FRIDAY 3RD AUGUST - My Story

Well - I have been a Prince fan for over 25 years and Friday night's concert and aftershow simply surpassed everything I have seen before in both good and bad ways.

The main concert was awesome. How brave to start with the jazz of Down by the Riverside and Satisfied - how utterly cool is that.

Prince was on fire, and he did enough crowd-pleasers to keep the masses happy, and he also did something for the serious fans. I mean Joy In repetition, oh my God - I have heard this on live recordings but never thought I would hear it and see it for myself, I was all over the place with happiness. Controversy was off the hook, when he did the chant at the end, I felt like I was going to explode it was so damn funky, full of attitude and cool. I will be honest the casual concert goers didn;t get it - they really only dug the real hits, Kiss, PR, Let's Go etc... but when he did Peach, Controversy, Black Sweat and Joy and the finale with Guitar, freaking awesome. It was, after seeing Prince so many times live, the best concert I have ever been to.

Then the major disappointment, a no show at the aftershow - I was gutted. I have always wanted to see him perform so intimately - and at one of his legendary aftershows, so I stuck it out til gone 3am, and nothing but bloody Dr John, oh my God, shocking. Prince, you let your hardcore down there, or the promoter did, or whoever was responsible for the no-show. Really gutted, devastated in fact, and bloody tired. I don't get out as much as I used to now have a child, so this was one night I had looked forward to for ages, and staying out so late when I have family responsibilities was a real sacrifice for me, and then nothing from my man - Prince, please don't let us down like this - I will never stop listening to you or buying your records, but don't do that again, it was such a downer.

The main show awesome.

I am going again on the Saturday 11th main show, and will risk another aftershow on another night as tickets are easy to come by, PLEASE SHOW UP- I just once want to see you perform really close up on an intimate stage.

Any one who is going to the show, you are in for a freakin' treat.

So all you haters, shut up already - the man is in rare rare form!!!

ENJOY!!!!
