Why does Prince seem to prefer playing in Europe compared to USA? His monumental performances seem to especially surface in Europe.
Maybe he feels people back home take him for granted. Maybe he prefers being somewhere different. Any ideas why? [Please be respectful]

europeans generally more liberal, open minded, receptive, less attitude etc etc.

ironically some US fans tend to generalise that we all are less appreciative of Prince. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

[Please be respectful] "hmmm mayb he just likes europe?" i say this with affectionate tease. ... It recalls a time around the Musicology tour and i went in2 a chat room on the Org or npgmc and just casually asked if any1 had info on if/when P may come 2 the UK and i got jumped on by 2-5 people going on about the fact "he" hates UK, we r all boring stuck ups. etc... I was sooo shocked by Prince fans being so, that i logged off.( Jeez all i wanted to know is if any1 had heard any news! ) The point is they were wrong of course, No 1 but prince knows why he goes where! There is no "he hates UK europe or the states or japan or holland, or he loves paris stockholm or greenland!" or any reasons known, even though I can understand why he may love paris, as a place .... We just all have 2 wait our turn and enjoy it.... USA was last year with Vegas... Oz and japan and others r still waiting....(i'm sure he'll get there) its a bit when u have a load of friends in different areas.... its difficult to try n c them all in one day so u try get a few of them at a time on different days in an easily located central place.... and u wait n meet up when the day comes wherby the location is nearest to u OR u can either go to a far off located meeting (as many have, n do) or just wait (as most of us do ... lol ). I have friends all over the place! lol The O2 arena and aftershow was full of different types of people from all over the globe.... i alone met people from Italy, Spain, Amsterdam, France, Japan, Sweeden, Norway AND USA.... all came over especially! And so there is no real answer (apart an answer from prince( 2 ur question..... good luck searching for it! :lol; and btw i'm so scarred from the chatroom experience, i've never been on a chatroom since! so i totally understand why u wrote please b respectful!!!! mods... please make a starfish! and some more flags..... u gota recognise all the countries u know! lol ( all words arranged herein this post are the copyright of lovealotbare and can be quoted with the appropriate citation "lovealotbare" and weblink to the original arrangement of words! )

perhaps because London is the best city in the world, "C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince - "Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

The well-documented reason why Europe has done much better than the USA for live appearances - certainly since the late 80s - is down to the massive losses Prince incurred on the Lovesexy tour. He was badly burned during that one.
Still, all seems to have been forgiven since the Musicology tour. And let's face it, USA just got a residence before the UK did (albeit it's easier for Brits to get to London than many Americans to get to Vegas).

I think he loves london... i would bet it also has something to do with aeg-live uk cutting him a SWEEEEETTT deal to break their new venue in the popular consciousness.. having said that, that doesn't exactly explain koko and the royal albert hall stories..

I don't think anyone in Europe cared as long as the music was good.

Don't know why for Europe in general but why UK? Because the pound is strong maybe.
Having tickets priced £31.21 looks cheap and affordable. Well it is to us. £31.21 = $62.95 ...63 bucks sounds like a lot, is it?

Everyone likes to see and meet people from "outta town" - I guess it's the thrill for any artist being on the road, plus the O2 residency was a masterstroke, not having to pay for moving the tour up and down the country (or even London for that matter)... having the Indigo2 under the same roof was also more than convenient, not just for him

Americans seem to underappreciate their own alot especially Prince & MJ. So it is no wonder Prince prefers touring in Europe he gets the love and appreciation and he knows he has a strong fanbase

i would agree with that but also u have that in the US as well, only a few would take 21 nights of the same basic show night after night and call it a masterpiece man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

[Please be respectful] we can find a clue in his 'all the critics love u in london' jam on 21st after show, 'u can wear what u want, in london, u can do as u please, in london' etc etc.....i think he grew up very isolated and feeling an oddball, that little boy is still inside, and feels safer and more accepted here. #england is a great place for freaks, and i mean that in the most complimentary way possible, being someone who rejects conformity myself. live 4 love!

I live in Minneapolis and would argue that more monumental Prince performances have taken place here in this city than anywhere else in the rest of the world. Its not the £ being so strong at the moment, Euro is at historic high as well. Seems like the $ is weak. (no surpsise, but we have to take that to the economics-forum). Nu ti think the question is not only about the UK but about Europe in general. He has been playing a lot here since '86. I don't have an answer really, maybe he just feels good here?
