To anyone who said boring....

Yep, a boring setlist.

But: Heavily guitar loaden. No brass at all. Prince playing guitar nearly all the time. Too bad the trem of his purple strat got it outta tune during Crimson & Clover. Had to change for the Hohner in the middle of the song.

And, Sheila E. playing this set with Prince - priceless. Really. Though she wasn't on stage the whole time she killed it when she was. The time she was on stage, it was more of a Prince feat. special guest type of thing. Kind of a co-leadliner. Right in front with Prince. Brilliant.

Don't know if they all pretended to have that much of a fun (since video was shot as Prince told)... but it looked pretty well they had a damn good time.

I was absolutely suprised myself I liked that concert much more over the main set I saw in London's O2.

Edit: Didn't see any merch at all either. Searched for it.

On another note: The black present box with the purple ribbon he teased to open during second half - was that something given to him by a fan? Or was it a box Prince brought?

Anyway, he threw it into the audience. In case it was brought by Prince, I'm curious to know what was in it...

Hey guys. glad you had a great time. We are going to Vienna soon so I´d like to know if he started on time and how long was the show approximately.

The concert was 2.5 hours long. Don´t be fooled by that short setlist, he played much more....like Forever In My Life, When U Were Mine, brief portions of Act of God with the beat of Forever In My Life, and When Will We Be Paid using the Purple Rain instrumentation which then segued into Purple Rain. He was in an extremely good mood, the audience went nuts and Prince was very playful, energetic and funny throughout the whole show. It was great to see him and Sheila play A Love Bizarre together.....reminded me of that Sheila E VHS video from 1986 when she played in San Francisco and Prince and the Revolution showed up on stage. More than 24 years later and they´re still healthy, in great shape and still friends. Made me feel really sentimental and nostalgic at the same time. I loved last nights Purple Rain version....very beautiful and uplifting version. More info later, just got back from Berlin and feel exhausted, it´s almost 10 a.m here. Where do we post concert reviews? In the concerts forum or in "Music and more"? Great show with probably minimal planning and rehearsing....this is as minimalistic as it gets. Went there with very low expectations and had a blast. What a wonderful show! I guess he read some of the reviews on Moquake because this setlist was much better than the one in Roskilde.

No support band at all.

He started ca. 7:45pm. End: approx. 10:20pm.

Not sure how many encores included... let's see: Forever In My Life, When Will We Be Paid (chords from Purple Rain)/Purple Rain, Dance. Hm, makes about three. And I fell like I missed something. Check the setlists.

Btw, somone said Forever was P with rhythm section. Wrong. Drum comp/sequencer plus P. And he did a very extended version with superb vocals. Just over that one beat.

Agree 150%.

Ok, this is dramatical... but I must admit, to see Prince *and* Sheila E playing and fooling around was - sorry, but it almost brought me to tears. (Please bear in my mind: I'm male & straight... so make of that what you will).

Two and half hours. Cool. It was like that also when I saw him. It was hard to beleive he´d play only hour and half.

You can add "7" to the playlist, we sung our longs out at the chores on Prince's request.

The setlist was surprising te me, loved it double-time!

Just got home (Netherlands) from Berlin.

Prince was in a great mood. And a "funny"one too lol .

It has been a while since I have seen him dancing like this, loved it! There is only one man who can do this hey. Everybody was in a great mood, we sung our longs out and jumped and danced our asses off. I simply loved this show and cannot wait for Arras!

Ooh and Prince playing congo's was awsome! At the beginning of the show by hands for a short time; ran away after he put on his "I'm caught by Sheila act" razz

Later on he and Sheila played a session together with drumsticks. Really cool.

Nice to see Sheila and Prince having so much fun on stage!

And we could film and take picture's biggrin

Ok, wide awake (jawn) after a 7 hour drive, so off to bed or...

yes, same for me. After 7 hours back home, did a powernap and now back in the office, rise and shining.
It actually was not allowed to film/make photo (as usual) but security messed up big time. Only after one hour one guy of the Prince camp arranged that lcal security would prevent making photos/filming but iw as done very gentle and not as direct as Princes security did in the Indigo. Next to that IMO it was very easy to enter the innenraum without having a valid ticket......
That aside it was a great, long show.
Did anyone notice how close Prince and Sheila were and that was in tears at the end of PR?

Yep. My first thought was Sheila's just exhausted or she might pretend for the cameras - but he actually WAS close to tears... and finally wiped her eye. Awesome.

Early in the show it was thrown at Prince by a fan, it just missed him and ended up on stage, between his legs. He made some remarks about it but ignored it until the end of the show. He then pretended to open it but threw it in the audience instead

Just finished my powernap as well biggrin

I was surprised about the camera part too, left my pocketcamera in the car because of previous experience in London. But I saw people with larger camera's and being surprised I concluded it was allowed. I agree it was messed up security, they only looked in my bag a bit but I could have brought anything inside. People around me almost filmed the complete concert. Glad the security didn't "catch" me wink

And seeing Prince and Sheila jamming and playing around was just awsome! I even thought: this might all be rehearsed and an act but to me it looked like a perfect match! The fun they had together moved me, seeing them dancing and jumping around stage, chasing eachother like little kids, the laughter and looks between them, it was so much fun to see.

O wow, this sounds amazing, I pray Sheila will be there in Werchter also...the Love Bizarre act can last forever and ever imo, let's cut down that oak tree people! that '86 gig was an absolute highlight and I'm so jealous of anyone who has been there to witness that night. Sheila & Prince, such an everlasting team!

So glad I am not the only one. I had tears in the beginning, Sheila came on stage and I was surprised that tears came down my cheeks (and I am female & straight wink ). Prince came on and I bursted into tears. couldn't stop it...never had this experience before after visiting his concerts for over 22 years now! I guess I missed the guy lol

Has been a while since I've seen him dancing like this.

Agree. These numbers are definitely not my first choice but the whole atmosphere and the fun and joy at the stage made up for it. And not forget some new arrangments which made the older, well known songs look fresh.

Look forward to Werchter although I expect a different type of show given the venue and the size of the audience.

That reminded me of when during one London Aftershow someone handed him an envelope and he pretended to put it in an invisible pocket in his shirt so it slipped and fell on the floor, where later on he pushed it away with his foot when it was in his way playing the guitar.

I'm guessing the only gift from a fan, that he will accept are flow3rs.

What I noticed about this concert was the large amount of drum sticks from Sheila E. that she threw into the audience. And also it looked like Prince gave one of his guitars to the audience! Or was this just my imagination? Whatever happened there I couldn't believe it - what a dream coming true!!!

I was right in front of the stage and security tried to stop people taking pictures without much success of course.

First: It was so great! smile Me and my friends we had such a great and groovy time. After 2002 it was a pleasure to see him again. And it was so different, too. Well, a bit at least. Nice Set. Dont like to complain. Sure, I have also a few favs he didnt played, but ... he gave us Peach, Forever in my life, Guitar,...

Critics? The sound - missed some stronger bass and drums sometimes! And the band, maybe?! No sax, horns and such. That was different. So Prince was more in focus I thought. Liked that, too!

However, we danced from the start, smiled all over the place and claped our hands to death. Had a wonderful and awesome party in Berlin, with so many special moments. To many to mention yet.

But, did I heard it right, that in one song it said something nasty, like "just suck it one more time" ...?! Not sure yet ... but I thought I heard something.

I would love to read a full setlist, too.

Greetings to all of you here!
