Yep, because those seats are behind the stage, more or less. The best views are near the arrow.
I checked Stubhub and laughed hard. The scalpers are going to lose their ass on these shows and I'm glad for that. I won't be surprised if Wednesday gets canceled altogehter.

The Warfield was one of the BEST of the Best ever...lemon yellow suit and set list to die for...My Oakland experience in the round (sorta) with the up close music club seats were just about the worst ever...The stage was sky high..and the joke was all we could see was the gum on the soles of his shoes...they let us move BACKwards...

So all the cheap seats are sold for Monday night, but Plenty of first tier and VIP... Which means I won't be going. I'm feeling like "Why is Prince so bling-y?".

Can someone please give me some advice? I'm choosing between floor section A, floor section B, lower section 116 row 1, VIP 4 tables, and VIP 3 tables. Any advice, considering the layout? I'm not familiar with what is "behind" the stage, where Prince is on stage the majority of time, etc.
Also, do you really think Wed. might be cancelled?
Thanks!! [Edited 2/18/11 16:51pm]

Really why do you care if you got your ticket? P has been doing this hit and run stuff for years if has not learned anything from it so be it. You are getting a chance to see Prince be happy

I can tell you about my experience seeing two concerts at the Izod with the symbol stage. The first night I had lower level seats on the side of the symbol where the cross bar is. The second night I had floor seats near the arrow tip of the symbol stage. Between the two, the lower level seats on the side had the best view because the stage is really high and huge speakers block your view of Prince at the arrow end. This time I chose lower level seats in sections 101 for Monday and 114 for Wednesday. If you do choose floor seats, sections A or B will probably offer the best views, not blocked by the speakers and equipment. Hope this helps. I am happy that he's coming. You must have missed the part where I mentioned it, so I took the liberty of bolding it. I'm just saying that they could sell a lot more tickets and not have to cancel shows like they did at IZOD if a little more planning went into it.
I sincerely hope that Wednesday doesn't get canceled. That would be good for fans and bad for scalpers. Discounted and otherwise easily available tickets is fine with me. Most of the sharp edges of my post are pointed at Wednesday and hoping that it happens. Hopefully a lot more tickets will sell in the coming days once more people find out. I guess there are plenty of folks out there who would go but are not in the informaton loop, or are out of town for the holiday weekend.
I would also attend a Thursday show if it were to happen. Wednesday is not a good day for me, but I might try to pull it off at the last minute.

Well, I guess Ticketmonster crashed. I can't get on the website and neither can my son on his computer. It could only be because of Prince, right? I've never had so much drama buying tickets...unless Prince is involved. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

SERIOUSLY!! I was there to see him in May in 2007 at the Orpheum in SF and FINALLY he's come back to give us some Love!!! Ill be there on Wednesday!! Got My Tickets YAY!!! Peace, Love, and some Purple Rain!!

choose either section A or B they're usually folding chairs BUT you'll be able to be up front to see him! VIP 3 and 4 are the back of the stage and you may not see him much...youll see his cute tush the entire time... same with 116 not the best view...my advice is Section A or B! Im speaking from experience here! the closer to the point of the stage the better the round area is where the band is ! hope that helped [Edited 2/18/11 19:33pm] Peace, Love, and some Purple Rain!!

I almost didn't go cuz of the bling-factor, too. I really hate concerts at big venues anyway, but hey... Gotta do it. Who knows what new religious beliefs he'll have next time I see him? Last time I saw him on the JOTY tour and he was in a fancy pajama funk revue mood back then too.

what's with the stage setup, the huge gap between the end of the stage and floor seats E and F must serve a purpose but I can't think of it. The MSG seating chart looks like the stage is way larger than the one shown for the oracle or maybe that's just because the oracle is a larger place. Anybody got any ideas?

Got sec. 229 row 4, YEAHHH
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The oracle is a large place. Those side areas like sections 105 have about 30 rows to them. The nosebleeds are real high up.
When I last went to Oracle, I was in the 106 type section and I would say that I was a fair distance from the stage, but I could see it decently. So using that as reference for scale, the grey space in there is not really that big. Bear in mind those 2 sections are hugging the mixing board which is not that big.

That'd be intense
dya think he'll play Yoshi's? Or is that too small?
Are there any good websites to check for aftershow updates besides dr funkenberry?

Wonderful news for all in the Bay Area (or who can get there in time)...but why is he announcing big shows only a week or so before the gigs?
Dang it, almost enough to make me wish I were still in California!
Everyone who goes, have a great time!!
And LOL at the way he's still using that stage from the Superbowl show! Very thrifty of him! [Edited 2/19/11 4:09am] "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. I'm glad he is using that stage...It's bad ass and the U.S. folks have never seen that stage live "Paisley Park is in your Heart"

I just checked Ticketmaster - still amazing tickets available! Section 128 Row 14 which would give you a fabulous view. Especially if that is the side where all the artists come in from the side to go to the stage. Watch for a single black case being rolled to the stage right before the show starts, that's him inside!

Has Prince been using the big screens lately? I'm trying to get some Cali relatives to go c Prince for the first time. I'm trying to figure out if it will be worth it to get nosebleeds. thx "The fanbase I have now, they're so sophisticated, they almost expect me to do the unexpected." -Prince
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
He did use the jumbo screens at IZOD and MSG, along with the symbol stage, so by anyone's guess it is possible he may be using the same type screens at that arena in Cali.

has anyone heard New Parish in Oakland as a possibility for an after show?
