Prince Postpones Helsinki Concert

http://www.yle.fi/uutiset...30651.html

Music megastar Prince has postponed his Helsinki concert date to an unspecified time in the future. Concert organisers had originally announced Prince would perform in Helsinki on October 15 as part of his northern European tour.

Tickets for the concert were to go on sale on October 1. Organisers say problems with the concert stage are behind the schedule change.

The rock musician has been scheduled to take the stage in Finland twice before. However, both concerts were cancelled–one the day before the event.

Prince came to fame in the eighties with such hits as "When Doves Cry," "Purple Rain" and "Kiss." He has sold over 80 million albums worldwide.

Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

I'm sorry for the many other long-suffering fans in the rest of the world.

From a totally selfish point of view, please Prince fans come to Rome. pray

I have my tickets, but am worried whether Prince can sell enough of the 8000 odd seats for the venue, Cancellation would crush me. hammer

On the bright side, there are plenty of free days between the concerts that have tickets sales ongoing and the GP event, it would be highly likely that further concerts will be announced.

That means it isn't cancelled. Cancelled means it won't be rescheduled. This indicates they intent to reschedule.

You've been a Prince fan too long. Most artists actually do reschedule.

Hello 2 all...... I saw on the U.S. news 2day that the security level in Europe/UK has a high travel alert @ the moment so that might be a big factor for the reschedules. If it were me (band members), I would give it some thought.

Hope every1 had a wonderful day

'Travel alert'?

As in 'safety camera' versus 'speed camera'?
You mean 'Terror'.
And you believe that stuff?
Really?

Do you relaly think terrorists are stupid?
Do you really know what % of attacks in europe were islam/muslim-related?
If the terrorists really wanted to cause terror, they would not blow up planes. They would go for easy targets. Targets without 'security', targets that they can (optional!) blow up without blowing up themselves, etc.
They do not.

So terrorists do not exist or they are stupid.

But because Osama, who is supposedly dead, still sends out tapes with fresh recordings we must assume they are stupid.

Later,

I travel a lot in Europe. The only crime or terror I've seen was when a pedestrian crossed the street on a red light in Düsseldorf a couple of years ago. At least 3 cars had to use the breaks really hard not to hit him. Scary thing, this place called Europe...

Later,

Please don't fret about Prince getting blown up in Europe. US State department warnings are for lack of a better word, fearmongering. ie. every other country in the world is full o' dem darn evil-doers. On the other hand US Homeland Security warnings the US is full o' dem darn evil-doers. You just cant get away from dem darn evil-doers, so just get on with your life.

I think the last major incident in Finland was fighting the Soviet Union during WWII.

If you want to amuse yourself go to the US State Department travel warning website and put in what you consider a relatively safe country like Australia and you will forever be traumatised by the tales of wrongdoing that may occur to you whilst visiting that country.

In case you need serious travel advice refer to the UK Foreign Office travel warnings website.

And let's hope for our friends in Helsinki that the show get's rescheduled.

Of course you correctly imply the fear-mongering establishment.

If someone wants to be safe, there isn't any better place to be than Finland smile

Because this is already the fifth cancelled Prince concert in Finland, it feels like Prince has some issues with Finns in general. confused Prince is the only living major star who hasn't performed in the country...yet.

I wonder if the postponing has anything to do with Lady Gaga's performance on the same place on two previous nights (Oct 13th and 14th)?
