TICKET PRICES NEED TO BE LOWERED AT THE IZOD CENTER IF PRINCE WANTS TO SELL OUT!!

Hey Everyone............

Ok....I just looked up tickets at the IZOD CENTER for all three performances being held on TUES DEC 14th, WED DEC 15th and FRI DEC 17th and there are still plenty of excellent seats still available. There are even a few $20.10 seats available for DEC 17th as well up in section 228 row 23 as I write this post. Then I wanted to see what seats would be available for the $56.00 price range for the same event and what came up was sec 228 row 16. Now this is WAY OUT OF LINE!!

LIVE NATION needs to lower their prices on the remaining seats if they intend to see a COMPLETE SOLD OUT house!! I also have been talking to many many PRINCE fans who would love to go see the MPLS GENIUS but in truth just do not have the $$$ that LIVE NATION wants for folks to go. COME ON NOW....$56.00 to sit way upstairs......this is what many are complaining about. This is what is being said directly....." WHY SHOULD I PAY $56.00 PER TICKET FOR TWO TICKETS AT A COST OF $112.00 TO SIT WAY UPSTAIRS IN THE NOSEBLEED SEATS!! THOSE SEATS SHOULD BE $20.10!! ALL OF THE UPPER SECTIONS SHOULD BE $20.10 AT THE IZOD CENTER! THESE ARE VERY DIFFICULT TIMES FOR EVERYONE AND THIS RECESSION IS FAR FROM OVER!!"

LIVE NATION is going to find that there are limits to just how far the general public will go and with these not sold out shows at the IZOD CENTER....well it is way clear. I have seen PRINCE 16 times over the course of the last 26 years and the PRICES for these FIVE shows are the ABSOLUTE HIGHEST I have ever seen for a PRINCE concert!! Again it is understood if LIVE NATION wants to charge $125.00 to sit downstairs on the floor per ticket fine....but once you get to the next sections all tickets should be priced way fair accordingly. ALL THE UPPER ROWS should be $20.10 and then the lower rows should be $56.00!! LIVE NATION are proving to the music world that they are WAY OUT OF CONTROL and the POWERS THAT BE are nothing but a bunch of GREEDY FOOLS!!

I will admit I love to go see PRINCE LIVE and for me there is nothing in the world quite like the experience........but I almost did not get tickets for these shows due to the HIGH PRICES that show the fan base that they are being more than taken advantage of.I had to go with the few $20.10 tickets that I was able to find.......and trust me they were not easy to get at the GARDEN in NYC!!

OK? lol

I believe I paid about $ 125-150 for a inner circle ticket in Denmark.

Fair price - I am happy, I wouldn't complain about that.

ok my ADHD didn't let me read such a long post cause my attention span sux but i will say this..how is that fair to me being i paid $180 after all the extra charges face value for the prices to be lowered and the drunk idiot next to me gets in cheaper?!!! ok they can pay more for a scapler but some asshole who waited and wasn't freaking out over the presale passwords and unable to wake up and be on ticketmaster for the presale or on the phone on hold waiting for the general public sale to PAY LESS THEN ME. FUCKING UTTER BULLSHIT.

when i went to see judas priest and whitesnake there were ppl there from the venue with posters on their bodies walking around trying to sell the lawn seats for 10 bux to some upcoming concert there. BULLSHIT. then if they lower prices be like that priceline or orbitz...one of them that sends the difference to all the ppl who bought it. so if the tickets go from 159 to 100. that venue better send me my 59 difference bitches

Live Nation only lowers tickets if sales are horrible. If you have their (and Ticketmaster) emails, sometimes they have 2 for 1 deals on shows not doing well.

There's always a way to get money to see a show, just start looking around to see what you could sell off that you have no need for, or get coffee straight instead of a 4 dollar caramel macchiato twice a day, kick back a few nights instead of hitting the clubs where you're blowing through expensive drinks.

$20.10 gets you in the venue. That's better than what some other people will be doing, which is groveling for tickets the night of the show. And if you're really good, you'll find a way to get a closer view, even if you don't make it to the floor.

