No offense intended by me either. I just thought it was a funny way to point out the duality of Prince and his fans. The man covers so many genres and attracts a huge variety of people. We all groove at a different pace

Tambourines have long been a staple of Prince shows throughout the years -- it's the reason they are still sold at his concerts. I hope people continue to feel free to play their tambourines at shows, despite this kind of opinion.

Sorry but unlike singing along, tambos can be heard three sections over. I was kind of annoyed at the chick who was loudly playing along in loge 10 through the entire opening night.

Not AS annoyed as I was at the office ladies who kept holler "woop woop!" through the quiet ballads on the ONA tour but somewhat annoyed.

my guess is the Tambourine lady is at all these shows........and she came to all the Vegas shows

and there are others like her as well

While all the white people DO clap their hands on the 4 in DMSR, I always wanted to know why Morris tells somebody to "clap on the 1" (can't remember the song at this second... I think it's Jerk out? he says "If yu can't clap on the 1, keep yo' hands in yo pocket!")

I feel if you buy a Tambourine for $80 you should be able to play it wherever you choose!

No, you shouldn't be able to shake it whenever you want. If I buy a poster before the show, can I unroll it and wave it above my head? I'm sure the people behind me would appreciate that. Can I bring an airhorn? The fact is, the tambourines can actually disturb the music. It's annoying to hear people shaking tambourines in the middle of "Nothing Compares..." or even a fast jam for that matter.

There are PLENTY of opportunities for full crowd participation, ranging from clapping to singing and even dancing.

I'm actually considering buying one, but I plan to buy it as I walk out.

Can't agree with this. Leave that shit at home or in the parking lot. Everyone doesn't smoke and I can't exaggerate how offensive it is to have that shit hit you in the nose as you're enjoying the performance. Call me a square if you like but it isn't allowed inside the venue and is offensive to those who don't indulge...
