Jestyr is lying. It was not awful...It was horribly terrible.

This is probably my 30th Prince show and this was clearly and unquestionably the worst.

Consider the Prince website launches completely devoid of any semblance of usability combined with completely inefficient bandwidth - you get shut out of tickets on that underperforming excuse for a website. This required me to buy my $77 tickets for $195 plus fees and taxes and whatever else was piled on via stubhub.com. Two tickets = $439.00.

This now means that I get to stand in the Club Nokia line that snakes around nearly a country mile a la Disney land. When I finally get in to the show he is already on stage and folks mention its "about the 6th song of the night" - huh?

On top of that P is clearly pissed about the crappy sound. I get it. We all get it. We all got it. And paid for it. I really did not drop $439 to hear Prince complain about AEG Live or for the very best of Renato Neto. But hey its Prince and its his right.

Its a recession - people are paying a premium for a show. And it starts while people are still in line??

Cmon. Total and utter disappointment. An expensive one at that.

but u saw the real prince in real life thats priceless

Agreed. But Prince has never been professional. His career is littered with cockups that could easily have been avoided.

I doubt he's gonna change now.

I think that the title of this post is IT WAS AWFUL...

U obviously is one of those that Thinks that Prince can do NO wrong and that he is MR.Perfect....How pathetic!!!!!
I didn't generalized....I said it the way I FELT IT, and IT WAS WHAT IT WAS.
Deal with IT!!!!!

I wouldn't bother arguing. He'll finish his wank over his Prince posters and then be back on here blindly defending his hero.

I was at this show too and I thought it was awful. It also bothers me that on this forum I am supposed to:

A) Have KNOWN that this show would be the way it was because it was somehow obvious (??)

B) Been thankful that I was just in the "presence" of Prince

C) Somehow be to blame because obviously if I didn't like it or know every song I was responsible because I picked the wrong show to go to.

I was excited to see the show and excited that I got tickets to such a small venue. I also was prepared not to know every song and to expect it to be "new" material. I was not prepared to see a show with very little enthusiasm on Prince's part, a bitch session about the sound, execs, whatever, and basically a Renato Neto 60 min performance, I also felt slapped in the face when Prince noted he was going to "continue to play for 3 million $". Well, part of that 3 mil was $198 of my money. I know Prince is an "artist" and he's special, exceptional and all that. However, if certain shows are just supposed to be for die-hard fans, then why are they not advertised as such? And the air of the room and the vibe of the people, well it was overwhelmingly negative. Those few comments from people who were so excited and thought it was the best performance ever and practically peed over that dark room song being played? Well, I think they must have definitely been the few and far between at this show.

I left thinking about how I spent money that I didn't really have to waste on such a letdown of a show.It wasn't even much of a "show', Prince kept leaving the stage.
Sadly I won't take a chance that this will happen again and I won't buy tickets again to a Prince show. Except to resell them for twice their face value which is what I should have done with these. SO all of you die-hard tru fans: Look forward to the next show because you'll have two more tickets available to pay too much for because I won't be buying them.

It would have been a better performance if they had just put the Target commercial on a loop and played it for 90 minutes.

Also it is true that they were already on stage before everyone was inside. And I didn't get how every song was "Let's turn the lights down" or after Chaka Khan came on; what "See what you're in for?" meant since no one else came out after that and it ended about 10 minutes later. It was a boring show and I felt as if Prince didn't care much about his performance. I kept thinking "NOW it's going to get good." I figured out after the third song it wasn't.Truthfully the only time he looked semi-energetic was during the Beautiful Ones and maybe it was because that was the only time the crowd got excited. I hate that the show I picked was obviously some sort of rehearsal type BS for the Renato guy. There were'nt even any backup singers. I hated it.

And that "Freebird" guy rocked; maybe a Lynyrd Skynard song would have livened it up a bit. Again, I hated it, I wish I had my money and my time back. Standing in line was more fun than the show!

I feel your pain, I have seen some prince gigs which are probably the worst gigs i've ever seen. Brixton - newpowersoul anyone? -awful, awful. People walked out.

Also I completely agree with your bullet points, sometimes you are not allowed to say anything objective or negative about Prince on here. Even in the face of an obvious fuck up. Nature of the beast I suppose. But we are fans, not sheep.

But try not to lose heart, I have also seen the most mind blowing amazing gigs from our purple hero. Thing is, it's not that all his old gigs were good and his new ones bad, its completely random and sporadic. So what I'm saying is try not to give up. Generally he hits more than misses. You might lose out on an amazing musical experience. Let the (financial) wounds heal, and give it another shot.

I was at that gig too. I didn't walk out but it was bloody awful. Best bit was Larry playing his bass out in the crowd, stood on a chair right in front of me smile

Prince seemed to be in a foul mood though sad
