SHARE CONCERT EXPERIENCES AND QUESTIONS HERE

I'm still excited about last night's concert in Antwerpen. Probably like me; you scan setlist during last series of concerts in Europe.

I think it's a wonderful reading what is played in Italy, Denmark, Norway, France and how people experienced their concert. Mostly it's checking out setlists and length of the show, after shows, but I would like to hear more details.

So maybe we can get deeper than the setlist's and share more details (or maybe answer eachother questions: Don't know if this will work out in one topic. But I want to try by starting a few questions :

Prince threw his quitar in the audience as far as I could see. Did someone catch his quitar during a concert? and how soon was security there to take it back.

Can anyone tell or show what his quitar picks (plectrums) look like. Any lucky prince.orgers who caught a guitar-pick?

Bring on those stories of you dancing on stage; did someone have a short word with Prince. Laughed my ass off yesterday, when Prince 3 times tried to high five with a fan almost twice his size biggrin. And the girl who kissed him yesterday, seemed to ask him if she could give him a kiss?

So anymore funny stories or more questions. Ask and share it and bring on the fun !!!

Monday in Antwerp was such a high, I'm still blown away...besides the music and a magical Prince there were a lot of fun things to see. Like when he buttoned down his shirt and afterwards, when the song ended, Prince walked towards the back to button it up again, and when he turned around it wasn't quit done how it's supposed to be, so cute. He noticed and redid it.

A while later during the encores he decided to do another song and told the band which one, but John Blackwell didn't hear what he said, Prince replied again and still he didn't get it, then Prince waved and said he should ask Ida for it but she was turned away so John paniced a bit and just in time he got in touch with her and started the song...don't remember exactly but could have been The love we make...anyone else?

I love to see the interaction between Prince and the band on stage...

I was front row again last Monday and had a perfect view on stage. A few things that happened on stage / front row that people in the back might not have noticed:

- at the start his fan was turned off (I was in front of it) and he asked a couple of times to put it on

- twice some technicians came on stage to repair equipment (like putting some tape on the monitors in front of Prince)

- together with some other ppl I caught the guitar (not the bass one), it was taken back by security in seconds

- loads of stuff were thrown in the audience (several drum sticks - caught one - , towels, guitar picks, one guy next me caught 3(!) of them)

- one of the ppl on stage 'stole' guitar picks (which were stored next to P's guitar equipment)

- he indeed buttoned up his shirt incorrectly

- he was not wearing underpants and is a lefty biggrin (I pointed this out to a friend which never stood so close and she was like eek )

- band members are watching Prince al the time to not miss a cue

- Prince fooled/scared one of the ppl on stage twice

- several ppl on stage touching Prince and one lady asking him permission to kiss him (which she did)

- before the encores Prince changed his high heels for the flat ones

This show is really in my top 3 and it was by far the longest show I have ever seen. It was pure joy to see him playing with so much fun and enthusiasm! The dancing and guitar playing was too cool. He even played some songs I never heard live and really wanted to hear (The love we make, Dreamer) as well as some of my favorites which I have not heard in a long time (Shhh (always gets me emotional) and She is always in my hair).

Look forward to coming Thursday but I don't think that that show will beat this one.

uhm, this thread is actually about trivial stuff...so why get nasty? of course the music and performance are the main thing during the show, but it's nice to also witness what else is going on. Sure, the fan thing might not be superinteresting (superhero did mention other facts too) but if you were a bit more in the back of the Pit it's nice to get some answers, I too wondered why the technicians came back all the time and was curious about what happened with the guitar... so thanks for sharing SuperHero!

@ dayzofwyld : We got a life, this site is only about Prince "FANS" wink

This is indeed about trivial stuff, the inns and outs, funny and little interesting or stupid things we fans notice. Thanks Superhero for all details, can't get enough if these fans stories.

It makes me happy to read fans experiences, expecially front row, the eye contacts or stupid things aren't mentioned in setlists or newspapers.

