OMG, OMG, the aftershow tonight, the aftershow tonight. *shakes head* I cannot begin to tell you... He. ROCKED. No words for how much. Very late start 2nite (again), he came on at 1.15am. But he was there from the first minute to the last, a full hour and a half. We knew he was coming because his guitar-sound-adjuster thing was brought out (the semi-circular thing that lies in front of him on the ground). And then the mic. Both right at the edge of the stage. I really feel he wants to make himself available, accessible when he plays to/with/for us. I was in the 2nd row, he was like *right there*. Unbelievable. The curtains were closed but once we caught a glimpse of him when someone brought something out. Huge screams and cheers, the crowd was great. Then the familiar guitar started - but the curtains stayed closed for several minutes. Felt like forever - he's such a tease! When the curtains finally opened he was standing there with his back to us, just with Cora and the bass player (darn, what's his name again??). And then launched into an awesome version of Anotherloverholeinyohead. The crowd went wild and afterwards he said, "thank u, good night" and made like he was walking off! But we all knew that was a joke, because both we and him and the band were all too hyped up to leave it there! He then rocked, played the guitar and sang his butt off. He played real rock'n'roll like All Shook Up (!) - real funky though - and other old rock 'n' roll numbers. Also, Alphabet Street and other of his stuff but so rock and heavy, often more rock than funk that they were really very different from the album versions. He played amazing solos, his guitar is out of this world now. I had a semi-religious experience, not kidding ya! I thought I never heard anything like it; he plays straight to my eternal soul.

Shelby came out for one song, Baby Love, as usual she was unbelievable, she rocks so bad, we all screamed like there was no tomorrow, P really appreciated it. After her number he said, "What a show, eh?".

He left and came back for one encore - made my night perfect by playing something from the new album just as I wished after the main show: Guitar. Pretty faithful to the album version, but LOADS of energy. To my shame this was the only one I knew ALL the words to, so I sang my heart out and got a wonderful smile at the end. He clocks everything.

Veej - It's true he Satisfied the masses in the main show (trust me i had strangers crying and hugging me and it was there first show/ I was weepy to wink and he more than Satisfied the hardcore with an undertaker style aftershow.

Blacksweat - It was truly amazing sharing this monumental experience with you. After tonight I don't care that I missed the Lovesexy or Gold aftershows this was one of his top 10 aftershows ever (and I've got boots of almost all of them).

Dr Goldchoke - Sorry I missed you but fills me with joy that you got to experience this performance. I've been playing my guitar all day it's begging me it's almost as if it knows what I witnessed last night.

I was surrond by about 15 hardcore fans some gushing some with there jaw to the flaw, men screaming, women punching the air.

Nothing but nothing can describe the atmosphere in the room that night. I can't belive that i've just witnessed Prince at his peak.

Yeah, even from a fair bit further back (I opted for a less squashed view, and glad too I was sleep-deprived and not sure I would have survived the awesomeness much closer to the front!) the atmosphere was incredible, and everyone there was enthralled by the magic happening onstage.

I thought I was spoiled on the 14th when he played Partyman, but last night was something else.

He really does love that Guitar!

No Horns, No Renato (which was sad)... BUT....

WHAT A PHENOMENAL SHOW!

This was a show definitely for the fans (myself and Manki were up front), he went fo the stripped down sound that rock trios would die to get in terms of musical body weight.

Price took us back in time with a contemporary feel, even "Guitar" sounded like a timeless classic.

He once said "I Don't wanna be king", but Placed himself on a pedestal last night paying homage to the man, doing a rocked out "Alphabet St." and a few surprises "Empty Room", "I Like It There" et al.

Shelby came out for one number and ROCKED the place. That woman is built to last physically and vocally.

Prince appeared GENUINELY happy to be playing there and seemed really content almost like he played the Superbowl all over again (Yes I AM going that far)!

The stripped-down sound was Prince at his most organic and probably his most liberated too. nod

I hope the music journalists were in the house because this is the show they should be reviewing.

I'm shell shocked and to be honest.... I feel sort of how you feel the day after you loose your virginity. (I feel just a bit violated).

This feeling has been creeping up on me all day

The set was soooo raw and intimate I felt bare and exposed

I can still here the crowd screaming whoooo during Calhoun Square

Am I the only one that thinks the flange effect on Empty Room made it sound psychedelic.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this the first time he's done the whole song Chaos and Disorder live, Not just the guitar riff after Peach

I'm listening to the album Chaos and Disorder today and I tell you people after last night those songs deserve reassesment (only in Prince world could this be a throw away album)

But this last night I will never forget.
Anotherlover BLEW ME AWAY...
It's like the music is still inside of me, and he was so close- OMG.
I was in first row , right where he pretended to stagedive ...
he even let us touch his hands.
I never so him so open.

Musically this aftershow was like a revelation.

I will never, ever forget this aftershow.

I am genuinely a changed human being as a result. Like most, I find it difficult to put into words exactly how amazing a performance our man gave us last night, except to say that we were given a beautiful gift to hold forever.

I agree with all the comments above and am in awe of how unifed and "loved up" those of us who were blessed with the experience are.

I also smiled warmly at 1p1p1i3's reply about being still on a high and returning to Earth.

Personally, I hope I never come down because this feeling is better than anything I have ever known and I give my sincerest thanks.

Peace, Love and Positivity,

Dee

I have to say I just feel so privileged to have seen that. Anyone who saw that would have been blown away. Incredible musicianship, great stage presence, he just had fun. Lots there for the hardcore too!

Truly breathtaking. At one point I swear I was dreaming, it was like I was picking the songs for him. I kept waiting for Peach though... sad wink

Was I imagining it or did he change the lyrics of E&F to something more godly?

In the past I've read of many fan acounts at aftershows where Prince tore it up with the guitar with envious eyes, with only my mind to conjure images of what it must be like. And then I went to last night's aftershow. Wow. It was everything I envisaged and more. As all the previous orgers have said - u run out of adjectives to describe it. An absolutely unforgettable experience - standing there eyes agog like a big kid trying to believe u are actually there witnessing this. One aspect of Prince performing live I've always wanted to see is just him on guitar, bass & drumz a la Undertaker. And there he was - looking cool as fuck - guitar squealing for mercy. I mean, "Anotherloverholenyohead", "Chaos & Disorder", "I like it there", "Elephants & Flowers"?.....phew.... What made it better was that I decided to go at the last minute - got there at 12.10am, bought a ticket and entered the Indigo2 to see the guitar tech testing his Honher. For any of u out there who don't live too far away, and he didn't play the previous aftershow(I live near Dartford), just GO!!

The feeling I had cruising home on the A2 at 3am, shaking my head, big smile on my face...well...u understand.

Yeah, I think "Oh my God" is the only way to describe this show. So much power, never seen anything like this.

The man was enjoying himself, all those funny/funky faces he pulled (you know, during the solo's). And the crowd was great as well.

When will we be payed started out as "People get ready", but when he started singing he just added the other vocals to it.

The show was kinda short - 1 hour + encore (5 mins?) - but it was just perfect. Oh, and "Guitar" was the only way he could end this. He was smiling when the crowd sang the "not like I love my guitar" part.

I had a smile on my face the whole day.

It means so much to me to read these messages from all you guys who also witnessed this and how we are all united in these inexpressable feelings!

I wish all you hard core fans reading this from further afield could have been there with us!

Show was definitely well over an hour, he came on 1.15 and left 2.40 i think. He was shaking his head when he left, what a show, what a show...

He came out wearing sunglasses for the encore and then took them off almost immediately and gave them to someone, didn't he? What an amazing piece of memorabilia of the night for someone!
