I'm glad I wasn't the only one chuckling at this point....

Did anyone else notice the "limp wristed" microphone stand while P was doing the piano solo ?? he kept having to adjust it...I would hate to be the technician in charge of that after the show....

I think it's safe to say that his on-stage monitor wasn't working initially for "Let's Go Crazy".

Prince was lovng it tonight, and so were the crowd. One side (my side natuarally, I was in Block 111 row C) was particularly loud so P keep coming over. In the encores, he said "yep, the freaks are definately in this side!

The piano medley stole the show! Personal favourite was the full piano version of The Beautiful ones and How come U don't call me.

Only downer was that Prince seems to ignore the back half of the arena completely. I think he only ventured to the back side of the symbol 3 times in the entire 2 hours. There were some pissed off faces.

I walked past the Indigo2 queue about 10 minutes after the show and there were only about 30 or 40 people in the line!!!! Could tonights show be a washout!

Anyway, well done P. best show in years!

TOTALLY AGREE!

TRULY BRILLIANT SHOW!

Great piano section ('Condition of the Heart anybody?!) and opener. Prince was on blistering form throughout.

A fan and casual crowd pleasing night.

I've been to 3 now and all have been different. The guy is unbelievable.

I was very surprised that he played (beit briefly) a Rick James skit, but it was good 2 hear him on Bass though.

The Piano medley was TOTALLY awesome. I prefer him as a Pianist more than a guitarist in honesty, a lot more dynamic and vocally, his ballads really shone through.

Maceo Parker was absolutely phenomenal when he did his bit with Renato (ungrateful swines went out 2 get sloshed at this point!).
Maceo got that circular breathing thing down to a T - he got a standing ovation for that.

Dig the pre gig mexican wave in the balcony.

Also, please don't boo if the show ends, the man gives around 2-4 hours a night to U guys, just because he doesn't always do a house lights encore doesn't mean U didn't get your money's worth and U know it! thumbs up!

Great show though, the old man has still got it!

WOW, Thanks for that. Counting down days (6 precisely) till my next show and been attempting to compile a wishlist. Mainly to entertain me and my sister in the wait as it is sending us crazy but it would appear some of my top wishlist songs were in last nights show! Now I'm about to burst with excitement just waiting for Anna Stesia to come up and I'll be in tears again!
I love you Baby, you know the rest...

With you on that. Last night was so awesome. Not the longest show but it was clear he was in a good mood and full of energy.

The truth is Prince gives back to the audience what they give to him. If the crowd is going wild then he rises to it. A low energy crowd get a low energy performance.

As for Maceo - sublime. Did you hear/see how long he maintained that single note. Unbelievable!!!! And like you say, so many luddites in the audience head off for a pee and more beer and nachos!

However, that's what you gonna get when joe public are attending the concert and not just fans. It's a whole night out (same people buy smelly hotdogs and noisy sweets in the cinema - aaaarrggghhh)

As for the booing, well I don't think that would be down to the real fans as they would have already figured out it was 11pm and that Prince wouldn't be allowed to play anything more (he finished on the dot).

Those "ladies" are 99% definitely plants in the audience. Me and my friend were picking them out in advance before the show. Some had passes around their neck and a lot all seemed to already know each other and were saying "hi".

Also if you watched closely none of them remotely got int he way of Prince, The Twins or the Band. They were all briefed and knew what was expected and where to be.

For me that was the ONLY poor bit of the gig. Might be fun for one song but not keeping them on stage for more than that.

I did actually think that was the case. As you mentioned they kept well clear of P and the band members and yeah they were on stage far too long...I didn't go to see them !! sad

It was all cool but perhaps a tad too long. Plus if we all know they are plants then it loses the "inclusive party" vibe I think Prince is aiming for.

Small complaint though for what was an amazing gig!

I agree about the plants... When I went on Friday night... There was this tanned young lady ...Turned up alone...Which I found odd as she was very well dressed with a coloured Louis Vuitton Hand bag.... She sat in Block C2 Row C at the end.... Then she disappeared for the rest of the concert... Until she appeared on stage!

Although i think the Big mama that was on the stage was unlikely to be a plant!

Prince has all the words to all the songs just to the side of his microphone. The guy got to use the, However, I did notice he only looked at them once!

Prince needed them for ICNTTPOYM, Alphabet St and U got the look!?!?!

Tues 7th I took two Prince virgins; J cried when he opened with Little Red Corvette! R cried at Purple Rain! We got some great seats from TM the day before (how does this happen? C2 row P. FRONT ROW CENTRE!)

It was emotional, a total funky jam, and if I went all 21 nights... it wouldn't be enough.

Maceo and the rest of the band are HOT, Black sweat is fantastic live, and I'll say this once: You get the party you take with you. Maybe it's just my ego but we forced our neighbours into the mood! HOUSEQUAKE!

And the VIP's on the stage were given a short sharp word about the do's and don'ts before the gig got started. Not exactly spontaneous but not really plants either. We didn't go up but I'm a sharp eyed boy, me.

And did anyone else catch prince telling me I was funky? The tall pakistani in the polka dot shirt and gold shades? Anyone?

And: I'm gonna put her, in the back seat, and drive her... to Manchester (yeah yeah yeah!)
Scrub the dishes!!
