Tele-prompter

I noticed he had at least two tele-prompters around the stage on the 14th.

He needed it cuz he has too many hits, but it limits him some in terms of his movement.

I don't mind cuz it didn't he had enough gas for the encores!

Does anyone know when he started doing this?

Ahambone

Were they even necessarily for him, or for the band as a whole?

I was waiting for him to break into the first verse of "Dreamer" (since it was up on the prompter and all), but he never did.

I noticed that when he wanted to jam he just went around the symbol and then, of course, he didn't need it, but when he chose to sing he did take a peak during some songs...totally understandable.

Too Many Hits? Where did anyone ever get this idea that he had too many hits? Prince NEVER would say that he has too many hits. He would never say this out loud at a concert. (Unless you count the 8 times per concert that he reminds everyone of this since 1997 or so)

Well, even if he didn't have one hit, that has nothing to do with using a teleprompter. It has to do with memory, age, how many different songs are performed, etc. He had them all over the stage in Carolina. I have seen bands without any radio hits have them, so there is no releation between record sales and ability to remember lyrics.

At least he is mixing things up a bit with the set list.

edit out the nonsense and it's a lot easier to agree to.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

before the prompters he had this lady with a crate full of laminated lyric pages, it was pretty comical actually. i remember during 21 nights in london at the indigo (and laso i think i saw her in vegas) she sat in the pit, front of center stage, and pulled out the right page everytime he started playing whatever he wanted to play at that moment. from thepanic in her eyes it was very clear there is usually no real set list for this gigs.

and monitors - totally totally understandable. not an age thing, definitely just a function of the really huge amount of songs the band rehearses and knows per tour. for recent tours theyhave an arsenal of perhaps 200 songs, including covers they pull out rarely, and obscure stuff like extraordinary or endorphinemachine. no reason for him to know these songs like he knows Purple Rain...if this helps to rattle the setlists im all for it.

NOBODY should ever agree with me. When I marvel at how great his studio releases have been, every single Bart Van Halen flag waving hater tells me I am living in a dream world, and that Prince hasn't recorded a great song since 1989.

When I say that Prince is SOMETIMES the greatest live performer that ever lived, but that he is guilty of taking shortcuts, and not always WILLING TO DO THE WORK...I get blamed as a hater who can't ever say anything positive about Prince.

When I complain that Southerners in a bad economy got 6 shows where all of the good seats were over $100, I am told that I was stupid for paying $1500 for tickets to see my favorite, and I should never complain....Be Serious.

I am going to be honest. Had I known that there would be $25 Los Angeles seats, I would've flown out there instead. I could have seen 75 shows at those prices. All I am saying is that Prince should've had a price plan and stuck to it. I am not the only fan shaking his head on this one.

My point is, is that for whatever reason, I seem to be flamed for having strong honest opinions. It doesn't make me right or wrong, it is my opinion. I know some of you would rather have Prince sing one verse of When Doves Cry over a backing tape. When I suggest that a full version might be better, I am told that I am stupid, and pig headed. Fine.

Yes, anyone who reads my posts, knows my running joke is...Well Prince is the greatest blah blah blah, but to prove he is human...He let Tony M in the band...
