I have known her for about 14 years. She is a very nice person.

This is an amusing thread.

The behaviour of hers I witnessed a few months ago was rude and like a spoilt little girl, maybe she was just having an off day...?

ah well, we all know that Sophie appeals to that massive audience of people who find music simply a background disturbance, she is up there with the Corrs for producing some of the best music in their specialised category, that category being:

"Music for people who don't really like music"

wink
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

She went in the first two or three nights.. you do not want to know what some people on the trains home were saying after the first couple of gigs. it was..Impolite.

She took the time to be as articulate as the small space would allow. And really represented the opinions of quite a lot of people from what i could see.

To most people black sweat, musicology and lolita were not hits. In fact out of the 24 nights, the amount of people who owned black sweat in this country would have filled 4 of them if they all showed up.

It wasn't until further into the run that Prince broke out the piano and sampler sets, cut down on the jams and the shows went into the next gear for casual fans. Friends i sent later in the run seemed far more positive than ones who went early on. I loved them all, and i think she's not being unfair.

Her recent album is much better than Princes album, but then she didn't give it away did she?

Prince is known to be a bit of a diva at times, so come on, pot, kettle and black.

You know her well then? Can I call you a cnut as I think I know you quite well.

Never realised how up their own arses Prince fans are. Not everythig he does is wonderful, infact, he has released some utter tosh, nobody is 100 percent perfect.

Too damn right. And if crowd response is anything to go by, many people on the 7th August started losing interest with the jams too, too samey, too long and time could be better spent playing much better songs that we know Prince has.

Unfortunately though, Prince doesn't do what people expect. He never has and he will never change now.

the truth hurts but it is fact that there is a market for people who dont really like music, i am not trying to diss the Corrs (as i actually like some of their work, especially Old Town and Summer Wine, oh forgot, that is not their work, covers razz ) or Sophie (well I thought she might have a career blossoming when murder on the dancefloor came out, but i have heard nothing since) . When prince annouces his next greatest hits tour, he should warn all real music fans not to attend, as he will just mime all his songs to their album versions, this will surely keep everyone happy. Oh Shit, I am rambling again, so i will purchase £70+ tickets for Take That and the Spice ones so I can talk utter bollocks the next time lol

Why the fuck would you want to see the spice girls and take that? As for The Corrs, biggest pile of shit. Bland, boring, mor music for mums.

In no way can anyone compare SEBs music to The Corrs. It's like comparing Prince to Michael Jackson to a certain degree.

As for Prince charging £70 a ticket, great, he won't be playing 21 night stints at huge arenas will he?

Just for the record, I hate MOTDF.I detest the song.

Sorry for saying you were talking bollocks, it was just the corrs/SEB thing.Have to say though if there really is 'music for people that don't like music', well, I find it a strange concept. I do know there lots of people at Princes gigs who knew a few hits and went because the tickets were cheap. Maybe it amounts to teh same thing, I don't know.

I don't like her, some of her tunes have been ok but nothing memorable and in my opinion I don't think any of her stuff is better than Prince's new or old. Thats my opinion as I disagree with hers... this thread is getting nowhere fast eh! Its a whole agreeing to disagree area smile

Well enough to form the opinion that she is a fucking tool - we grew up in the same part of London and she went to school with people I know well - and has always been a fucking tool

Naturally even if I had never met her in my life, her 'music' and the way she comes across in interviews is more than enough for me to have formed the opinion that she is a fucking tool

You call Prince fans up their own arses yet I fail to see the logic and reason in your reaction to our disdain which leads me to believe that you, yourself are a fucking tool

taken from today's (12/8) Sunday Mail newspaper:

"SOPHIE IN A ROYAL ROW AFTER CLAIMING PRINCE IS A LITTLE HIT AND MISS

Sophie Ellis-Bextor yesterday hit back after being attacked by outraged Prince fans. The singer was slated on websites devoted to the purple legend after slating one of his London gigs last week, saying he should have played more hits. But fans said Prince had palyed hits such as Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret, Alphabet Street, Cream, U Got the Look, I feel 4 U and Controversy.
Last night Sophie, 28, still insisted: 'The sum of it is I was disappointed. When I go to a show I want songs I know. He just did bits of songs and a couple of hits then all the other jamming stuff'. And Sophie reckons she will still play her early hits for years to come."

There was a bit more, but thats the jist of it.

well theres a relife, she will only be playing 5minute sets then biggrin

After being a member of this brilliant forum for a short space of time, it is obvious a lot of you can't take criticism, whether valid or not. Every musician has fans like that, even bands I like, nothing wrong with it, except it must be boring thinking that everything said band or musician releases is perfect. I have yet to find any band to release a 100 percent perfect catalogue of music.

And thanks for the compliment, mummy must be proud wink

One thing it shows you, this is the only review to really warrant a discussion. Most of the other reviews from the paper were so pointless, that many (most), didn't even discuss the gig.

It's easy to write a review without reviewing something. Maybe they see the response SEB got from the pack.

If mummy had taught you to read you'd realise I haven't at any point claimed Prince is perfect and you'd also realise I said "the review aside" which quite blatantly shows I couldn't care less what she has to say about prince or any other musician for that matter - I simply think she is a fucking tool.

You barked about pots, kettles and blackness at one point in this thread yet calling me a cunt is apparently the pinnacle of making mummy proud
