Just a thought too. The aftershows have always been an added plus to the concerts. but lately it seems that fans have to come expect it, myself included, even though the past two concerts in NJ and NY I realize I'm too old for them now and too tired after the regular concerts so I go home. lol I just think we got spoiled. and maybe Prince is bothered by the sense of entitlement. Alot of artists don't even do aftershows. Maybe there's something to that. Now not excusing for those who waited outside, I do feel for you guys, I would have been dissappointed too, but Idk, many artists after a big concert retreat back to their own private world and the question is, is their right to, after all they already gave you a two hour show, now what more do you want? and maybe that is where Prince is. Just my two cents. Hope I'm making sense.

But still, our Purple love is forever, even if a Strange Relationship bheart

Well put!!!!! biggrin

Quite Frankly he really doesn't owe us anything but by the same token it never hurts to treat people right no matter...no matter. Still Love P and thank the Lord every time I get to see or hear him that he is still HERE showering us with his purple magic. Happy New Year Y'all!!!

Just want to say that I understand everyone's disappointment but what it all comes down to is that we can be happy Prince is still here and we can see him perform! biggrin As long as he does, there is always a chance for a "next time". Happy New Year and hopefully many many more purple ones to come with our favorite artist!

this thread reminds me of one from, oh i dunno, ten years ago where people stood in line outside of paisley park in subzero temps, one gal got frostbite, people nearly froze, and folks grew nearly hysterical when they did not make it inside. i actually waited for a while then went home, because it was too cold even for me.

then there was a huge debate (exactly like right now falloff ) about how it was alll prince's fault.

i'm not saying things shouldn't have been handled differently then and now, i'm only pointing out that this type of thing has been occurring for years when it comes ot prince's afterparties. live and learn. he has never, ever been predictable. smile

Very true. Starting in the early 90s. For the private parties/shows you just had to know who to work to get in. I'm sure it's the same way now too. Waiting in a line of fans will get you nowhere. cool

Wow. I feel bad for the fans that waited outside and didn´t get in, but as others have said in this thread those shows are always a gamble. Yall should really know this by now, you know how unpreditcable Prince can be about pretty much everything. I also am a bit miffed but not surpriesd at the ¨VIP¨treatment that´s been happening with the NYC aftershows as far as celebrities are concerned. They always seem to get special treatment for being celebs and regular folks kinda get pushed aside. It happens alot in NYC, so I guess I´m just used to it.

Prince esta muerto...

The after show was crazy at Butter. We as die hard Prince fans stayed out in the freezing cold for atleast two hours for nothing. I understand that celebraties usually get first priority, but do they truly love Prince like we do? Absolutely not. Prince has to realize who truly supports him. We sacrifice ourselves all the time for him. Even if a few fans could have gotten in, I would have felt better. I'm very sorry only celebraties, not his true fans got to see the show. The sad part of all of this is that real fans would do the same thing over and over again, just for the slight opportunity to see our beloved Prince perform. sad

No disrespect, but even if celebs are casual or diehard fans of his, it's obvious those who show up at those aftershows, are also fans of his. Aftershows are never guarantees for the non-celeb fans. If it's an announced or organized event ahead of time, with tix for purchase, then that's different, but yes a fan takes a chance/risk waiting to get into a show they were not personally invited to.

It's like many popular clubs in NYC that customers try to get in, and end up waiting for hours hoping to get in, but many don't unless they have some type of connection or the bodyguard at the door makes the choice. When the W2A press conference was held at the Apollo in October, it was "announced" through various sources/unofficial fan sites, that fans could attend and it was free. Although he didn't perform, he was nice enough to let fans at any level in to that free event, whether you were a diehard, casual or new fan. So yes, once in a while fans get freebies. To be honest, even if he did let some fans into some of those recent afterhows, some of them, not all, would have complained that he played the same old hits, forgetting this was not exactly a "private party specifically for them" instead of appreciating the fact that they were given the opportunity to be "let in" to a private event in the first place, whether Prince chose to play familiar songs or not for an aftershow.

So true.

Well said. Some people want to have everything ... and then they still find sth to complain about! And then they wonder why Prince is not more "fan friendly". - If you are never pleased with anything he does, how can you expect him to give more than he already does with his regular concerts?

Well I was one of the people who waited in line to go to the afterparty and when it got to 3am, I was done. My feet had had enough and I was FREEZING. Lucky for me, the 6 train was down the street and I took it home. lol Even with that, I don't regret going and it did NOT kill my night at all. I CHOSE to go down to Butter, even with the possibility of there not being a show or a show open to the general public. I knew all that going down there and I still had fun wating in line. It's just another story to add to great ones I have for the shows that have been here in NY. I just know now that if I hear there is an afterparty and not an aftershow, I will go home lol Fun times! biggrin

I was one of those with a decent spot waiting in the line 3 hrs. I will say if you weren't there then you can just 'state'ur opinion. The tour manager did make it seem like its "possible"then that went to "highly unlikely" I think it was wrong for the band members to tweet this if they knew it was closed or just share it with the persons/fans they would pull in. Before I go further it was MY CHOICE to take the chance and I'm not upset. I stood right in front at Butter in 2006. #2.Perhaps if the crowd was 30 or less, maybe we would get in...However over 100+were outside! Then Marcus dressed like Prince with about 12 people walks to the front EXPECTING ENTRY! Butter is a selective place where how one is dressed plays a huge part! Us standing outside just created buzz for the restaurant. Also who would man the fans security wise ? Not everyone has decorum around celebs. If P never does one again it's cool.

It also created buzz for Prince. I agree that the band should not have leaked it to the fans if we were not invited.

Sorry to hear you had to wait in line that long only to not be able to get in. Maybe the band members also thought that some fans would be able to get into Butter, when some of them tweeted about it. It's alright. It's not that serious to me. Maybe the band members thought we could go in, but like some have said, they and anyone else in Prince's camp shouldn't have put that out there unless they knew that fans could come in. Even with that, it didn't kill the spirit I had from hours earlier. I'm still excited about Jan 18th and all the other shows I've seen and I do hope we get a special intimate-type of show before Prince is done with the tri-state area.

What a shame, sorry to the folks that had to stand out there. Yes, we make a choice to do anything in life, people being disrespectful isn't cool though. I don't care if the aftershow was private or not, a simple "Sorry, no chance of getting in" would have been sufficient. Not telling folks that is wrong and that kind of crap really ticks me off. I wasn't there, but it still makes stories like this make Prince sound like a real ass...which in turns just makes diehard fans look like jackasses! I can hear the haters now.."ya'll are so stupid for dealing with Prince's shit, he is a jerk and don't deserve fans." lol

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol
