Squirrels quick review of Tue 7th Show! (Plus full set list)

To quote billy, "The kid is in rare form tonight!"

Ok folks, it true, tonights show really did rock!!!!! Despite being the shortest show yet (1h 55m), the was by far the funkiest. Just goes to show, sometime less is more!

Light went down at 9, then we had a five minute video intro of DMSR

Then....

Little red corvette (Solo edit)
Raspberry beret (solo Edit)
I Could Never take the place of your man (solo Edit)
Alphabet street (Solo edit)
Sometimes it snows in april (solo)

Band join the stage

Cream
You got the look
Musicology (inc Freaks on this side and Hey Funky London)
Pass the peas
Give it 2 me intro
Play that funky music "audience" singer
I feel for you
Controversy
Housequake (edit)

Wonderful world

25 minute piano medley on the spiral of the symbol!

Somewhere here on earth (edit)
Diamonds & Pearls (Edit)
beautiful ones (Full solo version!)
how come you don't call (Nearly complete)
condition of the heart (Edit)
do me baby (Edit)
I wanna be your lover (all at the piano but with band)

If I Was your Girlfriend
Black Sweat
Kiss
Purple Rain

Encore 1

Let's Go Crazy
Take Me With You
Guitar

Encore 2

Get on the boat (With Gutso Faboys or whatever they are called)

Prince was lovng it tonight, and so were the crowd. One side (my side natuarally, I was in Block 111 row C) was particularly loud so P keep coming over. In the encores, he said "yep, the freaks are definately in this side!

The piano medley stole the show! Personal favourite was the full piano version of The Beautiful ones and How come U don't call me.

Only downer was that Prince seems to ignore the back half of the arena completely. I think he only ventured to the back side of the symbol 3 times in the entire 2 hours. There were some pissed off faces.

I walked past the Indigo2 queue about 10 minutes after the show and there were only about 30 or 40 people in the line!!!! Could tonights show be a washout!

Anyway, well done P. best show in years!

Prince was on it tonight! Wonderful show - made all the better by the enthusiasm of the audience - particular thanks to the guestlist couple next to me in 102 G who whooped and whelped for encores til the house was almost empty - damn we did try for a 3rd...

Thanx for the setlist Squirrels

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Agreed, short but sweet. Best of the 4 so far and the most different as well. There was some good bass playing by Prine as well at one point (can't remember which song), but the solo piano portion was totally sublime.

He also seemed at his most relaxed and playful, talking and joking a lot with the audience. The "oh yeah they don't know that...I forgot!" line cracked me up.

Yep, he did take a liking to his left side of stage (110-111 area) they got a lot of attention!!

Great night, great mood. I left right at the end of get on the boat so I'm pleased I timed that one right. So far no show has gone a minute past 11 so that's been a reliable sign of whether it's safe to go or not. Grupo Fantasmo were also excellent, and I had the feeling that Prince could well join them on stage on such a relaxed night but no way I could stay due to work next morning.

Heh - that was quality.

Also - when he said the "so many hits, so little time" bit I expected him to carry on with the "should I do...." but he obviously realised that he'd already done Diamonds and Pearls and I Wanna Be Your Lover like he usually teases the crowd with. Heh. Had to laugh right at the start of Purple Rain when he goes "what do you wanna hear? what do you wanna hear London?" - he obviously didn't hear my shouts of 'Horny Toad' confused lol
