Compute), Somewhere Here On Earth, Eye Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore, I Like It There and Bambi.

Your fan 4ever,

P.S.

The other day I was meditating and for the first time in a long time I transcended the physical plane and traveled into the ether. While I was there I saw a huge coliseum with bright colored lights and lots of sound coming from it. When I went inside there were hundreds of thousands people of all backgrounds in the stands. I moved thru the crowd while they cheered and screamed and clapped for more music. There was a tall stage, I went behind it and it opened up to a large chamber with columns and musical instruments engraved on the walls. There was an archway that read "Pantheon of the Rock Gods". As soon as I stepped inside a large figure floated over to me. It was Jimi, I totally recognized him! You could tell by the features of his face, his moustache and brown eyes. What was weird though was he didn't have an afro anymore, he had a pompadour like James Brown. With his left hand he lifted three fingers to his mouth like he's smoking a joint but there was nothing in his hand. He inhales and then lets out a billow of pungent smoke from his lungs right in my direction. When the smoke clears he is still there but now he has Rick James braids in his hair.

In a low, slow voice he asks me "Whatcha doin', man?"

I told him "I'm writing a thank you note to Prince"

His eyelids fluttered and he said "Right on..."

Jimi takes another drag, and now he's got long dreadlocks like Marley.

Then he says "Hey, will you tell him something for me?"

I said "Sure"

with smoke trailing out his nostrils Jimi says; "Tell him I said,...You the man"

Jimi inhaled from his fingers once again and started to float away, afro fully intact. As I was losing sight of him I heard him faintly say "Peace"

After that, all I could hear was the roaring crowd, yelling, screaming and stomping for more as I traveled back down from the ether to my center.

Message passed.
