I am a die hard Prince fan, I have never been able to attend a show due to being a single mother, not having extra money, or no shows close enough to me when I did have the money. To say I am excited is an understatement. It's the ONLY thing I have ever wanted so bad that hasn't faded over the years. Finally I am going to the show on the 15th!!!! Question...what do I wear?

You HAVE to wear Purple!! That's what I did my first show...the entire time when I was picking my outfit for the shows I was wondering..."will Prince like this?" I'll be doing the same thing for the NJ shows, I'm already looking for cute outfits for the shows and possible after parties!! Don't forget the cute accesories, I've got my Prince necklace, my symbol necklace, and cute earrings!!

I'm so happy for you! I remember my first Prince concert and...actually I remember very little of it because I was so gobsmacked to be in the same room

As to what to wear, it depends on what you hope to get from the show.

If you want to be be Mrs. Nelson #3, dress to the nines and be ready for disappointment.

If you want to enjoy the show, wear something you feel beautiful in and forget the foot spray, just wear some shoes that won't kill your feet.

my first show too!i mean he hasnt toured this area since 04! i finally won a prince symbol necklace off ebay today!! i may win both i bid on. the graffiti bridge style one. i made my own prince symbol necklace,..

i found this adorable dress at burlington coat factory recently. i'm sure it will have a appearace at one of the 5 shows...

but with a jacket and tights

Pretty dress!! I am not disillusioned about becoming Mrs. Nelson #3. LOL I'm 5' 10" that alone cancels me out. I just wanna be dressed appropriately for the occasion. So I'm thinking something in between prom dress and jeans. I will be rocking something sexy just don't have a clue what yet.

After I went to a Springsteen concert, I was shocked and appalled at the tailgaiting ritual... It was almost an hour into the show before the stadium filled up.

I joked: "Prince Fans arrive early, but we "Tail-HATE"- standing around checking out each others' outfits."

I have worn everything from jeans and a white shirt to a glittered jumpsuit. There was some crazy, sexy, and "what the hell was I thinking" along the way...

I hate when people wear concert tee shirts to a concert. My personal thing.

I also hate "costumes"- guys who are stuck as extras in Purple Rain, and girls who think they're proteges

Yeah... so are we. Just take it home (or leave it home from last time) and come to the show.

I don't know. I'll wear my jersey to a baseball game- I'll represent for my team (and I have METS sneakers ).

Concert tees make me cringe. I just feel like when I go to a show, I want to exert my individuality.

Like I said... it's my personal thing.

The days are FLYING by! I feel like I'm never going to finish.... the concerts are right at the end of the Semester.

Happy for you, my first concert was about 30 years ago. Have fun , WISH I WAS THERE.!!!!!!!!!

Well, I wore a purple mini skirt, black tank top w/a see-thru blouse over it, and black knee high boots!! I bought the boots just for the occasion, I wanted something that was pretty dressy looking, but would be comfortable to dance in..and it worked out well.

I choose the tank top because you get hot with all that dancing, even if its cold outside. The 2 hours I stood in the freezing rain I was thinking "I should have worn a bigger coat" But as soon as I got in with all those people around and me dancing, I was so glad I didn't wear a bigger coat! It gets HOT!! Especially when Prince is singing Shhh and asks you "am I getting you HOT?" and then sings IIWYG and asks "Can I touch you there?" Hmmm, I can't wait for December to get here!!!

So I would say, wear something really, really cute...its a big occasion and you should feel totally beautiful! I would wear something that if you plan on dancing, won't make your feet hurt too much. Heels always make my feet hurt, but beauty hurts sometimes right? I will more than likely wear a skirt or dress to all 3 shows, cause I do want to look really good. Plus...you never know who might glance over at you... Just ask yourself when picking out an outfit "would Prince like this or pick this for me?"

As the other members have pointed out you have to wear Purple. Everything doesn't have to be purple but at least some purple. The good thing for me is purple has always been my favorite color. There is just something about purple that I have always loved. Congratulation on being able to go see Prince sassy you will have an fantastic time. I wish I could say I have seen him live but I have not. I am at the moment disabled from a car accident have been this way for over 4 years and so want to go see Prince live and it really bites that I may not be able to go see him. I can only hope to see Prince before his last tour, and I hope he is still touring in his 90's If anyone wonders the 163 in my name was my first badge number (retired cop) it also stands for 1+6=7 3 times the complete perfect number.

I know!! I've already informed instructors that I'm going to have to take finals early!! And I've had to postpone my clinical finals until after Christmas!! This was a serious issue with the medical board!! Oh well, Prince is worth it!

So instead of enjoying the holidays, I'm going to be stressing about clinicals...well, on second thought, not really, cause I'll be seeing Prince and will completely forget about clinicals during the shows and will be on a natural high weeks afters!!

i was gonna have a fancy tunic top and pant suit made with silver thread embroidering. But i am 5'10 and fat. Does he even look at fat girls. if i was standing next to a hottie and there was one seat left at an aftershow who would get it?

i have to wonder about what it says about people who love the color purple as opposed to green. I have always since little loved purple and wear it everyday almost. If something is in purple I buy it, clothes, decorations ect. Just love the color, its perfect. the best color!

I'm not sure what I am wearing yet but I doubt it will be purple. I like puurple, have a nice bit of purple in my closet, but my favorite colors are blue and red. I will probably wearing red because it was also my Mom's favorite color and this way I can have her with me at the show.

Besides with everyone else wearing purple (or black) it's so much easier to stand out in the crowd and maybe get a tamborine tossed my way, get invited on stage or something if I am wearing different color than everyone else. I'm not even interested in become the next Mrs. Nelson, musically we're a match otherwise he's not my type and I doubt I am his.

Thank you for the welcome martin and lizard. I really hope I get to see him perform live soon. On the purple issue I have to agree lizard it is the perfect color. In my opinion purple goes with everything. To bad I didn't have any purple in my uniform that would have been sweet

What to wear, always a good question. In summer I wore casual clothes to Werchter and ended up wearing a garbage bag against the rain and sudden cold. Such is life.

Where is the concert? If it's inside, I would definitely dress up. In summer I went shopping for something purple but couldn't find anything I liked. Don't know if you ever have that problem. I do constantly. Know what I want but can't find it. It doesn't help build mood to the concert if you can't find something.

So, your attire doesn't have to be something new. Simple black sexy dress always works I think and low pump heels so you can dance. You can always wear purple underwear for the purple feeling

I wouldn't go for jeans personally. It's a night to dress up!

I'll be going to my 3rd concert. It will addict you healthy your first one I think. The wait will have been worth it. Have a ball!
