I felt that the main show last night was less than stellar. I think I may be suffering from going to too many shows, it was my 6th main show of this tour. There were no new songs last night and very little in the performaces that I hadn't seen already.

I was also in a section of the audience that wasn't really in to it, with many people sitting down, which doesn't help much. The girl next to me asked if I thought he'd do Purple Rain as she likes that. I asked what else she liked and she didn't really know. She sat motionless through Let's Go Crazy and 1999, which I couldn't believe. She also asked me how long he sung for and did I think he'd do an hour! lol

The lack of crowd participation aside, they were also the worst seats I've been in for any of the shows, so I think it was just a combination of things that left me feeling a little bit neutral.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not by any stretch saying it was a bad show. It's all relative to the other shows I've seen and I'd rather have been at last nights show than doing just about anything else. There were plenty of good songs played and I can certainly see that he would have pleased anyone that went to just that show. There was certainly enough good stuff played. It would just be nice, especially with 150 songs rehearsed, to slip in at least 1 new song each night, just like he did the other week with Forever In My Life.

So we left the main show feeling slightly underwhelmed and headed over to the aftershow queue. The night then turned into just about the best night of my life. biggrin
RIP sad

OK, I'll assume that both of you were in attendance... Although I feel this gig will go the same way as Springsteen's 78 Hammersmith Apollo gig - a capacity of 3,000 at the venue and yet 100,000 claim to have been there!!!

I'm a huge fan and I'd listen to the man snore and say it was genius. My point was that the extended soloing was more noodling than "Just My Imagination" or "Joy In Repetition" quality. I'm entitled to remark on that.

I'm also somewhat justified in that the lay-people/non-fans there were looking bored through some of the guitar solos.

It was a privilege to experience. No question. HOWEVER, I wanted my slight criticism on the record before the people who were NEVER there and heard it through a crappy bootleg start waxing lyrical that they were there, and it was the greatest show ever!
