Where is the hype?

I got best front standing tickets for Berlin and I'm really excited about it.

I'm willing and able to help the rainbow children, who are not from here find their way around the city.

Maybe we can even go for a meal beforehand and have some starfish and coffee?

I'm up for meeting some purple freaks.

Contact me! smile

@Prince, if you read this: PLEASE PLAY Dorothy Parker, Starfish and Coffee and Darling Nikki smile Thanks

Okay so I changed the subject from "So who is going to Berlin?" asking now:

How come 21 Nites in London sold out like crazy and there was so much energy and hype on this site about it.

And now this European Tour is neither sold out nor does anybody seem to get too exited about it.

Is this because of Croke Park?

Where is the spirit?

1. o2 tickets were £31.21

2. The o2 shows spoiled everyone, great value...great shows (in my opinion) and then the chance of a storming aftershow in the same venue for the same price.
3. I think Prince has generally pissed off a lot of his fans, Croke Park was just nasty (and the boy has now been made to pay for his ways) and his damned Lotusflow3r website must have left a bitter taste in many a mouth. ..thank God I didn't join smile

Not sure about anyone else but I don't care about going to a Prince show and seeing him the size of a pin anymore, queuing for hours, standing on tiptoes with my back and feet ready to disintegrate into a million pieces just to get a glimpse of him, getting pushed and shoved from people who want a better view and feel they have the right to stand in front of you. No thanks!

The law changing off ticket sales... AEG and tickmaster got a good telling off about creating a false and unlawfull demand. The O2 sold tickets unfairly... If you want to know how i can send you some links ..... It was MJ seat going for £2k on Viagoo theat ended them up in hot water....

21 nights were sold out...Or do you mean they gave tickets away? wink

I had to pay !

And the hype will come when you see him live! People are already exited and some apparently need the hype with a press conference and interviews like in London....which is great, but

I think the hype will come before the concerts^^

And you don`t think seriously that people don`t buy a Prince ticket because of Croke Park?

Most people don`t know about it....Only some diehard fans or the irish people perhaps....

The shows are selling good and i know we get a good show.....^^

Prince has pushed his luck for years, but he generally had the good music to back it up. But his hardcore fans are leaving at a greater pace now than ever before.

Whats gone wrong? Here's ten reasons....

1. The music. Lotusflower bombed and the latest tracks are B side at best.

2. Croke Park - Its making thousands pass.

3. The Website - He royally shafted huge amounts of fans for $77. Not cool.

4. Venues - Stadiums are unpopular at the best of times

5. Locations - Arras? He needs to be in Paris. He needs better promoters.

6. Motive - This feels like a money grap to pay off his debts

7. Price - He is charging A list prices, for B list set up and support acts

8. Promotion - He need to get over here and promote it!

9. Attractiveness - Taking babies to court and walking out on concert deals. Doesn't help.

10. Late notice - Stadium shows need time to sell. He should have started 6 month out.

11. Information - I mean the lack of.... I would have never bought Tickets for Arras and Belgium if there would have been made some sort of "tour schedule" available in advance

1.lotusflower was a great album MNPLsound was ok

2.i agree on this

3.77$ was not that high .yes we could have much more for that price

but for me -i got 3 albums .some video's that got lost in my collection

4.stadiums are not unpopular but its summer so people planned there vacations

5.paris would be better but he got the deal with the werchter guys for arras .yes he needs better promotors

6.no its not .the man from werchter asked prince to come play and make a deal for 2 other gigs

thats when things started and more concerts were planned

7 .its a normal price nothing strange about that (i go to concerts all the time) jamie lidell ,larry graham are no B list support acts

8.yep i agree he needs to promote this tour .but i think he will

9.agree again not very nice

10. agree again but this was not planned it all started with the werchter gig

and yes can be a bigg ass sometimes .that's prince always have been.

ps sorry for the bad spellings

Agree with a lot of those. I went to 7 gigs at the O2, couple of aftershows. I was generally not impressed with the main shows, though the setlists were interchangeable, i found myself bored in a 'seen it all before' way. Much preferred the 'One Nite Alone' tour in 2002.

