Do you live in the middle of a field?

There's a big difference between watching someone perform 200 yeards away at some raggedy ass shithole in the hood, and then seeing them up close, playing something different, at a small club in Hollywood.

I don't find The Forum to be a "raggedy ass shithole". It's more true to the size of the arenas that Prince played in back in the 80's and 90's. I find that it makes the shows feel more like a throwback.

Seeing him somewhere like the Staples Center would suck.

Agreed. Logistically, the Forum sucks for concessions (30 min waiting in the line to get the last vodka tonic served before 1030p), ATMs, etc... but by bringing cash and a flask, I've sidestepped all of those issues to just enjoy the space - which I enjoy more than other venues in LA. cool

I'm liking the Forum too, it's a working class type venue, no luxury boxes taking up the 3 floors between first tier and second tier of seats. Many great memories of gig there. Sound has been fine, bathroom lines about the usual, though the parking in the lot is exorbitant that's my only problem. They don't search you on the way in so I brought bottles of water and a couple shots in my pocket for the second show. No stress no mess.

Would I rather it was at a nice small space like Disney Hall or the Conga Room? Sure. But I wouldn't rather it be in any other building that holds 17,000 people. Pond, Sports Arena, Staples, Pauley Pavillion, none are as good as the Forum.

Security was beginning to get more aggressive last week. On Saturday they were patting down men and finding the water bottles in the coat pockets (I know, it happened to me). They were searching inside of ladies' purses with flashlights and clearing everyone's pockets. Much difference than first couple of weekends.

I honestly think Prince was trying to set up a show but it fell through. I also think Dr. F tweeted because someone in Prince's camp told him to do it. Maybe they should have waited until they knew it was a sure thing.

What I find interesting is that Dr. F is now being taken as some Prince know all.

This is (in part) because he's been right about a lot of things related to Prince

and because, as he has stated, he gets some of his information of the Prince camp,

if not Prince himself. As fans, most of us have probably read and seen interviews in which

Prince makes it very clear that he doesn't like it when someone thinks they "know" him

or what he is going to do. Usually leads to some backlash from our purple princess.

Dr. F is getting a little too big for his purple pants and Prince may have decided it was time to

"put him in his place," wherever that may be. I wouldn't be surprised if Prince started feeding

Dr. F incorrect information so that there will be a public back lash against him and people

will again realize that only Prince knows Prince and that Prince will do whatever in the hell he wants.

Lots of things "happened," just not the show.
