Well my boyfriend used to think Prince was rubbish and recalled old accusations from his teenage years, that P couldn't really play guitar. (just a couple of the comments he has made over the years we have lived together).
To give him credit, he has driven me to the O2 4 times this Summer. The show on the 18th was enough to intrigue him into going again. He really enjoyed the show on the 31st Aug. He didn't like it on the 16th Sept but still took me to the final show last night, which he loved. He is never going to be a massive Prince fan because he only likes a few of his songs, but now at least he does agree that Prince is an amazing performer and very talented man. At least 3 - now to get them onto the Org!
Although one of them leaned across to my friend and said, "Isn't there one about a girl in the red hat?" We continue with his education... [Edited 9/23/07 3:19am] "Well, maybe not the ride..."

i only went to one show..
a show which i thought was one of the best to convert people cause he played hit after hit (28th of August) i took my cousin.. shes 15.. before we went she said he sings like a cat being strangled and thouhgt he was a bit weird cause of the way he dressed.. After seeing the show she now loves him! lol and i watched her at the concert.. she had the look of pure adoration as she was dancing along to him.. it was great! ive been trying to get anyone and everyone of my friends to like him.. but you try converting a bunch of 16-17 year olds who listen to the likes of 50 cent and t pain... `i Like em Fat, i Like em Prouddd`

My wife!
Previously she used to say "turn down that noise - it gives me a headache!" In the car home from the airport sunday after attending an amazing allnighter the 21st (concert and aftershow) I put on a prince CD. She said: "turn up the volume!"

I'm actually one of the converted - a convertee if ya like!
I bought tickets for the 18/8 concert as a birthday present for my boyfriend. God only knows why, but prior to the concert I'd take the piss out of him for liking Prince, I'd turn the radio over if he came on, and I was generally dreading the concert. Awful long way to go to spend hours listening to a screeching wailer gibbering on about a lady's bits. Basically, the concert was an epiphany. Not only did my opinion of Prince change, but my feelings towards live music - I'm a 'classically trained' musician and had pretty much lost faith in the live scene. I was told (warned, even) that Prince is a legendary performer, and a phenomenally gifted musician, but he was beyond that. I think he is a musical genius. Luckily, being a music teacher, I had time to spend all day every day until September 3rd on ticketmaster, and managed to secure fantastic seats for the 28/8 (block A3 - amazing), and I went to the aftershow on the 28th too! I'd assumed that twice would've been enough, but no, I HAD to go again, but thanks to school the only other concert I could go to was on the 21st (and I had to do some 'creative' timetabling to fit that one in!). Sadly, my quest for aftershow tickets failed for that night, but I still had an utterly wonderful time. Best summer of my life. Unquestionably. And I've just about got over feeling like an utter pillock for having ignored the legendary Prince for the previous 30 years. Nothing Compares 2 Ewe
