Thank You Prince for coming to LA

Thank You for coming to my city and playing so many nights.

Thank You for making tickets affordable enough that I could go see you perform 16 times.

Thank You for coming at the time in my life where I could set most everything aside and go to your shows as much as I did. I really needed it.

Thank You for giving me a reason to hang out with my friends Dave and Albert and see a half dozen shows together.

Thank You for the new Prince fans I met, like Antoinet.

Thank You for every time I saw $25 on Ticketmaster I never saw a fee added to my price.

Thank You for making it affordable enough I could give away tickets when I got better seats.

Thank You for making it affordable enough for me to take people who never saw you perform before, now they get it.

Thank You for changing your set lists so much from night to night, and for changing the order of the songs that repeated.

Thank You for playing 3 hours a couple of times.

Thank You for caring about The Forum, most of the employees there were super nice.

Thank You for giving Magic Johnson's name love in The Forum. Being from LA, this is special for us.

Thank You for giving Michael Jackson respect every single night. Although I was not his fan it seems a LOT of people needed to hear you do this and it was right.

Thank You for the NPG, their commitment to what you choose to do is exceptional.

Thank You for bringing Elisa, Liv and Shelby J and their wonderful voices.

Thank You for that incredible stage.

Thank You for the dance you do at the end of Kiss.

Thank You for the purple confetti during Purple Rain.

Thank You for bringing people up on stage to dance, especially the woman you called your Mom.

Thank You for making the guys behind me laugh when you talk about your 'Walleyed girl'.

Thank You for the scream the sister in front of me let out when you sang 'Insatiable' three minutes after she asked me if you still do that song.

Thank You for having Sheila E. She killed it EVERY time she solo'ed on Glamorous Life and the crowd's love for her was amazing.

Thank You for introducing me to Janelle Monae.

Thank You for the pound or two I lost each night, dancing at your show.

Thank You for the 20 minute version of "When Eye Lay MyHands On U" on Thursday April 22nd.

Thank You for the 14 minute version "The Love We Make" on Thursday May 5th.

Thank You for "just making sure the bass worked" at the first House of Blues show.

Thank You for "Colonized Mind" at the House of Blues.

Thank You for "Sweet Thing" with Chaka Khan.

Thank You for "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" with Alicia Keys.

Thank You for "Nothing Compares 2 U" with Mary J. Blige.

Thank You for "Superstition" and "You Haven't Done Nuthin'" with Stevie Wonder on his friggin' birthday and playing until 1am!

Thank You for "The Beautiful Ones" on closing night, I got watery eyes. I think it was from all the smoke machines.

Thank You for all the cool pictures. I know you don't like it when I take pictures but I don't like it when you play Beyonce or Rihanna songs so can we call it even?

Thank You for playing these songs on nights I was there; She's Always In My Hair, 17 Days, Partyman, Black Sweat, Love, Peach, Sometimes It Snows In April, Adore, Laydown, Future Soul Song, Forever In My Life, Mountains, AnotherLoverHoleInYoHead, Endorphine Machine, Joy In Repetition, GingerBread Man, The One, Strange Relationship, Something In The Water (Does Not Compute), Somewhere Here On Earth, Eye Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore, I Like It There and Bambi.

Your fan 4ever,

-bronzefunk

P.S.

The other day I was meditating and for the first time in a long time I transcended the physical plane and traveled into the ether. While I was there I saw a huge coliseum with bright colored lights and lots of sound coming from it. When I went inside there were hundreds of thousands people of all backgrounds in the stands. I moved thru the crowd while they cheered and screamed and clapped for more music. There was a tall stage, I went behind it and it opened up to a large chamber with columns and musical instruments engraved on the walls. There was an archway that read "Pantheon of the Rock Gods". As soon as I stepped inside a large figure floated over to me. It was Jimi, I totally recognized him! You could tell by the features of his face, his moustache and brown eyes. What was weird though was he didn't have an afro anymore, he had a pompadour like James Brown. With his left hand he lifted three fingers to his mouth like he's smoking a joint but there was nothing in his hand. He inhales and then lets out a billow of pungent smoke from his lungs right in my direction. When the smoke clears he is still there but now he has Rick James braids in his hair.

