Okay, but I think we should keep the thread on topic and enjoy the concert reviews of those that attended. [Edited 2/22/11 19:31pm]

I'm watching him right now, I'm jealous I wasn't there.

For some reason I totally forgot about this concert. It doesn't seem as hyped up as the others at MSG. But then again I wasn't there so maybe the excitement is an inside secret.

Do you think each night will be the same song set? I want to go Thursday night too, but not if it is the same concert as Monday night. Loved it, but it would be fun to see a new set of songs. Just wondering if in NY each night was a different night.

I went to 2 shows in a row and the show experience was way different. Some of the same songs were played, Kiss/Purple Rain/etc. but in a totally different order and other songs were thrown in so it felt like a brand new experience. I'd go if I were you.. Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

Thousands Turn Out For First Of Three Prince ConcertsOAKLAND, Calif. -- One of the most famous performers in the world came to Oracle Arena in Oakland Monday as Prince appeared for the first of three scheduled concerts. Even though the show was only announced late last week, the artist managed to sell out the first show and was close to selling out the second. Oakland is the second city in Prince's Welcome 2 America Tour. Planned special guests like local percussionist Sheila E. and onetime Sly and the Family Stone bassist were scheduled to join Prince onstage along with some surprise performers. On Monday, fans were treated to a guest spot by Bay Area guitar legend Carlos Santana. At around 6:45 p.m., a long line of fans started pouring into the Arena as doors opened for the first of three Welcome 2 America shows in Oakland. They came from all over the Bay Area, eager to see Prince perform live after paying anywhere from $50 to $250 per ticket. Live Nation said there are a few tickets left for Wednesday's show. And the promoter told KTVU that Prince has added a third show for Thursday night. Tickets for that concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. "I made my hat. Made my cape. Here's the tambourine," said Prince fan Cindy Webster from Tracy as she showed off some of her handmade gear. Webster told KTVU she also planned to attend Wednesday's concert. She said she paid $1,500 for a VIP package which gives her a pair of floor seats. She said the high price was well worth it. "He's just a genius musician," said Webster. "He's the ultimate. "KTVU cameras were not allowed inside Oracle Arena to shoot footage Monday night. Prince last performed in the Bay Area four years ago. Concert promoter Live Nation told KTVU the tickets for this week's concerts only went on sale last Friday because even the promoter didn't know Prince was coming to Oakland until last week. "His shows are really incredible, which is a testament to why he can sell out two arenas on a week's notice," said Live Nation President Rick Mueller. I thought the show was pretty good. I have not seen Prince for about 6 yrs but I've seen him 10-15 times before that, and the energy in Oakland was amazing! Sheila added a lot and his other singers (Shelby!) were good. I have to say, I'm sick of "Purple Rain" and even "Kiss" and it still surprises me the crazy reaction those songs get from live audiences! If you have seen Prince live before, you've heard those songs. But a lady sitting next to me was at her first P show and she was most excited about seeing Sheila If Prince has "too many hits," why not play some different ones!? (Well, I guess that's what aftershows are made for). I loved hearing "Mountains" and "Dreamer" and the ballad medley... the version of "Adore" seemed really emotional last night. I love how he still moves and totally hypnotizes everyone in the room... how can can a 54-yr-old man make women scream like teenagers?! I'm really glad I was not on the floor level. With this symbol stage (awesome), it would be hard to see him run all around. I was about 20 rows back & had a perfect view. And finally, I WANT his gold lighted shoes! The whole outfit made him shine like an angel "A woman every day should be thanked, not disrespected, not raped or spanked"

I'm still waiting to hear who were the band members? Did he have different people playing in the band or was it the same as the band in the NYC shows? Hopefully I will hear who was on the stage that night soon.

He said "Tavis Smiley" at the 12/18 show at MSG. (BTW that was the first show @ MSG - the Jersey shows were 12/14, 12/15 and 12/17) That was the one that Tavis Smiley attended with Dr. Cornel West and all of the other cast of characters(Alicia Keys, Whoopi, Sheri etc etc. ) As far as all the other NJ/NY shows he said "The L Word" Eye Wish u Love, Eye Wish U Heaven

Okay, I was at the 12/18, 12/29 and 2/7 concerts; wasn't sure if he had said "Tabatha's Hair Salon". and yes, I saw the celebrities that appeared on stage that night taking up space on the stage. Also aware of the dates of the NJ shows, as well as the one that was cancelled. Thanks for confirming that info. [Edited 2/23/11 8:47am]
