They should make this a sticky so that 10,000 other threads on this don't start popping up.

What a disorganized way to do a run of shows! I'm not surprised about the cancellation. As for the "production issues" reason given for cancelling the show at Izod, thats prob bull. As someone else on here speculates its prob more like they hadnt sold enough tkts for the IZOD shows so decided to pull the 14th.

disbelief

Usually in Princespeak "Production issues" means bad ticket sales. So far the only "production issues" shows that didn't get cancelled but postponed, was the Antwerp show.

Three times 20.000 was too much I guess. None of them were sold out. And if they are giving 15th tickets to 14th people, the 15th isn't well sold either.

no promotion other than a news conference. No new album other than 2010 that was only given away in Europe, no TV appearences, etc. Compare that to the Musicology tour that had major coordination of tv appearances, promotions, new album that was pretty good, HOA induction, Grammy's appearance, music videos to support the most successful tour of the year, I think 11 sold out shows (or almost sold out) between NY/NJ/CTand Philly and you will see even for a superstar, promotion and the media matters unless you are doing a show or two. To try to sell out five dates in a week in this economy with no new album or promotion was pushing it.

Drama already? Man, I gotta say, I just finished reading "Possessed" and this sounds like the type of thing that contributed to him losing fans. We are in a recession. This was reckless, inconsiderate and downright wrong. Who know's who is to blame. Bottom line, Prince doesn't need more of this type of activity surrounding anything he is involved in. Still love you Prince, but I'm glad I didn't trust in you and buy airline tickets, etc. I know many fans who are out several hundred dollars. So lame.

I was wondering about that. It's close to the time of the shows for NY/NJ and I haven't seen one tv commercial. I've seen no advertisements in the subways, on the buses, etc. I'm not so sure there's even a billboard in Times Square advertising this concert yet<<-- That would would have been a good promotional tool, especially with so many tourists that will be here during this month. I have however heard the promotion on the radio, but how many folks really listen to the radio anymore? I did see an advertisement of it, on one of the screens in a shopping mall.

I have seen the advertisement on various websites. For the musicology tour, the advertisement for that tour, was plastered everywhere you looked in NYC. Wonder what's up with LiveNation and promoting this one. They need to get going on promoting this more, if they expect to sell more tix for the NJ and upcoming Jan 18th show at MSG.

I guess it's for the people who purchased tickets for the 12/14 show. They get first dibs for the January 18th show at MSG. The sale for the General public is not until Dec 10th.

You mean refunds for the 14th because you don't want extra tickets on the 15th?

Yes, you can easily get a refund for the 14th. According to the email, if you do nothing, you will automatically get a refund for the 14th.

If u mean u also bought tkts 4 the 14th then yes, u have the option of a refund 4 the 14th. If u mean u only bought tkts 4 the 15th and want a refund on those, then no they wont, they never give refunds 4 an event that goes ahead on the original date advertised. Hope this is clear smile

My best tickets were for the 14th show!!! mad sad I was so excited about opening night too. Sucks so bad cause now I can only go to 2 shows...hopefully they won't cancel those too. I now have to change travel details and hotel details...this is quite depressing. I can't even finish my dissertation I'm so bummed out! And will probably reschedule my final that's tomorrow, I can't concentrate under this kind of stress.. I think I'm gonna cry!

I won't be attending the new MSG show I don't guess cause that's 2 trips to NY area and that's kind expensive and that's around the time a new semester is starting, and more time to take off work. I was getting all excited too, counting down the days...this is going to ruin my whole weekend now!

hug Me too! very good seat on 14th! but I'm not going to cry, I got to reschedule my plan very soon.

hug It's a real bummer...I'm getting nervous about the other tickets. I haven't been able to get Ticketmaster on the phone yet. I have tickets to the 15th show already. I would be willing to change them to the tickets they are offereing me in exchange for the 14th show, since they are better, but only if they will refund my tickets I already have for the 15th. Otherwise, then I just want a refund. I slept all of 2 hours maybe last night...so disappointed!

ohhh that sux. i hate jersey but i guess i am spoiled with the closeness of many concert venues.

Yeah you're lucky you live so close to venues, everyone comes to NY. No one comes to where I live. So every concert I have to travel to and to save money I get the cheapest travel stuff and that's usually nonrefundable...which sucks.

You know what's messes up? I was so upset and sad about it last night, I couldn't finish my dissertation, so I did what I usually do...put it up and popped in the headphones to listen to some music. And who did I listen to? Prince! Only thing that can make me feel better, so freaking ironic!

