What I found just as shocking as the throwing of glow sticks was that the 02 appeared to do NOTHING about it. Get your phone out and they're on you like a ton of bricks but idiots throw glow sticks and there isn't an 02 official in sight. Not even an announcement over the tannoy to tell them to stop it.

She then egged one of her dopey sidekicks to follow suit, and as her friend cocked her arm back to throw her stick, I took it out of her hand. She turned around and had a go at me. I'm not proud of snatching something out of a grown woman's hand, but I wasn't going to stand there whilst this feckless idiot threw a plastic stick at the stage.

She did manage to find another to throw at the back of my head as she left. Classy.

But aside from the stupids...what a fantastic show!!!

if there was a point to be made in this thread...i can't help but feel it's been lost in all the venom. it's gotten pretty unedifying don't you think? calm down calm down calm down

a few things -

* just to be clear...the glowstick hit prince's chair. unforgiveable...but see how chinese whispers can start in the first part of this thread? prince is, amongst all the other things, a very philosophical professional. he won't be crying today about it...

* the glowstick throwing, whilst irresponsible was more 'hi jinks' rather than a desire to mutilate people i think and, aesthetically it still did look kinda beautiful as they flew down...sorry sorry...i'm totally against it..but it was kinda pretty i'd like to think that if they'd been even slightly heavier (they're very light - i've got one here infront of me) that people would have thought twice before lobbing them

* throwing glowsticks...or racism? which is worse? hmmm.... think prince would be pleased to see countrymen attacking different countrymen on here? go and live in paisley park? that would be sweet...but then you'd be living in the country that gave us the nucleur slaughter of hiroshima...guantanamo bay...agent orange...etc etc etc get my point? it's not good to generalise or characterise an entire nation. i'm a 'brit' and i'm a very very dear lovely sweet young boy

* the 'council flat' line was, i think, the most offensive thing on this thread. let's declare war on the poor whilst we're at it? sorry, i find that kind of class sneering really despicable. think about it.

* sure there are assholes in the crowd, i've done 8 main shows and 7 aftershows and i've got a fair few stories about no necked pub-lads spoiling things momentarily, heck, i spend a great portion of every day talking myself out of misanthropic impulses...but...two wrongs don't make a right. let's move on

the tour has been a completely fucking glorious success. don't let handfuls of nobheads detract from that. don't throw the goodtimes baby out with the badtimes bathwater...

We all realize that whoever threw the glowsticks was wrong and could have caused injury, but to Blame 'The Brits' is just shocking

With regards to the security at O2, I am not really to sure what they could have done to stop it. It was too dark for them to see who it was who was throwing them, and there were too few of them compared to how many people they had to watch. I think that the only thing that they could have done was to make an announcement on the speakers.

Just a though.... but I couldn't help but think that a lot of it stems from the fact that we live in a generation of festival goers.

Not saying that there is anything wrong with festivals... I've attended a couple myself. But people's approach does seem to be diferent.

Its disgusting and upsetting to read this thread now, but hey we saw the behaviour in many of the shows in August, drunks and running to the bar during solo cuts..this glow stick throwing at prince draws the f'king line..

did prince react?

I wonder were they thrown agressively or did the people think it was a bit like throwing flowers?? And yeah, I know there is a difference in weight.....