I can't get excited for another P visit. Maybe, I'm just not that interested anymore. shrug

sadly im kinda there too

crazy how-after having such a great rep live-wise, P could blow it with one cancellation. But Croke did that-for me. No way am i travelling when he dosen't promote-hell even confirm that its even really gonna happen anynmore.......kinda-if you can't be arsed buddy-why shoukld i?

and-indigo2 totally spoiled me. I know i'll never get nights like that again-the PERFECT set up

a festival-day light show and hours of travelling-at THOSE prices..no thanks

it does not help-that he keeps 'giving' us these crappy tunes-i liked Lotus (the music-not letusFUover.con) but if the new thing is-release good music-but don't tour or play it live-well thats not for me-can't really see the point in all honesty

im actually amazed at how he seems to do this on puropse.-After the triumphant 2007..then Croke-then THAT web site-now were here

struggling to even sell 3000 gold circle tickets

sorry-but he does kinda deserve it

To be fair he been tyring to get rid of most of them for a long time now, i don't blame him, he's kind of out grown all that 80's stuff / early 90's stuff ... he's left that lifestyle behind so fan's that want that have the CD's.... don't expect that stuff from Prince now ...but alot of the newer fan's not so diehard fans are more open to his 70, 80, 90, 00, 10 work and they are cool with how he is now, they just buy CD's and go to Concerts , buy DVD's and happy with it, they can take or leave it with regards to websites, they are just not that fussed lol

lol

i said 'seems' to.

i for 1 dont seriously think Prince gets up and thinks-um-how many fans can i drive away today

he's in the business if SELLING to as many as possible

so to insinuate he wants rid of folk like me is riduculous

and for the record-MOST fans were and are bothered by the failed web site

it was a kick in the teeth to those that actually put their money where their mouth is and backed the project

DID YOUI JOIN................im guessing-no

in which case im not suprised you find expousing such rubbish so easy

and who the hell mentioned wanting the past back

theres no hype cuz not much to get hyped over

another hits show-high prices-and possibly a cancellation AGAIN

yayyyyyyy lets have a party:-o eek eek

Looks like thats "new" fans didn't bother to buy tickets to the show either.

and if Prince left it all behind, why try promoting every show as "the last time he'll play the hits!"?

Hasn't he been touting the "last time" thing since the o2 shows? I'd actually find him more interesting if he didn't but this would obviously drive away the casual fans who want to hear Purple Rain etc.

I think some of you need to get out more often. The videos are now up on YOUTUBE and all artist are being paid. Do you think P was the only one having his stuff pulled off.

Only the diehards care about one show in Ireland being cancelled. I could see if P had a rep for never showing up for concerts but he does not. I have never seen a cancelled concert be so blown out of porpotion. I think these few shows will go over well and all of you naysayers will be back singing his praises as usual.

in fairness though

most other artists that cancel bother to come up with a viable excuse why they don't turn up-Prince obviously in this case feels he does not need to bother to even come up with a lie-it seems he just couldn't be arsed with it-which is a real slap in the face to those that lost out on air fares etc

so with that kind of ignorant handling-your suprised it went down so badly ?

oh sorry-i forgot-Prince does not need to explain. Does not need to be respectful-just to preach it to all that'll listen-whilst sticking it to em' in any way he sees fit-like closing a web site in his mind-pretty much the day he opened it

funnily enough-he still took the cash though

just like Croke Park

lol-only die hards care.......................that'll keep me chuckling all day-such a Laurarichardsonism

Prince pulling a video because a baby is dancing to one of his tunes..oh come on..how petty is that.

I think you need to get out more often for being so nieve, do you think a casual fan who thought a weekend in Ireland catching a Prince concert was more than happy to lose their air fares \ hotel costs...wake up...I am guessing you were one of the diehard fans who had no intention of going..didn't lose any money and can make fleeting statements like that.

Do you think that P walked away from a concert that he would have made millions on just to fuck with people’s heads? I am sure he had a reason even the promoter said it may have been health related. We do not know what the reason was but I find it hard to believe that some of you are so naïve that you think he cancelled the concert out of some sort of spitefulness. Concerts get cancelled all the time it is not a big deal. Maxwell just cancelled the rest of his tour and I understand U2 just cancelled a bunch of shows. Trust me I get out plenty and some of you need to do so to get out of the bitch and moan that you are stuck in.

As far as the dancing baby Universal was also involved in the cease and desist letter for removing that video. Do you think they struck a deal to handle P’s publishing for grins and giggles their job is to collect fees for the use of the music. Of course they are going to ask that any unpaid use by removed. I honestly think some of you find it easier to be mad at the artist for demanding payment instead of Goggle who should have been coughing up money all along.