Wonderfull picture rmartin70 !!!!!!!! Who doesn't dig this kind of stuff... Made the picture yourself and were you on stage during A love Bizar, or did you just google it ....

Bring it on, stories or questions, let's share our enthousiasm.

By the way, I found it pretty cool Mr. Hayes came into the Golden Circle to pose for pictures with the fans after the Antwerpen Show.

Looking forward to Arnhem. Hoping for Little Red Corvette and more stories.

If he didn't do music, he should've done stand-up comedy. He is very funny.

Somebody else posted the picture previously, I cannot take credit for taking it. I have seen Prince from the front row a few times and making eye contact with the man is amazing and I am a straight dude. As I have said before, I have been to over 200 concerts by various performers and none of them compare with Prince. Yeah, Mr. hayes is one cool individual. I talked to him a couple of times at 3121.

given that most cell phones now have cameras i do not see how they could stop you. Even years ago there were loads of people taking photos. In a recent concert you can see 20 cameras alll out all taking photos if not video. So i am thinking it is safe to take in a camera.

In Antwerp there was security walking inside the golden circle. Constantly watching ppl taking pictures (even with cellphones). I don't know if this is initiated by Prince or normal security thing in Antwerp Sportpaleis?

They didn't take camera's, they just told ppl not to film or take pictures or they put there hand before your camera while shooting. A bit funny when they were telling someone not to do it while there were 7 fans still taking pictures next to him.

To be sure I would use your cellphone, cameras could be taken away at the door I think. I suggest to see Prince with your eyes instead of being busy with taking pictures of poor quality, which you can find the next day on the internet, but that's my opinion.

Any front rowers or dancers on stage can confirm if Prince has a setlist on stage?

The first hour till Purple Rain seem to have 2 different setlists they choose to play and from than it seems like Prince is picking between 20 songs in random order.

As someone told a funny story of John not hearing Prince which song to play, can someone confirm a setlist on paper or Prince constantly calling for the next song?

Your opinion is great, I hate when people spend the whole show blocking peoples views and disrespecting the performers request of no pictures. I think it is extremely rude. There was someone that posted a bunch of pics from a recent show and they must have missed half the show while looking at their camera/phone. Maybe if these people did not drink so much at the show they would actually remember what they saw and not need a photo to remind them.

yeahthat

Your personal memory is so much more worth then what your camera is recording. Your mind gives you the whole xperience with all the feelings attached to it, while the video you watch after the concert only gives you an image.

Ooh lala...where to begin....I am in serious danger of becoming a fam! razz

Brilliant, on fire, an experience like none I've had in a long time...the visuals, the lights, the setlist (what's that?) I don't really care, it was just SO AMAZING! My friend, is 34 and listened to PR when she was 10 and knew nothing further of Prince, Symbol being her last album. I'm happy to say she has been directly converted tonight....man..we flew back from Arnhem in the car, on a high.....even singing, believe it not "Everybody loves me" at the top of our lungs. Yup, that's what Prince and band gives you....LOTS AND LOTS OF endorphines! love

There were so many magic moments and I'm still toO excited to remember them all, it's gotta all sink in. Thanks (u no who) 4 posting the setlist.

The beginning....traffic was so bad, we got inside at 8:20. Parking was perfect, literally at the door and Prince was playing an instrumental piece. Stratus. I'm so glad he didn't start with Lets go Crazy coz we would have missed it. The lights were on and it was packed! Unbelievable the crowds that man draws and you watch people around, in awe and respect just listening. We moved to the middle of the standing hall. I was so disappointed at first. neutral I thought what am I doing here, I mean honestly, you cannot see a thing! Only on the screen, and I'm not short!

People often say when they see videos, the crowd is dead and not moving and it's true it seems that way, but honestly it's because it's so jam packed, you can't move! What you can do is raise your arms and jump razz I am going to be so sore tomorrow, I did enough head bops for a year but it will be a joyful pain. We moved to the back later on and it was much better, more space, better for dancing and the view is NO DIFFERENT! But next time, I definitely want a seat so I can see PRINCE all the time! Or Prince has to grow!

