This is not true. Delft is not just around the corner. Try this one:

As a matter of fact any other hotel in ROTTERDAM is closer than the one in Delft. You must be working at the delftcentre to claim such bullshit. lol

^^ almost! But there is only one on Saturday, at 1.30 a.m. and two on Sunday - 1.30 a.m. and 11.45 p.m. (or 23.45) ... that's how I understand it. So there is one Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, but the first two start past midnight and the last one before midnight. wink

No it isn't! biggrin I had to grin when I saw all the confusion, thinking "that's what Prince does with us" ... he likes to surprise and confuse us! biggrin But yes, there is a show scheduled for Sunday, beginning at 23.45 ... so just barely Sunday, but still.

But as rherscheid mentioned, during North Sea Jazz the stage in the Sportpaleis is not at the small side of the hall but on the long side: almost half of the hall is not used for the audience.

This is the first time in the renovated Ahoy, so things might be a bit different. I guess we'll know for sure in a few days. smile

I called concert organizer Mojo. After the recent renovation, the Sportpaleis hall (or Maas hall as it is called during the festival) gives room to about 15.000 visitors during regular concerts. The stage will not be at the broad side as was the case during the previous North Sea Jazz festivals but at the short side where the stage normally is. But there is a difference, the stage will be built more up front, so the capacity is reduced to about 9.000 visitors.

Not to mention it's actually 25 minutes, not 15. The other hotel is way closer (5 minutes), but as I said before, any hotel in Rotterdam is closer. wink

really ?...i would imagine flights to l.a would be a fortune...will check it...to be honest...i would rather see prince playiing a more eclectic setlist in a jazz festival rather that the usual hits that he plays in the big arenas....

.

.

flights to l.a from scotland are around 600 uk pounds each...think i will leave that just now smile

Easyjet Edinburgh - Schiphol (20 minutes by train from Rotterdam) & http://www.stayokay.com/index.php

if you take the 20 min train, make sure you have the correct, slightly higher prices tickets for the high speed train, otherwise the trip could cost you a lot of euros....

normal trains take 40 minutes , departing every 15 minutes

[Edited 5/11/11 10:02am]

and a small additional info:

Rotterdam is part of the intercity night network, which means there are trains 24/7 between the major cities. SO, that also leaves you the option of travelling to amsterdam where there are quite a lot more budget options. Expect a return train ticket to be somewhere around 18 euro's.

Rotterdam is a nightmare as far as cheap hotels are concerned, it's a business city, not a touristic centre at all.

Train tickets between Amsterdam and Rotterdam are only about 18 euros, really? That's great!

I plan on going to the concerts, coming from Austria. Flights to Amsterdam are way cheaper than to Rotterdam, and if the train is that affordable it is a good deal. I had thought it would be no option, given that Prince performs in the middle of the night and I did not expect trains available at that time ... but that's great to know!

Yeah, can't miss that opportunity to see Prince three times on one weekend!!! (Nice compensation for missing the LA shows!) biggrin

Thanks for all the info on this thread!!!

return trip = 26 euro's on normal trains, fast train which is 30 minutes faster is 30 euros.

2 warnings: fast trains don;t run after 23:00 and a day return ticket, the only available return ticket is valid for just one day and the division line between days is at 4:00 am, meaning that after that time a return ticket ftom the day before loses it's validity. safest way is to buy two single trips.

Thank yo very much, Eelco!! So for going back to Amsterdam from Rotterdam after Prince's concerts the only option is the normal train. But that's okay, as long as there is transportation available. On Sunday/early Monday I would most likely go directly from Rotterdam to Schiphol Airport and save a night's accomodation that way. But I'll sort all that out once I have my concert tickets!!
