Prince to Roskilde Festival
One of the strongest acts in 40 years of festival history has just been confirmed.

Last Thursday’s approx. 60 announced artists are still fresh. Five days later, Roskilde Festival already has an addition – even one with true star status – ready for its audience. A surprise of the kind that separates Roskilde Festival from most other music events in Europe.

PRINCE (US) comes on one of his rare European visits at Roskilde Festival.

"I’ve had to pinch myself many times since last night when everything fell into place. Getting Prince to Roskilde Festival has been on our wish list for years. He’s not a frequent guest at festivals, so it's a great honour for us. It's wonderful finally to be able to tell this great news to our audience," says music director Rikke Øxner.

The only festival concert
The rock demigod’s first concert at Roskilde Festival will be one out of only three this summer. The other two take place in Werchter in Belgium and Arras in France, and Roskilde Festival is the only real festival that Prince visits. The American legend has not played in Denmark since 2002.

Today, Roskilde Festival adds a gilt-edged name to its festival poster, whom probably only few dared dream of. But Roskilde Festival's ambition is to make nearly abandoned dreams come true. And now all festival-goers can look forward to a magical evening in the company of a rock-historic eminence in gold and purple.

Tickets to Roskilde Festival 2010 are available through the festival's online ticket sale.

See you at Roskilde Festival 1 - 4 July 2010. Warm-up from 27 June at 8:00.

Werchter Boutique 2010 Tickets
About Werchter Boutique 2010

Find out about Werchter Boutique 2010 concert details, venue information and history on Live Nation

He sings like an angel. He dances like a devil and he can turn a green field into a trendy dance club. The best live performer of modern time is coming to Werchter - again. Prince is only doing three concerts this summer. On the 4th of July, he is playing at Roskilde (DK), on the 9th in Arras (FR). On the 10th of July he is closing off his short stay in Europe with a concert at Werchter's Festival Park!

The monarchy is in trouble. But not Prince Roger Nelson (°1958). His kingdom is huge and thanks to the right brilliant moves he manages to keep it that way. Prince is a rare treat. It has been almost ten years now since he last performed in Belgium. And the few shows he does do, are very striking. He has mainly been doing surprise gigs lately. At the grand Grand Palais in Paris but also at his very home or at his favourite supermarket in Minneapolis. Of course there was that huge exception in 2007: the impressive series of performances at the O2 Arena in London: evening upon evening playing in front of 20,000 people, and this for three weeks in a row. The grand total: 440,000 or in other words, the entire population of Antwerp. But even that major operation was an example of scarcity. Things had started off as a seven nighter that sold out in barely 20 minutes. The mega project showcased the new Prince: the highly gifted, relaxed band leader who likes to fool around with his band and the audience. During the 80s, His Royal Badness spent a big chunk of his time in recording studios making visionary dance music. Prince merged funk, jazz, pop and soul into rocking grooves. During the 90s, the biggest musical genius of his generation spent most of the time being pissed off with his record label. Nowadays, Prince wants to entertain (himself), giving carte blanche to the brilliant entertainer within. He talks like a pimp. He sings like an angel. He dances like a devil. After three decades he can really count on everything it takes to set a big crowd on fire. Prince outdoes each member of his solid backing band (says Pharell Williams) and he needs more than five hands to count his most famous songs.

Do a test of your own. Everyone who has ever seen Prince live will rank that show among the best 3 shows they have ever seen. As a consequence, the crowd will be amazing.

Just a couple of things one should know about Prince:

The big hits: Controversy/1999/Little Red Corvette/Nothing Compares 2 U/When Doves Cry/Purple Rain/I Would Die 4 You/Let’s Go Crazy/Raspberry Beret/Kiss/Mountains/Girls & Boys/Sign O’ The Times/U Got The Look/If I Was Your Girlfriend/Alphabet St./I Wish U Heaven/Get Off/Cream/Sexy M.F./The Most Beautiful Girl In The World
Last time he played in Belgium: 18th October 2002 at Antwerp's Sportpaleis. (One Nite Alone ... With Prince Tour)
Last show in Werchter: 4th August 1990 (Nude Tour)

WTF? Why didn't he just do Glastonbury as well? They've been trying to book him for yars and i know from an excellent source that the owners of Glastonbury Festivals Michael and Emily Eavis tried to get him for the 40th anniversary this year. It is just days before Denmark.

Bet he wanted too much money! Little greedy bumface.

Oh well Stevie Wonder it is.

Thanks for this LittleSister!
Just one question though - is this only for Proximus customers? (would make sense!). It's just that there's a link for 'other countries' too but I presume you have to sign up with your Proximus number?

So this is why the Lotusflow3r website was shut down. Now there is not a chance in getting reduces prices on the tickets, or even to be certain of a Golden Circle spot. neutral

I predict there is going to be a lot of trouble to get tickets for the Belgian show, knowing Teleticket's reputation. The black market will see it's chance again. Oh well, let's just hope for the best.

he can get more money from other gigs. glasto doesn't normally pay that well as they have so many acts. most bands do it for the esteem or promotion, just like the usual folk who used to do all the charidee gigs in the 80s and 90s and see record sales shoot through the roof

plus i can't see prince in hi heeled wellies dodging bottles of piss being thrown at the stage, can you?

I don't know what Glastonbury Festival you've been to and in what dimension?

I go go to Glastonbury because that is exactly THE type of place where that kind of thing never happens.

All other UK festivals maybe... But Glasto is the complete opposite. In fact my brother has been to Roskilde and that happened there.

If you fly to Brussels National (BRU) you can hop directly on the train to Leuven (plus minus 5€, 15 minutes), and mostly with big events like this, a free bus service is provided from Leuven to Werchter, which is a very small village (in here we would call it 'een boerengat' lol )

You can also fly with Ryanair to Brussels South (Charleroi) but the connection is worse then: bus to brussels, train to leuven, bus to werchter. or taxi to werchter, if you have the money (but you wouldn't be flying with ryanair then wink)