Irving Azoff had said he wanted to drive the ticket prices of nosebleeds down to make shows more affordable to the general public, but he has to compensate for that by driving the prices up for the premium seats, the ones the people with deep pockets and renting limos are going to be attending the show. Of course, most people are on foot or riding the rails at the MSG shows.

I just want to know why some people are SO OBSESSED with the New Jersey shows and how many tickets are left. I find it odd that there are so many threads/posts.

If you got your tickets, then WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL?! confused

Take some time to think logically and not like a FAM who worries about every little thing Prince does or doesn't do. lol

The average person (not spending their time on a fan site) might like Prince, but are not willing to be inconvenienced...

  • The first two IZOD shows are on a Tuesday and a Wednesday, the week before Christmas. A lot of people can't/don't want to stay out all night on a weekday, esp. if they're planning on taking time off the following week.
  • The Friday night show is fine, but if you work a 9-5 job, rushing to get to IZOD can be a hassle for the Friday night show.
  • The MSG shows are on a Saturday night (18) and over the holiday week, when a lot of people take vacation days or are off (29).

And the assumption that "real fans wouldn't miss Prince for anything" isn't fair either (see FAM comment above):

  • "I'm sorry Johnny and Jane... I didn't buy you Christmas/Hanukkah gifts because I needed to rock out to Prince."

How low does the price have to be? They already have tix between $20 and $60 which is not bad for the IZOD. The tix at MSG are always more expensive, and the W2A tix, were/are just a few dollars more than the IZOD. People proved they were willing to pay $500 and $750 at MSG, when the tix went on sale for table seats, and $200 for floor and lower loge seats, so that sends a message to LiveNation, that people were willing to fork over the price charged. Besides, people were willing to pay $20.10 for those nosebleed seats at MSG, and the nosebleed seats at MSG are much further away from the stage and in view, than the nosebleed $20.10 seats at IZOD, because the IZOD Center is much smaller than the MSG Arena. I think people are forgetting that the nosebleed seats at MSG, and the shows in NJ, during the Musicology tour, was much more expensive.

Hard economic times or not, everyone is still trying to get paid, and most people by now, are aware we are going through some hard, economic times, so you have to determine what extras you can afford. Don't forget less than 4 years ago, some people were paying $312.00 plus to see Prince, and that did not include airfare/taxi/hotel/food, so right now between $20 and $200, is a bargain. Those who could afford to pay $500 and $750, is seeing the same show someone who paid $200 and less for. Also, remember these are Arenas, so it's not like you're paying to see him perform in a small venue.

The thing is, LiveNation advertised 2 shows at MSG, which is convenent travel for those who already live within the boroughs of NYC, regardless of what day the shows fall on, people will attend, which is probably why the shows sold out faster. Plus, Manhattan is a tourist magnet, so there's always available people looking for something to do. They don't call NY the "City that never sleeps" for nothing.lol

If there was a show at Nassau Coliseum on the Long Island, NY end, that may not sell out as fast as the MSG shows mainly because transportation is not that convenient, in getting to that venue, and the buses stop running at a certain time, so most people would drive to get there, and it's pretty much not in an area that has that many places close to it, where you can hang out before the show.

I noticed that happened during the Musicology shows in 2004, when they added a show at Nassau Coliseum. There was still tix left the day before/day of the show. I think it's a matter of how convenient transportation is, and how easy access is to hotels for those out-of-town, who want to get to these shows.. Maybe they should have added a 3rd show to MSG and gave the IZOD just 2 shows closer to end of the week, like a Thurs/Fri or Fri/Sat., which would have been better, and tix may have sold out faster at the IZOD. From what I've heard, the IZOD center is nice place to enjoy a concert.

I have a feeling as it gets closer to the show dates at IZOD, that more people will buy tickets, but LiveNation, needs to start advertising these shows again, because I really haven't seen much advertisement, one week after the tix went on sale. LiveNaton should get a billboard up in Times Square, about the W2A tour, and advertise those shows in that area, since that area is full of tourists/NY pedestrians on a daily basis. They need to go where the money is and know how to follow it.

Ok, as I read all of these threads I have determined that the majority of ya'll are delusional and have the attention span of a tsetse fly.

