How did people get back from the aftershows?

For the aftershow goers only please, how did you all get back?
thames clipper? taxi? minicab? Or parked in carpark?

and how much were taxis at that time to which locations? I'm still trying to decide whether or not to take the car. Was it easy/safe getting to and from carpark at those hours?

thanks.

Cost me £35 to get to Muswell Hill, but be warned ! THERE ARE NO CABS OUTSIDE AT 3AM !! (Not that I could see anyway)

We had to order a cab and wait 20 minutes for it.

Might be a good idea to book cabs in advance.

TAKE YOUR CAR!!!!

I watched two busses pass (full), missed numerous spontaneous cabs to other party goers, many cabs refuse point blank to take us "Norf of ve riva" six mini arguments with the wife and another full bus later, we both had a piss in a back alley, before walking to Greenwich where we finally got a nice taxi to take us to kings cross (for 35 quid) just missed the train and sat at kings x for 50 mins, got train and cab home.

Gig finished at 3am, I was snugly in bed by 6am, up at 9 and now at work!

Tickets, £120
Travel, £80
Seeing Prince live again and at the aftershow on opening night - priceless!

I will be driving to all my remaining gigs!

thanks all, that's already suggesting that I should drive. £35 to muswell hill, so Golders Green (for me) will be at least that if not more and waiting around for a cab does not sound like fun.

Golders Green would be at least £40

Obviously, it depends on where you live but I managed to get a 188 nightbus to Holborn before getting another nightbus from Tottenham Court Road back home to where I live in North London. All in all, 2 hours and far cheaper than a taxi or riverbus!

nod

The 188 was a good bet, but you needed to get to the bus stop quick. We saw two fill and leave before we gave up.

We got the 3.30 Thames Clipper and it was great! We were all on a high after the show and the clipper is like 2 minutes outside the centre. It took about 20 mins to get to London Bridge and 5 minutes or so more to Waterloo. It's £2.60 with a travel card and £4 without. Then you can get buses from Waterloo or walk over the bridge to Strand/charing cross. I got home at about 5 in the end. Sorted

What would be the best way to get to the docklands after 3 am?
Take the boat and then?
Where are the cabs?

Where does the boat let people get off the boat?

There is a Taxi ordering queue just at the door leading out. I would join that and wait. The boat takes to away from where you want to go.

Is http://www.thamesclippers.com/home/ their wbsite?
Which stop brings me to the other side of the river near Lower Lea Crossing or slightly more east?

This taxi ordering service stopped taking orders at about 315am and up to this point were quoting a 2 hour waiting time.
They also chrge the earth.
IMO try to avoid this service if possible.

We got a taxi after booking and waiting for about 15 minutes. We were in Greenwich but the taxi ride as about 10 - 15 mins and I thought was a snip at £7

Taxi service were very friendly - you pay in advance on the booth, they walked us to the can door and advised he driver where to take us via for a little snack.

We got in the taxi at about 2.50am.

Sorry to go a bit off topic here but does anyone know what the best way of getting back to Stratford would be after the main show on Saturday? How much would a taxi cost?

Thanks.

After the main show, just queue with the crowds and get on a tube. Once you are on the train Stratford is 5 mins away.

You mean there is tube at 3:30 or 4:00 am? Or slightly later?
I don't think so, even in a metropole like London.
So how is the center of entertainment connected to the rest of England at these times?
No more boat, two nearby tunnels that have no room for people walking (?) and no taxi cabs?

At least I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...all_Tunnel
At the bottom it mentions some pedestrian tunnels not too far away (I hope).

We were staying at the travelodge at london docklands

We got the 108 bus (stop D) after the aftershow and got off at the first stop imediately after blackwell tunnel (the same side of the river as the travelodge) then we went over the over pass and towards canning town.....you should then see the travelodge.....we were lucky as we didnt really have a clue where we were going but it was only around the corner from the bus stop.....chuffed

It was fine to get on.. I was at the front of the queue though. Mind you if the aftershows are 2000 people or whatever, not all of these get the boat so you shoud be fine. They actually put on 2, so at around 3.30 or something the first one came and another about 5 minutes later. They both take around 200-300 people so it was cool.

With regards to taxi's, I would advise booking them beforehand so you know that you are not hanging around for ages - you can try this compauy Adison Lee as they charge by postcode so will not charge you £10 before you actually get in the car. Their number is 020 7387 8888 and I am sure they will have a website. Call them for a quot, they are big cars so maybe people could start a car pool?
