Worth bringing again to people'a attention...particularly to the poor sods who organized transport, accomodation etc to see our favourite poisened dwarf.

Watch out Nice! Apparantly ticket sales are pretty bad.

What a complete failure...

I feel ashamed for those guys.

Just wondering how they could convince P. to trust them.

I highly doubt he will trust them for a 3rd try...

Get a grip gurl! Who would trust Prince these days?! I reckon the promoter got out while the going was good.

I have to set this right. On this one, Prince is definitely not the one to blame.

Sounds like you don't know the story, so let me explain it to you:
The promoter who was supposed to organise the show just disapppeared, leaving everybody in the blue. Since the beginning, there were rumours about him not being known in the business, as well as comments about his "reliability".

The stadium staff and the tickets desk had no idea about what was happening till yesterday. They got informed through the media that the show was cancelled. I don't even know if they received a confirmation by the promoter himself!! I guess by now, they probably have, since the ticket sales stopped yesterday.

Shelbey herself had no clue that the show had been cancelled!! On Wednesday night, she was still chatting with a friend of mine, confirming that they would play in Geneva, and she told him not to listen to the rumours.

I am quite sure that Prince himself didn't know about it till yesterday.

Before making a comment , just think about whether it's usefull to the topic.

I can't see the point of the comment you made.

So you deny any relation between the fees that mr Prince gets versus the ticket prices that we pay?

Obviously the fee Prince gets vs. the fees of the concert tickets are related, but certainly not the totally unprofessional way this concert was handled! That "promoter" was in way over his head, paying Prince too much, charging too much for concert tickets... probably he thought Prince would be an easy sell out... when he realized it wasn't to be things got bad!

I would like to blame Prince, but unlike Dublin, I can't see how I can blame him this time! Especially since he, at least according to Shelby, was/is willing to play!

The unprofessional ways do show the criminal intent.

The main problem is with the promotors, Prince is a lesser factor here.

Wow! Resaplus has completely removed Prince from their site... even if you use the search function nothing turns up... they did make a mistake though, when you switch to the german language page the banner on the side is still there! biggrin

Prince has always been clear about his paycheck.

It is not his job to evaluate if the tickets would sale.

Udo, I don't get your point, sorry.

The big news is : THE CONCERT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

There will be no other date.

Resaplus give this information on the phone. They will post a written announcement soon.

The results could vary. 31.21 pounds versus ~100 euros or more?

It is not his job to evaluate if the tickets would sale.

I did not say that. I said before, in a phrase with the words 'epic fail' in them, that the promotors failed at their core business: gauging the selling power of an artist versus the buying power of the fans.

Udo, I don't get your point, sorry.

I do think the artist's fee is a nice factor in the ticket prices.

Ah, finally some news, someone that communicates. Thanks!

What about a class action lawsuit against the promotor?

here is an article just appeared on the website of "Tribune de Geneve"...there is also the name of the promoter and his company:

As regards the "class action" I'll support it for sure !!!

And a "class action" suit for what exactly? For a concert, selling poorly, not taking place?? For poor communication?? Edit: And for releasing a statement full of shit to the press? It happens all the time that concerts, which do not perform saleswise, get cancelled!

It's unfortunate, but that's life!

For a promotor mistreating fans, for failing epically on all counts.

They did not correctly gauge the selling power of an artist versus the buying power of the fans.

They did not arrange the venue.

They did not communicate at the right times to the fans. (they are silent now)

They did a very bad job.

I'd suggest to start writing emails to www.resaplus.ch to ask them to write an official announcement on their website regarding terms of reimbursement of the tickets.

Well, of course that is not a problem at all since all ticket buyers live around the corner and will go get their money back in three weeks or so, arriving by bicycle.

Right?

Your undying adulation of Prince is impressive, if somewhat naive. I do not see the CEO of BP hiding behind a sub-contractor to take the blame for a screw-up so why should Prince. Poor communication has been his history. Is it unexpected for anyone close to him to keep close to fan sites (even if just to get them taken off-line) and highlight that there is an issue here. Yet again Prince fans are out of pocket and left disappointed. Geneva would have been my 40th show, 41st if Dublin had taken place, 42nd if Blenheim Palace. All shows cancelled for no good reason.

We see Pink play in Prague on Tuesday night after being taken to hospital from the Nurnburg show a few nights before - and she still managed to Twitter an apology to the German fans from the hospital. If the Internet is dead, then why are we all using this forum so widely to inform each other, find out about aftershows, etc.

I can accept all this "will he, won't he", "where and when" speculation for aftershows as these lack certainty and this is a price that we are prepared to pay to have the privilige of attending one of these special events. However, by extending this uncertainty to main events, Prince is in danger of becoming the funky Axl Rose - who has zero respect for his fans.

So Prince, come on now. Disband that waste of time LotusFlo3er, get the npgmusicclub back on line and start communicating with the people have put you where you are. If you need some inspiration, go to U2.com and so how an artist should communicate with their fans.

And before all you blinded people start questioning my credentials as a real Prince fan, 39 gigs in 5 countries, 500+ CDs and almost 30 years of listening to his awesome music.

He could have doen so much better had he let professionals advise him in issues that are not his pure musical creation.

Again! I fail to see, where Prince is to blame for this one! The promoter didn't come up with the financial guarantees for the stadium! The promoter didn't communicate early enough about whats the state of the show! And then he came up with some flaky excuses! How is that Prince's fault? All the other concerts on this tour so far went off without a hitch, apart from overestimating his selling power, which resulted in some strange ticket dealings!

And I thought that was a forum for constructive debate and sharing information.

Why is Prince to blame? He is at the top of the food chain and ultimately only he decides whether he plays or not. And who has responsibility for recruiting the promoter or the staff who recruit the promoter? As Harry Truman was famous for saying, "The buck stops here"!

The fact that the other shows went without such problems is irrelevant. The general lack of communication by Prince and his team left fans wondering right up until the last minute. And hey, the show was already rescheduled once. This should have sent some alarm bells ringing such that Prince and his team should have been paying closer attention to ensure no further problems were encountered. This did not happen.

The result. A disgruntled fan base who are out of pocket, Prince is again viewed negatively in the press (the entire escapade is seen as a joke) and there is now uncertaintly among the fans planning to attend the show in Nice as to whether the show will go ahead there.

The simple solution. Communicate with your fans. If they spent half the effort on communicating what was happening as they do regarding not using mobile phones and cameras at the shows, we would all be much wiser.

So Prince, do the right thing get connected and let your fans know that Nice is going ahead!!!! And perhaps let us know if there will actually be a show in Geneva - and when - as this has not been clearly and consistently communicated.