I mean am I the only one to recognize and accept that Prince is the last person that one would call predictable, and that he is mostly likely to complete opposite of what people assume (remember the old lesson "when you assume you make an Ass out of U and Me).

With no clear indication that he was going to do ANY tours in the USA Prince suddenly holds a press conference announcing a tour that is going to start an unknown date and at an unknown location. Everyone assumed that the tour would start off at the Apollo, when wait for it...he has 3 shows in NJ @ the Izod Center and 2 at MSG. Of course, MSG sells out, look at the dates (weekend and during the holiday) and the location (a major hub of public ground transportation). Now NJ isn't a bad place for him to go but the dates aren't the best for trying to get people to want to sell out the place...pre-Xmas, weekday shows. Can people get there? Yes, via public transportation and car. The cost to drive into or out of NY/NJ is the same either way and parking costs are horrendous either way (one negative for NYC parking is that the garage attendents all think they are in the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds."). While who has it harder, Jersey people heading to NY or NY people venturing to NJ is an interesting debate, the more important thing is that people are ASSUMING that Prince is going to add more NYC shows IF the NJ shows sell out. That assumption is based upon rumor and wishful think, just like the one that he's going to hand any of us the keys to the Vault. NOT!

To all of this I have to say IF you really want to see Prince in concert this year especially at this stage in the game (he's 52, bad hip, getting more and more unpredictable, and probably passed tired of all of the fan(atics) demands and expectations) then buy a ticket to see him whereever you can see him...NJ and/or NY. Tomorrow is not promised for so many reason. Livenation may lower the ticket prices to have a sold out arena, but Prince may decide to not do anymore shows period too.

lol I remember my very first Prince concert at MSG back in the day, and I was sitting in the nosebleed seats up in the 400 section, and I had a pair of binoculars, when I found out how high the seats were from the stage area. There were no other tickets available at the time, but I still had a great time. So no matter which venue you attend, you're going to have a good time watching Prince bring the Purple Funk.

My very first was at Radio City in 1993. I was in the highest tier, just about the last row. But I was so happy to be there! nod

I'm not gonna lie, tho. I don't want to be up that high anymore- I'm old and the equilibrium is not as good. lol

But I also don't need to be up on the stage, either. I realize that Prince is not checkin' for me for a number of reasons. lurking giggle

I realize that Prince is not checkin' for me for a number of reasons. lurking giggle

what u got a restraining order or something? j/k hug

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

lol I hear you, I mean it's great if you've had the opportunity to see him perform in a small venue, and were able to be close to the stage or get to dance on stage, and you could share those memories with other Prince fans, but you don't even need to be directly up front to enjoy the show. If it's a small venue, then you may not want to be too far from the stage area, especially if the stage is not high enough for you to see over the tall, Prince fans. If it's a well-raised stage, like at the Gansevoort Hotel, in NYC, then anywhere you stood, you were able to see the performance, to be honest. At Butter Restaurant in NYC, there was no stage, so it was hard for many fans who were standing about 7 rows back to get a good view. Some people were even standing on top of some tables, so they could see.

I've had my chances to be close to the stage and enjoyed it each time. A couple of rows back is not bad, but too far back, my vision is not as sharp as it used to be, and I don't know about standing up long hours anymore, watching a show. Sitting in the 300 and 400 section at MSG is not going to work for me, because of my vision. I have tix for 12/29 in a 200 section, which is not a bad view from there at all. If anymoe tix open up for 12/18 closer to the show, I may buy a ticket for that show as well.

For any NY fans going to the 12/17 show at IZOD, if they don't want to deal with the transportation to get back home that night, they could always consider staying overnight in a hotel near the IZOD, and leaving the next day, if they have the extra funds.

if u have seen any of the footage from the o2 arena, there will be video screens for all 2 see so that if u can't see him close, u'll be able 2 look at the screens from time to time.

Cool. The only footage I've seen of the O2 Arena, is the snippet they showed at the Apollo Press Conference. At the musicology tour they had tv monitors, which was okay, but not that great. I sure hope the video screens you speak of, are large enough to show a great view. If that's the case, then those screens would be a huge help to those in the 300 and 400 sections at MSG.
