For me it is 'Somewhere Here On Earth'. Absolutely beautiful song which has grown on me to the point that I now have it on repeat when working at night. Prince's performance of it was spot on every time, though it's a pity not everyone in the audience respected it enough to stay and listen. Every night I was there (except for the last night) it was an excuse to get some more beer!

I haven't played anything since Sat morning when I watched the 2 Sky songs. I'm a bit too miserable, to be honest. At several points over the weekend I've wanted to watch him but each time, I would just remember I won't see him live for god knows how long. Each time in the last 6 weeks I've watched him I've immediately been to a gig. It's going to take a little while to accept that watching him doesn't automatically come with a gig the day after! Strange feelings. I'm not sure I'm ready to watch him yet without feeling sad it's all over.

I've been listening to lots of Sly Stone!

And watching the Aladdin gig again... it's funny how it takes on a whole new relevance after all the aftershows. I love it to bits.

same here - 'I wanna take you higher' and 'Thanku fa lettin me b mice elf again'

Me three- trying to wean myself off Prince by sidestepping into Sly, like a funky methadone.

Aladdin Gig- Whole Lotta Love & Strange Relationship are current faves

Have 2 agree that song is up there with anything the man has ever done. 2 watch him sing that last night was unreal. Chelsea Rogers kicks it 2 as does Guitar 2 give away a cd of that quality just shows u how Prince loves his friends (not fans, friends).

I seem to listen to One Night Alone more than anything. Don't like the beginning of Joy In Rep. though as it's a little tacky (sounds like my daughter practicing her hammer-ons and pull-offs). However of them all I love jamming along to Cream or it could be the other one, y'know, the one that goes on "for twenty minutes".

the one that goes on for twenty minutes is peach and i agree with u that tune is just amazing even my kids cant stop dancing to it even though ive played so many times now it takes me right back to the aftershow WOW biggrin

Controversy which was scorching every time I saw it. Sometimes It Snows In April which I wasn't expecting at all, and Everyday People which I've always loved, and it was incredible to see Prince play it for about 20 minutes at the aftershow, I'll never forget it.

I definately agree with The One, but also Musicology, Black Sweat, Chelsea Rodgers, and Love is a Losing Game- although he TOTALLY improved that song at the Aftershow.

Yep, that is stuck in my head totally after the version he played at the 21st aftershow. Prince's guitar playing on that song is just sensational and beautiful and doubt Amy has ever heard her song played quite so well!! So, I've been listening to Amy's very tender original rendition on youtube just her and the mic. Alos gorgeous, but my mind is adding Prince's guitars!!

It's all one clip (the "Joy" clip) - Joy in Repetition/Anotherlover/Rock Lobster/Peach - played in that order, about 12mins long.

Peach is fantastic biggrin

Depends, I have 3 favorite Sly and the Family Stone albums - Stand, There's a Riot Goin' On and Fresh, but I would probably recommend a compilation if you wanted a nice concise collection of some of their best material.

Gibson9000

Most of The Gold Experience album - especially Billy Jack Bitch, Dolphin, Shhh and Now.

I love this album - it's the main reason I discovered Prince's music (the main being seeing Get Wild by the NPG when I was a kid)

But to pick one - it has to be Billy Jack Bitch. So funky

'the one'

his recent reworking/rearranging of it is totally fucking stunning. amongst the best things he's ever done. far far better than the decent original single version.

he should re-record this arrangement and release it smile

what night was this?
can I hear it anywhere?
thanks x

Most definetly Bootsy Collins' Stretchin' Out (in a Rubber band) that they played before all the aftershows I went to, reminds me of the anticipation and the great party atmosphere building up before the shows...

Also Planet Earth the album, growing on me more each day...

Since

I had planet earth then 3121, with Get on the Boat on repeat on the car stereo, as i drove past the dome on my home, (reliving the aftershow ending sobbing away,) on saturday 22nd nite when i finally arrived home from the aftershow (as explained on my previous thread),

i have NOT listened to a single track. omg Bcoz.....

I've gone cold turkey chicken and every so often I stare into the void looking at the "video" rerun in my colourful mind of the last aftershow and that of the 9th september, interlaced with excerpts of the 9 shows i experienced.
My family is very concerned ...but they just don't understand.

i can't listen 2 anything now as i have so much going on in my head, coupled with the agonising pain bawl !
when that stops then i'll locate the stereo. boxed

heart n hug 2 any1 who feels the same.

"The One u wanna C" has been my Prince Summer 2007 tune, blasting it out in my car on the way to the gigs. Been also listening a lot to the "One Night Alone - The aftershow" to remind me of those fantastic nights at Indigo2. I just love "Peach - extended jam" and "Girls and boys" from this CD. (Are there any CDs out there similar to this?)

Phew, what a summer.