In a low, slow voice he asks me "Whatcha doin', man?"

I told him "I'm writing a thank you note to Prince"

His eyelids fluttered and he said "Right on..."

Jimi takes another drag, and now he's got long dreadlocks like Marley.

Then he says "Hey, will you tell him something for me?"

I said "Sure"

with smoke trailing out his nostrils Jimi says; "Tell him I said,...You the man"

Jimi inhaled from his fingers once again and started to float away, afro fully intact. As I was losing sight of him I heard him faintly say "Peace"

After that, all I could hear was the roaring crowd, yelling, screaming and stomping for more as I traveled back down from the ether to my center.

Message passed.

AMEN, bronzefunk! Wow! Grateful, beautiful, heartfelt. Ah, I really, really, really hope Prince knows what special fans he has and he is just as grateful for you as you are for him.

I ditto all that. Serously it was amazing what this 21 nite stand did for my life. Turned it upside down, inside out but mostly in a good way. In fact, I think he should just stay. I could use a Prince concert every weekend. It's good for my body & soul. (Not to mention I lost a few pounds like you too!!! smile )

I'm super thankful for meeting you & DaveG! What awesome people are here on the Org.

Thank you Prince!

Even though I only made to 2 LA shows, I'll add my thanks, too!

I'd also like to thank him for the MSG show I went to.

(And I'll agree with your negotiation on pictures vs. Beyonce songs!)

I'll Add Mine too:

-Thank You for giving me something to do during the month of May since the LAKERS choked in the Playoffs.

-Thank You for picking a venue that is only 10min away from my house... Almost too good to be true.

-Thank You for making your shows so accessible that I was able to get 9 people to go to your show that had never seen you before. One of whom was so blown away that she ended up buying tickets to all 3 HOB shows the very next week.

-Thank You for absolutely owning your guitar at the HOB "Jazz Cafe".

-Thank you for inspiring me with your music once again.

-& Thank You for giving me the opportunity to meet some pretty cool people at your shows & here on the Org...

PEACE prince

I forgot one that I'm truly thankful for:

Thank you for singing "Adore" while standing on the piano while directly facing me. I was in a trance.

And some more

Thank you for your open and candid interview with George Lopez.

Thank you for your positive attitude throughout the shows and your committment to bringing joy and music to LA.

Thank you for the shirtless and Twin guitar bump & grind night.

Thank you for those weightless white pants and doing a Kiss breakdown dance in them that was just mind blowing.

Thank you for bringing my music appreciation back to the level it was when I was a teenager/in my 20's.

Thank you for making the deal for $25 tickets.

Thank you for doing small venues and giving people amazing memories.

Thank you for bringing the party vibe to every concert I attended in this run ad making people feel "one Love" during those moments.

Thank you for playing the keyboard inches away from me in the after party on Friday the 13th and allowing me to gaze into your eyes and for that beautiful smile

Thank you for waving at me and smiling when all I could think of to say was "Hello sir!" when you walked past me (LOL, I know that sounds like I'm addressing an old man and that is NOT how I think of you...but I'll keep THOSE thoughts to myself)

Thank you for making this 39 year old dress up to look and feel like a sexy 21 year old again for 10 nights in a 2 month period...(oh hubby thanks you for that too, but enough about him, lol)

Wonderful post OP!

I am thankful to have been able to witness all of the purple, glittery, greatness that is PRINCE! Never in my 24 years did I think I would've had the opportunity, I'm still in awe...hell, I'm borderline depressed that he's really gone and now I have to resume my not-so-purple weekends lol but I digress.

