Are taxis available after the aftershows?

We're staying at the Docklands Travelodge on Friday and I don't really want to drive from the Travelodge to the O2 and back again as I want to be able to have a few drinks. Are there taxis around after the aftershow?

What experience did anyone have getting a taxi after last night's aftershow? What time does it finish? Where can I get a cab company telephone number that will take us the short hop back to the Travelodge? Are there cab details at the O2?

Or would you recommend I forego the drinks and take the car?

Any tips appreciated as I'm not used to travelling in London in the samll hours.

Thanks

Gazza

We are staying there on the 18th August, getting the tube over there, going to the aftershow, and could really do with knowing if taxis are going to be around.

It's not that far away on the Map, via a tunnel, but I don't think the local police would look too kindly on a couple of tipsy Prince fans skipping through it @ 4 in the morning.

I think it's a long way - just over 11 miles and through central London. I wouldn't do it if I were you...!

I've been told that there is a route from North Greenwich station, bus 108, and we get off at Andrew Street/Abbots Road stop (6 min ride), then it's a 13 min walk to the travellodge in East India.

Times aren't too bad 02.24, 02.54, 03.24, 03.54, 04.24 & 04.54 can you spot the pattern?

More info at www.tfl.gov.uk

The only question now is, does anybody know how rammed the 108 from North Greenwich has been? and can you get on it?

Doesn't bother me being a sardine for a 6 min bus ride.

Hi guys

I stayed at the docklands travelodge on the opening night and went to the after show

Got on the 108 bus at stop D and got off immediately after blackwell tunnel (it seemed like a very long tunnel ride considering it was just across the water and the bus does head away from the dome at first but then heads back - it had me worried for a while)
Once you get off at the stop after blackwell tunnel head up the steps by the bus stop to the overpass and head towards canning town (ie turn left when at the overpass)

Honestly the travelodge is just around the corner and after the aftershow at 3.30 - 4am I was glad to see it as my legs were giving way smile

Hope this helps

The bus was pretty full too so get on as soon as you can and make sure you ask the driver if he stops after blackwell tunnel

Hi we stopped at the Ramada next to the travel lodge it is a five minute walk to the Dockland light railway there is a change over on to the tube system but it is dead easy total journey time to the O2 from the hotel is about 15-20 mins!

As for a Taxi well if you are going to the after show when you get out around 4am there is nothing so ask at the hotel they should give you a card with a preferred private car hire firm once out simply give them a ring we did and where picked up within 10 min!

Oh and it cost £15!

Yes the overpass is right by the bus stop, with steps going up to the overpass too. Just head left when you get to the top of the steps of the overpass and youll see the travelodge sign just around the corner.

There were a few people getting off the bus with us at the time too all heading to the travelodge so if your stuck you can always follow the crowd

I went to aftershow on Friday night and came out of Indig02 at 3.45 am. We waited at taxi rank q for 30 mins and in this time only 2 taxis actually turned up! Q was fairly big as well. We had a card for Royal Taxis (02074762500) and gave them a call they came within 10 mins and the driver calls you back on your mobile to find out exactley where you are and it cost us £15 to return to travelodge docklands. It took about 15 mins in total so I thought price was reasonable for that time of the morning. Make sure u agree a price before u set off as we got ripped off going to the 02 as we forgot to ask.

Make sure you get taxi to confirm what car they are driving and what colour the car is as there was loads of cars about after the aftershow.

I have since found out that people who came out of aftershow at the same time as us were waiting until 5.30 am for a taxi!
