Dress code for Afterpartys

I've been to 2 Prince aftershows since 1993. Bagleys Warehouse 1993 and The Emporium in 1995 both blinding shows by the lil man.

But more importantly they were hassle free. I dressed casual, had a few drinks before I got there and had no trouble with door staff.

But recently i've heard of a few problems. People getting refused entry even with there NPGMC VIP laminate because they are not dressed correctly.

Can any1 shed any light on the subject? Should we dress up? I would be delighted to here from people in the States and Canada who went to aftershows to explain how the NPGMC pass works and whether it overules dress codes etc.

Don't. And don't wear sneakers. That'll get you pulled out of line; I've seen it happen. Tuck your shirt in (make sure it has a collar) and walk leather; you should be OK.

At the Indianapolis aftershow in March, there was no dress code, but the venue (which kinda sucked) normally doesn't have one. My guess is that dress code is probably up to the venue.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

Nowadayas in London, there is rarely a dress code enforced unles it's a shit club. The normal policy is media trendy, ie bootleg jeans and a funky t-shirt with addidas trainers.. Really depend son the club..I've been ot Cafe de Paris before wearing a suit as it was after work, and they told me to take my jacket off cause i was lookign to smart, go figure..