My tickets were for the 14th show as well. My son's graduation is on the 16th, so going to the show on the 15th would be cutting it kinda close to be able to get back in time. I will be out $300 either way I go due to changing my flight/hotel reservations thru priceline. I was flying in from Fla. I was so sick to my stomach when I got the email that the 14th had been cancelled! Although I hate to wait another month, I guess we are going to try to go to the 1/18 show. If he cancels that one, I will personally fly to Minneapolis and strangle him myself!

I so feel for you both! I just spent hours on the phone last night and today trying to find out what was going on with the NJ concerts and ticketmaster. I bought tix for the 14th and 15th. Apparently, there was such a problem with the Prince account at Ticketmaster last night that they shut down for maintenance (they aren't too thrilled with P right now either! LOL). When I called about the cancellation for the 14th tickets there was big confusion on the part of the customer service rep. When I explained that the show was cancelled and I wanted a refund, he insisted that the tix were exchanged for the 15th. I then had to explain over and over that I did not authorize the exchange, but that I already had tix for the 15th which were better than what I was being offered. Finally, after waiting on hold forever, customer service told me that the refund charged back on credit cards would not be authorized until Dec. 7th. I would highly encourage anyone dealing with this to call back on that date and make sure that you get your money back! If the Dec. 15th concert will be cancelled, I am done with Prince concerts. I can't change my plane tix now--it would cost me an additional $600 in penalties and fare increases to do so! That may be chump change to Prince, but it sure as hell ain't to me! This is no way to run promotion and handling for a concert series--not two weeks before the dates! I exchanged tix to Dec. 17th also but can't go because of the plane fare expenses if I change dates. So, now I'm stuck with one concert and the affordable plane fare I already had. Not too happy right now. Just hope he doesn't up and cancel the rest of the NJ dates. razz confused

I almost cried when I found out - but decided to make lemonade of out lemons and go to the 15th show. Still flying in on the 14th - got unbelievable airfare $135 round trip from Minneapolis. Now I'm gonna just get a one way home on Thursday - it's cheaper and easier than paying all sorts of change fees, etc. With the extra night in hotel and extra day of car rental and taking off one more day of work, I figure Prince owes me about $500. Gonna try to find him on the 14th and ask him for it.

tinkerbell I'll wait until Spring. Maybe by then whoever is in charge along with Prince, will have all the kinks worked out and the "Time" will perform on the same stage. Now that's worth waiting for...and hopeful thinking.

Glad I listened since I was coming from Texas to NYC during THE most expensive time of the year. I had an inkling this shit wasn't gonna jump off right. And frankly, I can't jump through no more hoops for Princey. Announce a proper tour or do another stint in Vegas, I'm down. But all this last minute shit with less than 1 month to the show dates, I ain't doing it. Good luck to those with tix tho. peace!

^ I have a canceled ticket. I guess I'm just not well versed enough in princeology neutral to know that the tickets would be b.s.

I'm just gonna take the refund. Ticketmaster and/or Prince simply have no respect, and they won't get the opportunity to play with any more of my time and money.

PRINCE Adds Another Tour Date To Madison Square Garden!

http://www.drfunkenberry.com/

On the heels of a show being cancelled at the Izod Center for a “scheduling” conflict, PRINCE has added another date to his sold out stint at Madison Square Garden.

On January 18th, the funkateer himself will be playing MSG. Tickets for the concert event will go on sale Friday, December 10th.

As the shows in New York and New Jersey grow closer, the Doc is having a feeling he made a wrong decision not planning to go. All that funk and all those berrys with no Dr.? Big mistake. Huge.

Don’t be like me. The hottest ticket in New York and New Jersey is PRINCE in December. It also looks it will be staying that way til January.

It might be rather chilly in New York right now but we know PRINCE will be warming it up with some funk, so make sure to get your tickets for the January 18th show……oh yea…and for that funk…..don’t forget your foot spray!-Dr.FB

With Prince these days, odds on he will cock it up. If he got a decent manager and arranged tours with longer notice, he wouldn't keep dicking fans around all the time.

The buck stops firmly with Prince and he whimsicle control obsessions.

Has this happened to anyone?

I emailed ticketmaster and asked one simple question Are there refunds for the Dec 15th show?

They email me 2 days later (today) saying your concert tickets were canceled and you have been given a refund. I was shocked all I asked was a question and I was given a refund, I didn't even know they give refunds my email. I might just have to go to the Jan 18th
