This is a BS picture, there were alot more people there tonite. It looks like this pic was taken well before the show started. I sat down at 8 and the floor was full the Loge section color yellow was filling up, the seats behind the stage were filling and the ones in front. The orange loge seats didnt fill up untill Prince hit the stage. If you are going to post something post the truth/

Oh man... Mr "look at me being cozy with the stars" doesn't know Roxy Music's "More Than This"? What else to expect from someone who pollutes his Twitter timeline with "now playing" tweets that feature such musical greats as NKOTB. © Bart Van Hemelen

Joy in Repetion was an amazing opener..I think he stayed close to the setlist the Dr. Funk posted. I have been to about 15 Prince shows and this was the best I have seen him. If you werent in the building tonite, please slap yourself then run and get tickets for tomorrow!!

Referring to the picture, that's how it looked like when I went 4/14, it didn't start getting full until like 8:30, like they knew it was gonna start late. Watch me talk about Prince - http://www.youtube.com/us...ature=mhee
Tumblr - http://dreamyicecream.tumblr.com/ New coat, huh? That's nice. Did you buy it? Yeah right.

Glad to hear it filled up on the lower level by the time Prince hit the stage. I really want to catch more shows late May/early June and hope they continue. Excited to see some really different setlists and if tonight is any indication, I may get my wish.

Did anybody notice that woman in white at the beginning and end of the show? I've seen her before and why was she going around asking people if they enjoyed the show? I met this person and "she" is the same height and build as Prince. Also sounded her voice sounded a little strange. We talked to her after and she made a comment about the Tambourines being $80 jokingly. I say it was him!

Yes the one in the veil. My sister seen this person before dressed the same way at the Musicolgy concert and I had heard it was him. Everytime I tried to look into this persons eyes they looked down or away. They definitely had Prince's eyes.

It was pretty crowded towards the end, He started with the Cassandra, then came back on for Joy in Repetition, Then it went into Brown skin, then you already saw the setlist, he was pretty amazing like I though he would be. This was my first time, my legs hurt lol, but he did like 3 encores, it was pretty cool tonight. I'm sure it wasn't the most packed, but he still gave it 100 percent and I can appreciate him for that. Now I know how little I would like on that stage because we are the same height lol. Anyway, I plan to go another time soon, he mentioned something about he is trying to preserve the forum and he will play there as long as we'd like him to. Prob not 100 percent true but it was a great way to start. He did LRC and it was so amazing, but I gotta say the funniest part is when he is on the piano and the girls are jumping up and down around the piano and he looked like he was getting annoyed, then he said "I'm working right now lol" and then also introduced them as Jersey Shore asking lol "are you claiming these lol." Then when no one was looking, he leaned over and push the girl towards the other way and off the piano lol. Anyway, it was the hits, but this was my first time, I have pics and trust me that place was pretty crowded on loge and floor once all was said and done. Anyway, in my opinion to many highlights for the night, truly amazing though to finally see him in person. I say it was a good performance overall, Ledisi was there, who is also someone I truly admire. Bottom like, the camera was all up on his butt during kiss, which had me laughing pretty hard, and he was dancing his butt off as usual. One of the funniest things is when he was singing Shhh, and was like I can't sing this! somebody gone get pregnant! lol which is what I heard what he has said before. Overall its for a really good cause, towards the end there were a few of us fans left, prob half of what was there and he came out with this hat and those boots God I want those boots so bad and did play that funky music, inglewood swinging, you know the rest. The twins were there, which was pretty entertaining, the playlist is basically what went on. Joy in Repetition had me on cloud nine though because I looooooveeeee that song so much and I was very happy he played it for my first show seeing him/ May not been a house full but the impact was just as equivalent. I really enjoyed myself and I know this is not the end lol, but next time, I'm not wearing a dress and heels, can't even move but thats what happens when you've got funky joints all up in your body lol. My mom went with me and it was pretty entertaining because I was up dancing and singing and she was yawning and tired. comedy... anyway, I will give more detail tomorrow but I'll leave you with this. Love ya org and to Prince, you held it down as usual.. hehe Night!!!

I've seen this person at the shows every time I've gone to one in Orange Cnty or LA areas, never misses a show but I think there are people who know who she is here on the org. I did also notice her dissappear more towards the end

