Friday night - my experience

I'd just like to circulate my 2ps worth on Friday night, after a 48 hour assessment / cooling off period.

Disappointing. For the following reasons (most of which were out of my control)

- Souless venue.
- Poor sound
- Seats too far from the stage with inadequate screens.
- A start 20 mins late and a finish 20 mins early. (Song choices at both ends inappropriate and unsatisfactory)
- The "in the round" stage choice meant Prince was rarely even anywhere near us and actually performed in our direction about 4 times.
- Prince starting the rounds of "Goodnight London!" after 1 hour / a general "going through the motions" feel
- Not enough acoustic Prince / too many random guitar jams & generic horn solos
- Lack of hardcore fans in the non-VIP areas / nobody joining in with the "oooh eeee ooooohs", in my book, a must at a Prince gig / people doing Mexican waves. Always a bad sign.

Did I miss anything?!

So in conclusion, maybe overly harsh and the result of high expectations but it seemed to be finished before it really got going. Or it could be that having heard and seen so much epic Prince over the years I know when I've been sold a fugazi?!

Personal highlights: Purple Rain, Joy In Repetition, Anotherlover…but only Purple Rain was really on the money...

And that's that. Back to Sign O' The Times, Rotterdam '88 DVD for me…….

I think opposite. There is nothing more annoying than people going oooh eeee ooooohs in your ears. I must be a casual fan then.

Nobody on this site is a casual fan!! Obviously you don't do it all night but there was one oppertune moment during some dire horn interlude and it disappointed me that people looked at me like I was a nutball. Poor.

Dunno which block I was in but was in the 3rd row of the top tier so felt for the thousands of peeps further back than me.