Out of the 6 shows I have attended (All at the Forum), my most memorable moments were hearing, seeing, and/or doing:

*Beautiful Ones - I had to fight the tears, didn't want Realtor to
see me sob and swoon lol
*Always In My Hair - Clearly a favorite.
*Anotherloverholenyohead/Rock Lobster - LOVED it!
*Something In The Water - lost my mind
*Peach
*Mountains
*Nothing Compares 2 U w/ MJB - Goosebumps
*LRC/Slow Down
*Shhh/U Will Be With Me
*The One/ Walleyed Woman
*The Question of U
*How Come U Don't Call w/ Alicia Keys
*Strange Relationship - flipped my lid
*Sexy Dancer/Le Freak
*Hot Thing
*Laydown
*Endorphinmachine
*Insatiable
*I Would Die 4 U
*Scandalous

*The cringe worthy but still hot dance after Kiss
*The f*cking SLITHER!
*The white light-up "Sasquatch" boots!
*You ripping your shirt open 5/27 and me really trying to decipher how a 52 year old man could be that cut! lol
*How you purposely dropped the mic and walked away at the end of your set which made everyone scream in hysteria 5/29
*You kicking the microphone stand over during PR
*You just shredding the guitar after numerous songs
*The "mom" you had on stage
*Darklotus joining you on stage
*You asking the crowd, "Is anybody pregnant yet!?" followed by, "It might be me!"
*You playing the drums for 30 seconds @ the after show
*Me playing the keyboard at the after show while Realtor manned the mic
*Sheila E. Making the drums her SLAVE!
*When you dry-humped the piano
*You riding your bike around the Forum an HOUR after the show ended just because we refused to leave (4/22)
*How you asked the audience to raise our phones 5/29 and I saw not one light in the air due to your strict security policies lol I think you were testing us.
*You looking/sounding FLAWLESS!

Thank you for the affordable ticket prices
Thank you for giving yourself week after week, hours upon hours.
Thank you for choosing the Forum. Pure 80s nostalgia.
Thank you for not beefing up security until AFTER we were hundreds of pictures in smile
Thank you for not half-assing your way through this tour like so many other artists this era has to offer.
Thank you for preserving the funk long enough for me to get a whiff!

Far too many memories and much more love gained for you not only as an artist, but as a human being. Prince, I truly adore YOU!

Sidenote, I would also like to mention how grateful I am for Prince.org! I have met some wonderful (and generous) people here and it really touches me to see people like this still exist! Thank YOU too!

& last, I want to acknowledge my parents, for they are the reason I am love drunk off the Purple One today! I thank them for leaving those cassette tapes around the house for me to find and listen to, I thank them for having MTV which subsequently exposed me to the videos, and that infamous butt cheek performance at the VMA's lol, I thank them for appreciating real music! The apple didn't fall far from the tree. Long live the Partyman!
Next time you pull a card, it better be an ace, mothaf*cka, you could lay--face DOWN!

Thanks to Prince for keeping tickets affordable. Going to be tough justifiying "regular" ticket prices again.

Thanks to LA for blowing off most of the run, allowing me to score FIVE DOLLAR tickets twice.

Thanks to ticketmaster for dropping premium seats to $25 at the last minute.

Special mention goes to the offer they give you on checkout for "completesavings.com" which allowed me to make $45 on each of the other 7 Forum tickets I bought thanks to ticket rebates and discounts on giftcards.

That's right, I got paid to see Prince lol. It also paid for The Troubadour.

Also thanks to the scaplers for eating all the loge seats allowing me to change seats when needed. I also got backstage thanks to their greed as I made friends with the person next to me one night after moving down who ended up taking me to 5 afterparties where we drank free all night. The bartenders refused to take our money, if that's not a hook up I don't know what is.

I still don't believe it, but it happened.

All in all 9 shows at The Forum and 1 at The Troubadour and it could not have been better. The concert experience improved for me when Mike Phillips and Maceo showed up as I thought it was weird seeing Prince without horns.

THANK YOU PRINCE ROGERS NELSON! (and Shelia E!)
