I remember being 11/12 yrs old when Diamonds & Pearls dropped..i was balancing both Hip Hip and Prince and the atmosphere was crazy nice..both in london and in NY...

I think im the only 17 year old I know heavily into Prince.

I know exactly how you feel. I am 25 and have always liked music that my Mum and Dad liked in the 80s. All my friends at school/college/work always thought I was a bit odd for liking more "mature" music.

Unfortunately, most people cannot be converted because they are afraid to be different from their peers. I for one believe it is very important to be yourself - if we were all the same it would be sooooo boring!! (Plus you feel like you are part of something when you like things other's don't - especially when you find others that agree with you for a change e.g. the Org!)

As far as the shows are concerned, my Dad is soooo jealous we went a couple of times and I think my Mum secretly has a crush on Prince as she went all doe-eyed at the mention of him!! She got all moody when I told her Dad got the Prince cds when they divorced!!

I think it is great that there are some younger people enjoying the same stuff as me...Don't listen to those other teens that know very little about real music...you have great taste!!

I find alot of people don't give Prince's music a chance - it's like they instantly dismiss that they could possibly like it. Prince's music is so versatile and appeals to such a wide audience, that if given a chance, I'm sure more people would appreciate his talent.

I have converted 4 people this summer by taking them to a concert - because I love Prince best live.

My husband, who has always dismissed Prince as a 'Purple pain', loves the funky music now especially the live clips
My siser in law, who said, on the way to the O2 'I don't get the appeal or what women see in him', on the return journey said 'That man is so sexy, he has the most amazing aura about him. I love the slow ballards'
My 22 year old son, a garage dj 'can't see what the fuss is about', left the concert saying that Prince must be the most talented all round musician and the king of funk. He has since started remixing Prince material (ahhhhh)
A 23 year old work colleague who had only listened to 'Planet Earth' has since purchased nearly all of Prince's back catalogue

I am really pleased that they all now appreciate the talent and some of what Prince does. At the end of the day - each to their own and you have to respect that

yeah! i'll admit when i was alot younger and into hardcore POP at the time lol i didnt like Prince.. my mum used to play one song of his , which i cant remember the name now i just remember the video, over and over again! and i was like urghh that freak lol.. but once i actually sat and listened to him i was like WOWWWW.. i think his music is Brillianttt.. and the fact he does everything himself.. well.. hes just amazing really