Hey peoples, just got home from The Forum. That set list is accurate for the most part but there were some diversions. Here is what went down.
Cassandra Wilson opens at 8:50pm...obviously LATE. We thought there wouldn't be an opener due to the lateness. She performed until 9:20pm. As noted, P came up with her on her third song for a sweet duet. The crowd was appreciative and respectful.
P's set begins at 9:55pm to the chords of Joy In Repetition. I damned near lost my mind...could not believe he was opening with that. After an elongated intro they finally fall into the song and here is what followed.
Joy In Repetition; segued into Brown Skin (note: P doesn't play guitar during JIR, which disappointed me...but got the orange Fender for Brown Skin and played his face off as Shelby J vocalized)... 17 Days (w/ "Lovergirl" chorus & shout out to Teena Marie) Sshhhh Controversy Which Way Is Up What Have U Done 4 Me Lately Partyman It's Allright Make U Feel My Love Misty Blue Let's Go Crazy Delirious 1999 Little Red Corvette
Purple Rain
The Bird Jungle Love A Love Bizarre
Kiss
Play That Funky Music Hollywood (Inglewood) Swinging (w/chorus from Lakeside's "Fantastic Voyage")
More Than This (I'm guessing this was the slow song at the end; I didn't recognize it)
OK...re the set itself...this was probably the most FUN show I've seen thus far from start to finish...when I heard the opening chords to "Joy...", I damned near lost my mind because that's my SONG. And then to go into "Brown Skin," with Shelby ripping it up...and then "17 Days," I mean...wow...and then "Sshhhh..." it was over. He could have done whatever else he wanted to do and it would have still been a perfect night.
It was a party vibe from the start. P was very loose, playful...I don't mean that he wasn't into the performance because he most got-damned WAS all over it...he was feelin' good tonight. 1700 or 17,000...it didn't matter to him, he was going to have a good time with those who came out tonight and wasn't nothin' going to stop him from getting down all night long.
There was a joyfulness in tonight's show. I saw opening night 4/14, which we all have heard by now was a special night...I also saw 4/22, where he played stuff from 20Ten but it was a truncated set...90 mins and despite a full Forum crowd begging for more, all we got was a bike ride around the venue. This one was comparably...best word I can say for it was fun. Loose. Despite not playing the solos during "Joy..." and "Ssshhhh," once again he played a gang of guitar the rest of the night. Despite it being how many he times he's played it, he had a particularly good time playing "Purple Rain" tonight...the crowd was really into it, doing the chorus in unison and giving P much love which he felt and gave back.
Now, re the crowd...was surprised to see the colonnade closed off; made me wonder if attendance is beginning to dwindle already. I got my seats Tues through Ticketmaster, Riser seats dead center stage so I was cool...but there were several empty seats throughout the loges...not so much on the floor and VIPs though. If the reports are accurate that the box office was giving away seats for ten dollars then that's not a great sign and even though it was Thursday night, still should have been a stronger crowd. I don't know what is the issue. Apparently many folks don't know about the engagement, there's little to no promotion or people don't understand that it is a residency...I'll have a better idea of what's what tomorrow and Saturday nights but for now, it seems possible that we may not make it to show 21. I am benefitting from this situation by being able to see the greatest performer I've ever seen repeatedly for next to nothing...but there is a sadness to it as well. That place should be packed to the rafters and people should be fighting to get in...all that aside, very, very satisfying and engaging show. Love the way P is changing up the songs so that it feels fresh and new. My brother thinks I'm nuts for going to so many shows but...if you had the chance to see Jimi Hendrix 21 times in his prime before he died, would you have taken it? Eddie Hazel of the original Funkadelic? Donny Hathaway? Miles Davis? Sarah Vaughan? Jaco Pastorius? Randy Rhoads (for you metal guitarists)? I'm going to ride this out with P until the wheels fall off or I get bored, whichever comes first...and I'm nowhere near bored yet. This is a once in a lifetime event...

Disapointed that Fantastic Voyage isn't the David Bowie song. That would've been awesome.

Joy in Repetition and 17 Days were a nice surprise and he forgot the lyrics for LRC in the beginning, poor Prince lol

i've been to every show on this 21 nite stand. first of all, the picture of the stage with the place empty is really premature. the place was 60% full. for a place that holds 17,000 people it's not as bad as the picture would lead you to believe. the show was great. i've been fortunate enough to see prince in many different capacities and this was no different. he played his ass off. he danced, he played, he sang. he was great as usual. if you werent at the gig, don't worry about it. don't put up false claims about the gig. it dosent matter to you. he rocked it for everyone there. he played and came back for encores and he is still the greatest. i can listen to him play guitar and sing anything over and over again because it's the shit. thank you prince. thank you npg. we are lucky in los angeles to have him. don't hate, celebrate

The show was amazing, as expected! My 11th time seeing PRINCE! L.A. peeps just showed up late tonight. He didn't hit the stage til after 9pm anyway, after Cassandra's set.
I love "Joy In Repetition", especially when he rips it on guitar, but tonight he let Renato play a solo in place of the guitar. It was a jazzy version tonight, and how beautiful it was! I wonder if he's ever arranged this song in this way before? He also let Renato solo in place of his usual guitar solo on "Shhh". I've always loved his guitar work on Shhh as well, but it was awesome to hear Renato's beautiful keys taking the place of the guitar solo tonight! Love when Prince experiments with song arrangements and makes it interesting!
Never thought I'd hear "17 Days" live in concert! Wow! He played the opening notes to the song on guitar instead of keyboard. During the "Lovergirl" cover, Prince said "RIP Teena Marie. Nice to hear!
Too bad for the peeps who left too soon! The band took about a 10 minute break between the encores of A Love Bizzare & Kiss. The crowd went crazy screaming, shouting, and stomping for Prince to come back out. The Twinz mentioned this in one of their tweets, so we know Prince heard everyone and had to come back out and perform Play That Funky Music and Inglewood Swingin'! He definitely felt the love from L.A. tonight! [Edited 4/29/11 3:36am]

Can't wait to hear More Than This from this show

Hmmm, 17 Days, huh? Almost all of the songs done by this band have been shit, so I almost don't even wanna hear my favorite Prince song of all time done by them, but here's hoping he at least did SOMETHING with it.
As far as the show, having Dr. FunkyNuts broadcast that the tickets were more than half-price right before the show is NOT a good sign. His whole strategy of offering tickets two days before the show is starting to blow up in his face. And, he's quickly finding out this ain't London. 21 nights ain't gonna be same here, baby!

TOTALLY DISAGREE!! I counted 10 cover songs. I want to hear Prince sing Prince music, not everyone else's. I do like seeing 17 days and Joy in Repetition though. The rest of the setlist does not look appealing though to me. Did Prince not hear what he said on Lopez and how much he despises covers? And HALF of his show is just that. YUK!!
