I just read this whole thread and why do I get the feeling if he was hired to play in a friggin barn by a super rich long time fan (read--.orger or HQ member) all the people saying he's selling out would be ok with it? And to top it off would be asking about getting a boot of the show.

On another note I'm still confused by the concept that Prince should not want to get paid for playing a legitimate concert.

If somebody offered you 1 million to do your job, you know the one you hate w/ a passion, that you have absolutely no genuine interest in whatsoever, would you do it? Now imagine if you were fortunate enough to do what you love for a living and people offered you large sums of money to do it. Can't knock the hustle at all.
