I only wish we could have given him better weather!

lol Are you as silly as I am in that whenever you go out or look outside and it's dull and drizzly, you pray Prince isn't standing around vowing never to come to London again? He should have come last year, the city was like a desert.
[Edited 8/23/07 9:01am]

I was MORTIFIED in those photos of him at the cinema - when his lovely grey suit had big plops of rain on - why oh why does our summer have to be this shit when Prince is in town? Life in London is soooo much better when the sun is out and people cheer up just a bit! So yes - I am sad enough to fret about the weather in his behalf as well - I just hope he's not watching the news as well... God now that would be awful - he must think he's back in the US with all these shootings.

Can I just say at this point that everyone is entitled to an opinion...

Some people on here talk like spoilt children.

Everyone on Prince.org, pretty much without exception, is here because they love Prince's music and they think it's a worthwhile use of their time to keep up to date with his concerts / releases / career etc.

At the end of the day everybody gets what they want out of the Prince 'experience', it's not a consistent one because the music industry in itself is not a consistent one. Artists are not people working in customer service - they turn up and do shows, they record albums, I imagine that's their prime concern.

O.k. so some people paid £250 to be in the same room as Prince, I did, big deal...I wanted to, I chose to - he might not have toured at all. I've also paid £31.21 for a ticket and have gone to Indigo2. Having given most of us years of musical pleasure he really doesn't 'owe' anyone anything, why should he. In fact he's always kept the price of his tickets very low in comparison with other artists of his pulling power / stature.

The Brits can moan and the guys from the US and around the world can be positive, who thinks they can dictate to others on here, some of the language on here says more about the writer than anything else. Each show I saw was a privilege, all of the time you wait for a show to come around (in this case several years) and when it happens it really is worth it. Maybe you guys just think about the subject too much, then everything is magnified. When Prince no longer tours then you can moan, or berate others for whatever nebulous reason - such as being positive (go figure) - but by then no-one will be listening...except to the music which will outlast us all.

It's a privilege to see this great artist perform again, and he really owes nobody anything, he's worked hard to get to where he is and deserves the spoils as far as I'm concerned as he has the talent to back it up.

Hope someone out there can identify with this.
Best,
T

Ahh, yes! Us Brits do moan a lot... It's one of the things we are proud to do as a country. In winter it's too cold and wet. In summer it's too hot! If we get a payrise (fat chance) we don't know what to spend the money on. If we don't we moan cos we can't afford anything.
Prince is doing 21 nights... why's he not doing 22? Why doesn't he play that rare B-side remix version I downloaded off the net? I want to hear it! Why can't it be like all his previous tours rolled into one? Why, oh why, oh why?
Got 5 more gigs to go to... if he doesn't pull his finger out and entertain the entire audience I'm gonna burn all my CD's (not just the Prince ones) smash my guitars up and spend all my money in the pub... And he really should learn to play the guitar!!! Perhaps I'll give him a lesson or 2...

Here we go. A moaner and whiner about the threads they don't like.

The shows have generally received rave reviews. The nagative comments on here seem to only come from two places:

1. From people who paid a hell of a lot of money for special tickets or stay overs for aftershows, only to get very poor service and a no show.

2. Fucking whining fam sheep or casuals that feel its there duty to tell everyone else how grateful they should be and how they should accept things and take it up the arse from AEG and Prince.

If the latter stopped moaning all the time, there wouldn't be half the nagativity around here. There would be a small bunch of threads probably occupied by genuine fans who are venting their anger at getting screwed over by the VIP experience or aftershow no shows.

Yet here you are, so obsessed with wanting to tell people what they should be grateful for, that you eaven start your own thread, when you haven't even been to the UK to experience what some of those poor people went through.

You even went as far a telling people you spent $1000 traveling to MPLS because prince hadn't come to NY. Boo Hoo. Many of the people not happy about the VIP experience paid $1000 just on seats to find themselves in restrictive view. Thats before you even cost in there flights and hotels.

I haven't been effected by these issues, but I sure as hell have sympathy for these people. You simply want to moan about them.

I have a suggestion. Why don't you start a thread called "I'm grateful for whatever the Lord Prince shares with me" and then only hang out in there? No negativity, no moaning, all peace and love?

Oh no I forgot, how you you get your kicks if you could try to dictate what other people should be grateful for.

Still....moan...moan...moan...! razz

Look on the bright side, all your moaning has made a pretty popular thread! razz

This constant war against those who adore prince and those are just fans of his music. Just because i dont LOVE the dude and just because im grown enough to think for my own, and just because im not a fanatic - does not me i dont like Prince. But us Brits - we have high expectations and we dont take shit...From no one. We pay money, that we work hard for and we expect the best - if something isnt the best - then we will say it how it is. If i go to a gig and dont get what im expecting - be it "Prince" or not - i will say somethin about it. I dont get what you guys have such a problem with this? Prince a musician, hes a normal guy - hes not a God. Hes not some guru - he does wrong too and just because you lot are so jaded by him - does not mean we have to be.

Get an opinion man. Stop with the "Everything Prince does is brilliant" its not. Hes made crap music (here and there), hes had crap performances (here and there) and thats that! Just like ANY other normal person/artist.

Looks like you've finally loosened up. Can I remind you of your rant at me after
I dared have an opinion after the first show:

Old farts. Thats just what you guys are. I never write negative comments on here, coz i think other people do enough of that on here (esp you lot who take the whole 'fan' thing abit too seriously)...But YOU LOT ARE SO DEPRESSING! My god - sorry, we're not a billion years older, sorry many of werent old enough to see Prince in 1988...You lot CONSTANTLY go on about how "people need to stop comparing Prince to his Purple Rain Days" - and look whats goin on? Were your expectations too high? YES? F*** Me? What did you want him to do? A Madonna? Sit on a cross, get naked and be totally inappropriate for his age, just for the sake of a "wow" moment? Dude and Dud'ets...Come on? The man is of age now? Hes doing gigs and performing his 'hits' - he just released ONE album just a couple weeks ago and you expect him to play all new songs? From someone whos never seen him before and is under the age of 30 - i can tell you now - if i didnt get THE hits performed, id want my 30 quid back.

Ive decided im not reading any more of ANY ones "post-gig" posts - coz you lot are just kill joys. I know, im gonna get the typical, "prince.org, fanatics, over-the-age of god knows what, nothing better to do with their time, take the whole Prince and this site too seriously" responces and thats fine - coz i aint reading them lol so go ahead - do your thang, just for god sake, shut the F up about how "over rated" it was - its like your my mum talking about the "crzy 60's" - ITS GONE. GET OVER IT. GET WITH THE TIMES!

Im Out. Laaaaataz.

Keep taking the pills, mate. They're obviously working!!
