Sheer Perfection of Aftershow

I have been a fan since 1984 and have seen p on many occasions but i have never been to an aftershow before.Last night i went to the 02 with my wife and 2 friends all of whom i consider occasional fans, it has taken me 15 years to get my wife to attend!!
I loved the main show, not his best but value for money all the same, but my wife and friends were not overly impressed due to some sound issues which kinda spoilt it for them.
I bought tickets for the aftershow as a surprise and we queued up and waited with intrepidation as i was hoping to convert them to finally see what i see in p but the main event did not achieve this.
I needn't have worried from the moment he started Superstition to the last cries of Funky London they where hooked. He was simply genius last night i was mesmerised, to be 10 feet away from my all time hero and able to watch him play is something i will never forget quite simply THE BEST NIGHT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE !! (apart from my wedding night and birth of my son just thought i would clear that up) biggrin

The aftershow was great. I've never seen him this playfull on an aftershow. He really seemed to enjoy himself. The main show wasn't bad either. It was a lot more inspired than the lame one of the 17th. Heck, the NPG aftershow set of the 17th was 10 times better than the main show.

PorterUK

The first Friday aftershow (with Beverley Knight), the Tuesday night aftershow (again with Beverley) and then this Saturday's aftershow (P & the band - with an appearance by Mya's backing singers) have all been spell-binding.

I'm hard pressed to pick between them.

I preferred the presence of Beverley Knight, so obviously a huge fan of the man which made her the perfect presence on stage. And yet Saturday saw the best songs (with the exception of Tuesday's Empty Room performance) and P was on fire.

A real honour to witness these. I don't want to think if he'll ever perform like this for us in London (or anywhere) again. It's an honour too for Prince to have chosen the UK to do this.

One point I must make is that he appears to be enjoying these aftershows much more than the concerts now. It probably started as equal footing but now his grinning at the aftershows tells me that he is 'feeding' off of the adulation at them.

If he played these every night, I'd get a weekend job to pay for them!

These are unmissable!