He wore I think a brown suit with a beautiful blue silk shirt and later changed into something black. He likes Holland, of course, he didn't say love and he had a Dutch blond girl (I think) come and sit on the piano while he sang a song! razz Real cute.

What i picked up from the entire show is that the sound was so much better than Belgium, maybe because it was inside, but no ...there was so much DIRTY bass and booom boom and that DA....da-da -da-da....solo from Mr Blackwell, it goes right through your body pumping your heart. heart

excited

Prince sang the first line of Uptown in falsetto then changed. The lights went out after part one and throughout thereafter, there were fantastic visuals, plus in this show I heard so many different instruments and sounds. And oh it's such kick when you hear a thousandth of a sound and know what track will be next even when the intro is long. Controversy showed black and white visuals....I can't remember which song he did with the candles as the background but it was all magic!

Prince played drums razz and later when people went on stage to dance, he played with one drumstick still with his guitar. And oh oh oh! He was playing some real bassy groovy funky guitar stuff and Ida (the one with long beautiful curls) played with him on his guitar. Her hands on top and his underneath. Cool! cool

He started PR with Ooooh oooh...quite a few times and after the first bar everybody burst into massive applause. It's his signature. Prince = Purple Rain.

The man is just so full of love, life, fun, energy, funk and soul it's as if he comes in with a match and puts the party on fire! Honestly that's how it felt and my mood went from pensive to absolute joy in minutes. Well, he builds it up just right. Like when you've been dancing to house music for two hours or so and you're sweaty, on adrenalin and can only feel the music....that's what Prince did, but he does it LIVE! Really what a concert!

Oh he was so naughty with Kiss. He k-ed us....then he Ki--ed us...then he Kis-ed us...playing and teasing and not KISSING US! He would just start and we've all groove and then the lights out and it stopped. lol But he did eventually kiss us and he spoke of "desperate housewives" which is better than sex in the city. cool Or whatever one he usually does. Yet that disappointed my young friend. She grew up with Pearl Jam and she wanted to hear "Dynasty." Grappig.

I said earlier I wanted 1999 off the Prince playlist...but you know what "mommy...why does everybody have a bomb?" It can stay. cool

There were some really nice looking guys and girls around. Young and middle aged crowd. Ja dat is toch ook belangrijk lol

Prince is really alive when he dances. He's so funky it's so much fun to watch yet, it's hard when you're getting your own groove to also look. The music at some point is just such a flow, it's a sin to stop moving. I wanted to dance until 6 o'clock non-stop!

He asked everyone to show us their cells. I didn't, although I had mine, but I must say it's very pretty when everyone does it. Then he said "I'm going to get/you find/you " or something to that effect. lol I mean there were SO many. There will surely be plenty of films to see soon and I hope they stay, coz damn, you can't see everything at the concert anyway. TOO MANY PEOPLE!

We left after little red corvette which was perfect timing coz we had no traffic back! Asked around with those with i-phones but same aftershow "rumours." I am really happy it was not Eindhoven or Utrecht. If it were to be anywhere it should be A'dam. But am quite happy to forgo it all if John B needs to get home. Prince needs to take care of him.

I have so much respect that John Blackwell was at our concert in Holland. It must be so hard and yet he played with I don't know......so much soul and he's so good, all that boom boom boom just puts me into a trance.

The girls also did a great job, it's true there are a lot of covers but I was so happy with Shake your body and of course Mountains, which AGAIN sounded funkily different! Amazing!

With the large crowd, Prince should know that he is dearly loved in Holland and lets hope that he doesn't wait another 8 years before he comes again. If so, maybe I will have to fly to the States to see him.

Oh boy...didn't I say I was in danger of becoming a fam? razz

MUSIC=LOVE=LIFE=ENERGY-SOUL

Nightie night folks. A bientot.
