Well,I learned my lesson well....
For me 80 euros for a ticket and travel costs is a lot of money at the moment. I stood in the back and was able to see the show on the screen. Next time I'll just buy the dvd, then I actually can see something and keep my money in my pocket.
Furthermore, it doesn't matter what your taste is in music, it's about the availability. Is music and culture just available for the rich?
Being able to actually see the artist on stage when attending the concert, seems just to be for the rich who can afford a (vip) ticket. Seeing an artist perform is similar as wearing designer clothes and purchasing gadgets, only for the rich. I really don't care about any label clothes and other unnecessary stuf. I do miss to see great artists and good plays and performances. However, I don't want to give up my low-paying however really satisfying job. So I guess I have to stop nagging and complaining and just live with the consequence of my own choice.
Didn't you like the concert? I must say, I was far from the stage as well and I couldn't really see much more than a man I wouldn't recognise as Prince if it wasn't for the big ass screen , but I really enjoyed it. I never really liked Purple Rain as a studio version, but with 14000 people singing those "Ooo, oo, ooo" chants I had goose bumps
[Edited 11/9/10 13:30pm] You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind? |

I wished I didn't have to be so cheap as a working adult. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

And about those prices, I really don't see the problem. I know it's not cheap, but I don't believe people can't afford it. I mean, I'm a minor and I paid for my own ticket and was willing to pay for my parents tickets as well (in case they wouldn't want to ) and if I can spend €300,- on that, I don't know why a working adult that is willing to save some money can't.
I think you might want to grow up before making such shortsighted comments ... kthxbai I need an avatar ... please DM me your suggestion ! |

I'm sorry, but that's the way I feel. It might be shortsighted, but I can live with that.

awesome. On second thought, you are right. I tend to forget that working doesn't always mean you're not poor, so I edited what I said. I'm sorry... You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind? |

I hope for your sake that you won't get in a situation that will remember you of this discussion and makes you take a more humble take on this one than currently. [Edited 11/9/10 13:40pm] 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%. |

Now ... since we got that straightened out, let me weigh in on this one. I personally thought €129 for a ticket was too much, so I settled for the €99 ticket. Additionally I downloaded the seating plan of the venue and I kept trying to hit one of the better blocks. With all the information available you can estimate pretty accurately where your seat will be and you can assess what "value" you get from the concert before you purchase the ticket.
Sure, these tickets are pricey but there's not a lot we can do about that. The only choice we have is whether we want to pay a certain price and whether the experience we buy is worth that price.
Up in the balcony, I had plenty of room to dance ... which rocked

I worked 14 hours this weekend, and spent the money I earned during 13 of those hours on the surprise party on Saturday.
Am I rich? Hell no. But I make choices. And for the next weeks, I'll handle the consequences of chosing Prince. Do I regret it? Not even close. |

All I have to say on this is...anyone saying Prince isn't giving it all he's got, obviously is blind or hasn't been to a show lately. He is up there on that stage, giving it his all. He isn't the same as he was 20yrs ago, doesn't mean he is half assing it. The shows I"ve been too and see lately have all been spectacular and I can see Prince is still giving it all to his fans...which is what makes his shows so amazing and so worth the money!! The ticket prices seem pretty fair to me though btw... Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol |
