DON''T BOO AT O2

Its saddened me when at the end of gigs and hes already done an encore people then boo after cheering so much, think it makes the night end on a sour note and can't be that great for P and the band, don't see people doing this at other gigs! Come on lets just cheers that he came here for 21 gigs in the first place!! smile

yeah but people boo because they want to see more, not because they think it's rubbish.
Imagine if people booed the England football team cos they wanted to see more !.....no...it will never happen

take a look at the thread on '21st sept chant ideas' - we've been tyring to come up with alternatives to booing that would show our appreciation!

At the 7th gig people were chanting and ceering for ages after Get On The Boat, and when we were told he wasn't coming back on, people then booed.

Believe it or not, it's not a Prince exclusive. It happens at many gigs these days.

It's just a sign of dissapointment that tehy won;t be coming back on.

No big deal.

Oh I dunno, in the last 18 months I have seen gigs all over the UK, in Denmark, Germany, France, Holland, Slovakia, Hungary and I can tell you now, it happens everywhere.

It's not a negative thing and in the case of Prince, he had been off teh stage for like 10 minutes anyway, so he had most probably left the venue.

Is this common?

I witnessed it on Saturday 18th. And 'booed' myself as the show was UNDER 1hr 30m.

I did so because I wanted and feel justified that he should have performed more. I think it will have served as a wake-up call for Prince as he really went to town at the Aftershow.

I hope his concerts now are around 2hrs from here on in as ana artist with 25+ years of recording, he cannot justify less than 1hr 45 in my opinion.

He's caused this himself. If he hadn't done that stupid surprise encore at the first show, people would happily head home without so much as a thought towards booing when the house lights go up. Now though, no-one's sure if that's it or not, so it's natural that everyone thinks they are being teased and he might come back, and when he doesn't - that's when they boo.

Sure, some other shows you might get a very very very small boo (i.e. that you'd sturggle to hear) but with Prince it is LOUD - like half the crowd are booing.

His own doing I'm afraid...

To be honest, I think the booing is more tongue in cheek and is aimed at the O2 for putting the lights on more than booing Prince because he was shite. It's the British sense of humour, because if you have a look around when people are booing, they're doing it with smiles on their faces.

I wouldn't read too much into it and I saw Prince smile when he was doing the synth sampling thing and people were booing because he wouldn't finish when doves cry or anything else. I think he understands that it's not malicious booing

Oh yeah, the only boos I've heard which I interpreted as being bad natured was on the 3rd when he wasted so much time with his stupid wheelie-box thing in and out of the arena.
