If Prince Went On Tour in 2008...

If Prince went on tour this upcoming year...
What would you like the setlist to consist of?

Personally, i would love to see the NPG jam out on
a setlist of songs from Musicoology, 3121, and Planet Earth.
I crazy about Fury, Get on the Boat, and Mr Goodnight to nane a few and
I'd love to hear a few classics thrown in, like Adore, the
One, and one of my all time faves Shhh!
And please keep the center stage permanent- i feel about e a mile away
from the stage when its on the side

What about you...what would you like to hear him play?

he needs to do something fresh. either take it up a level and play with symphony orchestra accompaniment, or take it down a level and do some unplugged/acoustic shows. even another string of hit-and-run instrumental gigs would be refreshing. but enough already with the prince & shelby 3121 vegas revue, it's getting stale.

In an interview during the Musicology tour he said he couldn't imagine ever going back to a normal stage, because he loves the energy he gets being in the centre - so I think it will be a permanent thing! biggrin biggrin

He needs a new band or cut out a lot of the deadweight like "The Twinz" and I dare say Shelby, even though she is great. He needs to do much more post 1991 material. I don't mind if he does Little Red Corvette but can I please get some Dolphin or some Soul Sanctuary or some of The Word in that setlist? Seriously, he's got to change his game with his concerts. The needs to be a balance of the old with the new again.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The round is the best way to experience Prince. It's great! I love the song choices XNY picked too. I'd love to hear what Prince would do with songs he's done in the 2000's.

Yes! I would love to see an acoustic concert--just Prince and his guitar. cloud9

But if I can't get that then:

Ditch The Twinz, Cora, Josh, & all but one horn player. (Maceo can stay. lol)
    Bring Sheila back on drums.

Umm, we obviously have a very different opinion of what constitutes 'good' in Prince world. Two of your top 5 albums are at the very bottom of my list--out of *all* of his albums. Cora & Josh are adequate, but they have no flava, no personality, no chemistry, no funk. It's like watching a back-up bad. zzz Booooring. I suggest you watch the Lovesexy tour or SoTT movie and tell me if Cora & Josh can sound half, no even a quarter, as funky as Sheila & Levi.

spit I have every show from London that's circulating (and a lot of the Vegas shows) and they all sound the same: bored

Sheila pwns Cora.

Look we're obviously not going to agree because I think Planet Earth and Emanicipation are two of the most boring piles of steaming doody Prince has ever released and you....you think they are top five. So there ya go. Now, I'm off to listen to some shows from the Nude tour. smile

I really hope so...I saw him in Minneapolis 7/7/07 and in the 36th row you could barely see the stage at all. Not to mention the sound in the Target Center was the worst I've ever heard at any Prince show.
I also loved the idea for more piano/acoustic - that really went over well on the ONA/Musicology tours IMO.

I'd love to hear Shhh too

Edit: i put my response in the wrong spot so i put it in bold letters above...oops nuts

If prince went on tour in 2008 and if he keeps to his word about this being it I hope he brings back people from past bands and that would even include Mayte I would love to see her and the twins in a dance off because they have their own style but still the same moves it would be amazing to see them all dance together then get a woman from the general public/audiance that can stand her own ground and show all the years of thinking this is what it took anybody can dance it is the music that carry the show don't get me wrong but sometimes I think he gets so lost in public opionon and what the fans will think he lash on to dead wieght the eye candy you can say when all that time it is him people pay to see and before he leaves the stage in 2008 I want him to know that we as fans just dug his music it was all about him the rest was just filler something to look at and for the twins they are good don't get me wrong but just filler to add to the stage taking up space along with so many over the years I think that is what I liked about his second wife she never tried to be a star off his name I hope in 2008 he finds real love and not just a person looking for 15 mins of fame off his name

I hope he does Le'Zenith in Paris. I saw him there in '98 as part of the NPS tour. He came on at 11 and played til 2 am. One of my favourite shows of his (out of the 30+ I've seen) and compared to the 90 minute show at Wembley the following week, it just didn't compare. Damn our rubbish curfew times in London!

My ideal Line up would be Prince, Wendy and Lisa, Sheila, Levi, and Rosie and would consist of all the stuff you don't usually hear live.

I'd prefer us orgers to hire him for a private show, I wonder how much it would cost to get Prince for one of these private party shows ? if all us orgers got together and setup a kitty, we could raise the cash and have our own private party, forget about the O2 and debates about when/where he tours, this would be much cooler,

We could have a vote for tracks to play and give him the list, imagine his face !!!! lol I reckon your talking £200,000 for a nite, so if 2000 of us put in £100 each, we got Prince for the night to do a gig, hey, I paid £500 for 2 VIP (not) tickets at the O2, so this is cheap and great value compared.

How much would you pay and what song would you choose?

My nominated song choice would be Around the world in a day, and as we're paying, I vote for an unplugged session.

This is abit of a duplication of a post I just put in for the 40'th gig he recently played in the hangar, but I figured its relevant for this as its the gig I'd love to see, Prince unplugged and just have orger's there !!!

I totally appreciate that the random setlist would not make good reveiws but I wasn't really thinking about the bigger picture.

bad reviews = prince loosing fans

no fans = no concerts as theres no one to play to.

prince has to include at least kiss, lets go crazy and purple rain becuase the majority of people wanna hear them and like them. most people would feel dissapointed if they went to a rince concert and didnt hear any of the clasics.
