Purple Rain in London!??!! Just a quick question, did Prince play Purple Rain in any of the London shows. I saw him in Manchester (8th Oct) with my girlfriend and when he finished she said "But he didn't play Purple Rain, thats the only song I know". Obviously, I tried to explain that he's been playing the song for nearly 20 years, so its not surprising that sometimes he doesn't play it. Although, I would of love to of heard it one more time, especially in a small theatre as it was. Oh well!! After reading some of the reviews from Europe it appears he's playing the song all the time, why! I thought he liked the UK!!?!! Whens he coming back???

Pleaaase no more pruple rain! don't play that song in Paris, I 'm begging you. Don't get me wrong, I love this song, but, you've been playing it fot 20 years now. Could we have Lady Cab Driver instead? or Shy? Or Anotherloverholeinyohead? or It? or I wish U Heaven? or ...

No...Purple Rain was not played at any of the London shows. As you said "I thought he liked the UK"... That's why he didn't play it!!!
I can not be the only person on the org who never wants to hear that track played in the same old way again. If he comes with a different arrangement like he did on things as diverse as Gotta Broken Heart Again and Something In The Water then surely he can do the same for that tired old track... Anyway...no Purple Rain being played means more time for the funk and jazz. Amen -----------------------------------------------

I went to the 3 london gigs and the dublin gig and no purple rain was played. Many casual fans around me were shouting for it. woulda been nice to hear at least once in those 4 concerts. especially since he seems to be playing it everywhere else in europe at this time!!
These were my first ever prince gigs, and i noticed a lotta other young types/first timers, WHO HAVE NEVER HEARD PURPLE RAIN LIVE. Don't get me wrong...i absolutely loved every gig, but purple rain is a better song than the jazz/rap that is muse to the pharoah which lets be honest, would bore first time listeners who account for a large number of ticket holders. He shoulda squeezed it into the 3 HOUR!!! show...i personally can't wait to hear it live sumday...dig if u will the picture, of thousands of hardcore/casual fans screaming the chorus..."Purple rain, puuurrrple rain...ooohhh ooohhh ooohhh..." must be quite an experience!!

Persoanlly, I can understand casual fans, but I know they'll never be satisfied. Even if he does "Purple rain", there's always someone wanting "Kiss", "Sexy Mf" or "U got the look". A friend of mine told me: "he is not playing Kiss, Beautiful girl or My name is Prince? I won't come even for free..boring!" It's up to him. I know the present tour is the best ever! How can you wait for the sad old rain when you can get some fab new jams? Open your heart, open your mind ... cheers
