21st Aftershow vs the others I was lucky enough to have attended last night's/this morning's aftershow and frankly it blew me away and I can't imagine how it could have been bettered (ok, some bits were a little self-indulgent but hell, i 'aint complaining.)
Length of the set aside, can anyone who attend of P's aftershows rate last night against the others? Its not that important. Just wondered if I got lucky as last night was the only aftershow I went to. TT [Edited 9/22/07 1:13am] All of my hang-ups have gone. How I wish you felt the same.

I am not an expert in the field of attending aftershows, but last nights was incredible, but i dont want to say one was better than the other, was at the 24th, 31st (Maceo), 1st, 16th, 20th (NPG) & 21st, all had a different flavour like the mainshows, but for sheer lunacy the 21st stands out, he came to rip it up and that is exactly what he did and if he had his way, he would still be playing in the indigo (9.20am), and many would have cardiac arrests and be collapsed by now.
At 2nites mainshow, Prince packed more punch in 20 mins than Springsteen, U2 and the Stones can in 3 hours, that is how F.....g brilliant he is If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

For me the 28th August will always be the standout one because it was my dream Prince show. Three piece band, P on guitar with a drummer and bass player. Raw and stripped down playing all our rock. Sweeeeet.
Last night was right up there with any of the other aftershows I saw at the Indigo, apart from the above. I think I probably also enjoyed the 18th August more, where Prince seemed more playful and relaxed. Anyone there will always remember it for his red feather hat. There was a huge funk feel to that show and it had a special vibe about it. Last night was special because it was almost like Prince was trying to prove something. He grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and just held on for nearly 3 hours. It was captivating and he certainly did us a good service with his farewell. It covered a whole range of stuff too, certainly the most complete aftershow I saw that didn't have one particular theme. RIP

18th was fantastic but last night was on a whole other level.
I'm so tired but can't sleep. How many hours was I watchin' Prince yesterday? And Planet Earth included in the ticket price turns out to be the complete package this morning. Chillin me out nice. sigers1 said: Last night was amazing but I think we all knew it would be, for me the Sep 9th was the most special becuase I went there with no expectations and was blown away by an amazing 3 hour show

TT [Edited 9/22/07 1:13am] It kind of felt like a summary of all the aftershows to me in a way...the only thing that was missing was the stevie wonder superstition with prince on the keyboard last night was awesome, the aftershows are so unique it's hard to rate it as it were, but you can certainly say you've experienced a prince aftershow...this particular show is bound to be remembered because of the date/occassion/length/finish time/maceo/winhouse/twins/knight etc etc!

Last night was the best show, but it was always going to be really. The 12th was a close second. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

How would everybody compare the crowds of the aftershows? I thought last nights wasn't the best. Not bad but not the best. Not enough people dancing around me - but then again you do need room to dance. [Edited 9/22/07 1:43am]

Not all of their shows have been as good as P last night but some of them have been IMO, e.g. Barcelona and Dublin. Went to Indigo2 window 4 times last night but no luck so didn't see the aftershow. [Edited 9/22/07 1:48am] OK, i take the comment about U2 back, they come a very close second to prince, they just dont have the variety in their music, but they are the only band i know that can have 60,000 austrians on their feet for more than 2 hours (2001 & 2005 (live8) shows) also saw the last gig of the joshua tree tour in cork 1987, a time when i detested U2, but even then they had me jumping around. add to that, when they play "where the streets have no name" live, well, anyone that has witnessed that knows what i mean, play it 20 times in a row, and you have the prince experience If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Yeah I can understand that. U2 are playing one kind of music really whereas Prince kicks ass at many different styles, and he plays many different instruments.

Having been to all 21 aftershows I think I would definitely agree with The English Gent. 28th August was for me the best, everything the English Gent said about that one i would whole heartedly agree with...it ROCKED!!

That was the one where I sat at home banging my head against the keyboard. Even the main show on that Sunday seemed good and had a fair amount of stuff new to the tour. After missing that day I made a vow to myself that I'd miss nothing more and I went to all the main and aftershows from that point. RIP

You can check all the setlists of all the O2-shows and aftershows here: http://www.housequake.com...adid=91442 That way, you get compare them a bit to each other. Looking at the setlist of the 21th, it does seem like all the previous aftershows rolled up into one.

been to 6 aftershows of which Prince played 3. Last night completely ROCKED, he played soooo much, I was in awe for most of the show and sat with my head in my hands several times because i just couldn't believe he was giving us such a performance after the full show earlier.... he just didn't stop at all..... The man is a legend,
and when he told us to look after Amy because she is special i nearly cried... he really has such a soft spot for her. London is not going to be so funky anymore.....

The 9th was the only aftershow I went to... I didn't want to build my hopes up that he'd play that night because I didn't think me and my friend could be that lucky. But... he came on stage with the band not that long after midnight and played until 3:30am in the morning and I was absolutely blown away by the band and Shelby and Marva. And Prince? I am in absolute awe of the man... he was so amazing I still haven't ever found the words to describe how that show made me feel!!! Best night of my life, bar none. : [Edited 9/22/07 5:14am] "I'm so funky I can't even sleep with myself"... Prince 9th September aftershow party
