Prince concert in Belgium "on hold"

Just read on www.sportpaleis.be that Prince's concert in Antwerp - which was scheduled for October 26th - has been put "on hold" due to "unexpected changes in the planning of the tour".

Why, oh, why ?sad

It's the "on hold" that worries me. "Postponed" would have been a more positive term, at least that would imply he has the intention of doing a concert - it will only be at a later date. "On hold" sounds too much like : "hey, maybe I'll be there, maybe I won't".

`On hold' is just an euphemism for 'postponed' which is an euphemism for 'cancelled'.

Yes.

The 26th ocotober show is cancelled.

They might schedule another one when P visits Europe for the remaining shows.

Here's the email content they sent me:

"Prince concert temporarily on hold

Unfortunately, the Prince concert that was to take place on 26 October in the Sportpaleis has been put on hold temporarily. Due to an unforeseen change to the tour schedule, a number of previously-confirmed dates have been withdrawn and only 5 concerts in Europe have been confirmed as definite: 18 October in Bergen (Norway), 20 October in Copenhagen (Denmark), 22 October in Herning (Denmark), 2 November in Rome (Italy) and 3 November in Milan (Italy). The date on which Prince will appear in the Antwerp Sportpaleis may or may not be confirmed during the second half of October.

We understand that this is a major inconvenience. We ask all the fans to have some more patience. As soon as there is more news, you will receive an email."

Oh well sad

It would be "fair" to compensate the postponed Helsinki concert after Denmark gigs. Especially when Prince has already cancelled 4 sold out concerts in the past. Besides he hasn't ever given performance in Finland. That's why this latest "postponement" was just a huge dissapoinment here. I can only hope, it won't turn out to be an another cancellation.

It would be more fair to finally play in Geneva.

He has never played in Geneva?

I'm sorry, but it's hard to beat 5 cancelled shows in Finland lol

Anyway, his tour schedules seem to suck in the big time.

Maybe he cancelled in Finland.

In Geneva it was the promotor that fscked up.

(if we forgive him to choose that promotor)

Well I'm actually kind of glad coz it was one date that was impossible for me.

I hope he changes the date. Antwerp is fine but just another day. Pretty please Le Petit Prince.

They are all euphemisms.

Factually it doesn't matter. They are all cancelled. The original dates won't have a performance by mr P.

Maybe they will try to schedule another date.

Until that happens: no show.

Why? This doesn't shed any light on the unprofessionalism that brought us here.
Also: by then we know more about the setlists so the 'hope' could be changed into something else. (euphoria, despair, etc)

after 2002 I have lost fate in his setlists ... Some surprises over the years, but most of his shows lack an interesting setlist. It all depends on his mood, how songs are played, and the bandmembers ..

A whole new website: 20eleven.com with 13 new experiences to choose from.

20eleven will guide us along all non-European venues he will visit in 2011.
