concert depression

hi,
i went to see the ONA show on Manchester 8th (UK) and although i loved the performance, i fell into a very depressive mood for days afterwards. I dont know why and i still get it when i think about the greatness i witnessed that evening. Has anybody else had such an experience after leaving the show? its so strange, when i was watching the show i was on such a high, i think that may be the problem!! to come fall from the extreme of witnessing something so great to quickly being put back into your own reality saddening to me. did you experience anything similar?

peace.
You do as I say

I couldn't relate more to all those feelings. Fortunately enough I'm still kinda high from a few concerts from this tour, but experienced that sort of depression after seeing Prince a few times before. All I can feel reading your comments is PURE compassion and understanding. However, make an effort and have a look to the bright side of the experience. Think about how lucky you have been to attend the show and have such a time. People are starving in the streets and you just could afford going to a kick ass show from a genius. Your memories won't fade away and you must feel blessed for having such a good time. It was YOUR experience. No one and nothing could ever change that!.

Does it feel any better now ?

I went to Manchester on the 8th but, having been to concerts b4 and knowing what the feeling is like after, I also went to Dublin on the 10th. This was magic. A soundcheck, main show and aftershow made sure I didn't feel down after - in fact, I'm still on a high. Just a tip for next time he tours (dreading my credit card bill!!!).

I had post-celebration blues but it had more to do with missing the awesome people that I met there.

Hmm, I've never experienced that. The shows make me high for days, reading the reports gets me giddy all over again. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate on MY stuff cuz I'm so enthralled w/ his! That worries me... :O

Should I write "Prince" on my cheek? sad

It was the same with me after Frankfurt. My brother who was my guest said to me that many people would be so happy if they could be so near to HIM /1m/.Yes he is right. But to be
honest - after reading all these posts about Prince answering questions of the NPGMC members and being a little
bit personal with them at the soundchecks - I expected a bit
more contact with him - possibility to feel as his real fams.I know that I would be OK if it would happen, although I must admit that there was no real reason to be sad after the greatest show I´ve ever seen.Perhaps it was really only too quick wake into reality.
I´ll be in Zurich on 30th and hope I´ll be OK after that.
Everything what Prince is doing is his decision and we must
respect it - happy or sad - in spite of all this he´s given
and is still giving us so much!!!
Try to be positive,to spread love and see you in Zurich!
EXPECTATION IS MOTHER OF DISAPPOINTMENT!

Try having 7 nights of that level of performance at the 2002 Celebration - talk about post-event depression! I definitely relate to what you're going through. Best medicine - crank his tunes! smile

I felt kind of depressed too. Especially when i got home from the show (Rotterdam).

It went all so fast, although he played 4 almost 3 hours.
It was like a dream, but then i keep nov. 2 in my mind, i can't wait so see and hear him again! love

Maybe that depressed feeling has something to do with the fact that we had to wait 4 four years to see this wonderful man perform again. I really missed him... cry

I felt kind of depressed too.I think it`s the fact that we

have wait for 4 years, but the main thing is:

"Life can be so nice"

U come in the venue and will live for 2 or 3 hours in

a very differnt world,in world full of peace and brilliant

music. U see a genius of our days. Thats not so easy to

take.

hey great topic! its just the thing i am going through! i know this post concert/meeting/party feeling 2 good, right now i am just back from berlin still in a upside down mind... it was off the hook, much better than frankfurt, after celebration and most of the expieriences i had it was like that, this time even more, cos i met some wonderful peeps (phillipp, rene, christina :love , ralf, udo, axel, and lots of others) and we had a great time... i do MISS u, and especially one - so its like that... in such moments i am soo much into a flash and if even prince pops up like in tränenpalast and watches our npg dancing... its ... not 2 describe... all i can say: it's so great meeting so nice peeps all over the world (was a nyc girl there) and feel the same in one particular way... like prince said: we have 2 be united, spread the love and feel good, leave the war oustide of our world... yeah, but despite of all this, i have 2 go through my world, and that means in 4 hours up 2 work... with a fullflash in my mind and my soul... but, it ain't over yet ... i will witness zurich 2 finish this experience! peace 2 all fonkees i have met, take care and love!

( c - i have 2 see u again... )

Yes, it was Overwhelming at the Celebration for me. Prince's songs just hit me in the Heart and it is quite an Intense Feeling. It definitely was an Orgasmic Experience and when I would just Cry it was Overwhelming Joy and Depression at Knowing he touched me Deep Inside. And that alas I had to go back Home.

My fiancé and i have the same feeling... Still haven't recovered from Frankfurt.. It apparently turns out each new concerts are better than the preceedign ones!!!

Prince and the band are really amazing... But we keep in mind the good vibe we felt so that helps us to see things in a different light. In my mind we are still in Frankfurt and the vibe is still there...

peace to all of you...

Thanks for your post silver shoes!!!

Hmmm.. a doctor would say that you suffer from the medical term EMS or "European Massive Sperm buildup..." The average european Prince music lover must be relieved of such pressure with a week of concerts, eardrum damage and aftershow 1night stands in order to "blow your nut" for another 3 years. Failure to properly relieve the pressure usually results in such side effects such as the above mentioned depression.

I have an explanation for this after show depression:
We are all drug edictet, and the name of the drug is Prince!
It has all the symptoms of drug ubuse:
You want to feel it again (what you felt on a concert)
You are ready to give all your money for him
You can´t think of anything else
Your normal life seems to be totaly unimportant
Only when you see him you feel good

But its the bust drug you can think of..

Am I right?

Oh...I know what you mean. I'm telling you, when i was on my way home from that concert... i think it was pure depression. I don't know why...Maybe it's cause it all happened so fast. I just felt really down. But i have now had some more time to think about all that happened, and...well..I know i have my CD's smile And i have my buddies here to talk to wink

AND i know that i'll go see Prince again whenever i have the chance yay!

I fely exactly the same, i saw him in dublin and was just blown away. The next day and 4 days after the show i was just so down and almost empty feeling, it was so weird 2 experience something like that! I think when u r in the prescence of a gift of God u r lifted 2 a higher appreciation of talent and then when its over u r left with the mundane! but it was so worth it, does every1 get more out of all the albums now that u have seen him live? they mean so much more now than they ever did 2 me!!!

Well eye felt a little bit depressed too in the days after the concert. The main reason is that after such a great concert, eye rather do not want 2 pick up my normal life (work) again.
Hell, eye want 2 live my "prince-life" all the time...

I'ld fear to become that knd of depression. I think to me it would come very strong! Sincerly... that could be a reason why I never went to a Prince concert or Aftershow...
Knowing I have to go my own way again and left him go like that? no no no!
Really!
Awfull do think about the day after... I'm too sensible!smilerolleyes
Only thinking about it I become sick ... Otherwhise, I think it would be the best "therapie" for me: To do enfront my fears. I SHOULD go to a concert!!

If you meant me, I do very seldom play his records and his videos and don't have any posters on the wall.smile
Similar but diffrent I have that with Lenny Kravitz... but not so like with Prince... it's...

I've been never been a groupie so why should I become one after 35??? Please!
There's something special with the vibes of music. And it is good so.

Aggghhh!
